    Great interview. Peter Seller's was popular with an American audience. You could see that in the interview. Great British actor. Cheers RIP

    @@KingKenny. I don't know the specifics of what he took in his later life but it has been suggested he was taking illegal drugs (cannabis and cocaine) and alcohol when he was married to his 4th wife Lynne Frederick (1977 - 1980).

    Neither was his son, who also died of a heart attack in his early 50s, 26 years later to the day after Peter died.

    A true genius, maybe the only actor, who deserved the OSCAR, which sadly did not find the way to him... He died decades too early. Bad timing, God, very bad timing!

    Unforgivable that an interviewer would get it wrong Especially as peter sellers has been quoted many times as saying his happiest time professionally was when he was doing the Goon shows

    I think you'll find that Gene said Go-on show like the BeebBeebCeeb did. Gene knew his stuff, did what he could to make Sellers feel comfortable and Peter looked so relaxed albeit ill.

    Yes, agreed. Gene Shalitt is obnoxious and seems incapable of actually listening to Sellers. He wastes time demanding Sellers assess various audiences in different parts of the world. What a waste! Sellers just finished “Being There” and is not allowed to simply talk about his movie.

    @@nellsun2521 He had severe cardiac problems. he was actually dead for a few minutes due to a massive heart atatck he had in LA.

    He's Gene Shalit. He was a film critic and Today Show regular for 40 years. He's still on the go - 91 this year.
