I can’t understand why so many reviewers of head torches don’t show the torch actually being used at night time as you have done .very helpful well done and thank you.

@@roberthammenrudh yes it it difficult to film but you need to see at least how wide the beam is. Video quality not so important. Anyway, thanks again. Probably still going to go with a black diamond but very helpful

It’s a small light, not particularly strong and it’s expensive, but it’s a great standby/reserve light source though. I keep mine around my neck permanently at night. I’m never fumbling about for a light, it’s great if you need to get out of your sleeping bag at night for any reason. Petzl have other lights more suited to hiking, or running or even cycling in the dark. The Bindi isn’t up to that task, but it’s a great convenient little light, very useful, and it’s a good thing to have ‘redundancy’ in your gear list. Thanks for the vid, it’s reminding me that winter is passing.

Nice one! Fairly comprehensive review there with all the info you could need - for light test videos you could also put some white pegs/mine tape etc along a trail at 5-10m intervals to gauge light throw distance and angle pethaps? Just ordered one myself as the cheapy I have is about dead - this and a petzl shell Lt storage bag/lantern diffuser to put it in! Thanks again!

Im a major fan of ultralight and compact gear, but knowing that both my headlamp and GPS are good for a week (or even a month if i really wanted to), i can leave my battery bank at home, and so im actually saving weight by going with a heavier headlamp..! (My Garmin "eTrex32x" GPS is relatively lightweight though. Smaller screen without touch functionality gives lower power consumption, which makes it an ideal choice for use with solar panels... 25 hours of use on a single charge...) Im sure the Petzl is pretty comfortable to wear though, and as i usually only go on dayhikes, it seems like a reasonable choice - but at my favorite store for camping accessories, both the Petzl Bindi and the Nightcore NU32 are at sale for about the same price right now; and the Nightcore would serve me both on dayhikes and longer trips... Here are some comparison data on the 2 options: The Petzl weighs 35g and has a battery life of 50 hours @ 6 lumen, 3 hours @ 100 lumen, and 2 hours @ 200 lumen. The Nightcore weighs 100g and has 330 hours battery life @ 1 lumen, 50 hours @ 33 lumen, 17 hours @ 190 lumen, and 1 hour @ 550 lumen.

It is off course important to choose the right tool for you and your adventures, if a headlamp is important and maybe also hike during the night, there is a good reason to go for a bigger battery. My choice of the PETZL being, it’s mostly used around and in camp and maybe setting up camp if I’m late. I need the POWERBANK most for the phone and maybe also the camera and very rarely need to charge my headlamp. I believe you found the perfect one for you 🙂👍🏻

Hello. Thanks for the review. I’ve used the Zipka since 2007 as I love the versatility the retractable cable gives. You can attach it to anything and it fits in your pocket or in your bag perfectly. Have to replace a lost one and they are no longer available. Do you think the strap on the Bindi will work well to attach the light to trees, poles and straps?

Hi and yes, absolutely! I use mine sometimes when shooting vids in the dark to light up my face and with the strap I can mount it into my tripod 👍🏻 so a branch or something works just fine 👍🏻

Hi and yes. Still a good headlamp and one of the most popular and lightest options out there. The only reason I use the NU25 (2017 version) is because of the slightly brighter red light. If the specs is ok then go for it… for more red the old NU25 or if you want the new NU25 you get a USBC and slightly stronger output. I like the standard NU25 better due to the headband… but it’s a bit heavier. I recommend you watch also the two episodes on the NU25s I have made.
