My life, when it is written, will read better than it lived. Henry Fitz-Empress, first Plantagenet, a king at twenty-one, the ablest soldier of an able time. He led men well, he cared for justice when he could and ruled, for thirty years, a state as great as Charlemagne's. He married out of love, a woman out of legend. Not in Alexandria, or Rome, or Camelot has there been such a queen. She bore him many children. But no sons. King Henry had no sons. He had three whiskered things but he disowned them. [to his sons] You're not mine! We're not connected! I deny you! None of you will get my kingdom; I leave you nothing and I wish you plague- may all your children breach and die! [storms out the corridor, turns and looks back] My boys are gone. I've lost my boys.

Look at that face, hear that voice. One of the greatest. Anthony Hopkins said the scene left him shaken.
It’s hard to believe that Peter O’Toole didn’t win an Oscar for this
And through the entire speech, Philip just stood there, sipping his wine, watching their family fall apart. He probably considered the whole thing to be his Christmas present.
"He married out of love with a woman out of legend" god how I love thata phrase!!!
The acting in A Lion in Winter surpasses much of what is called fine acting in all of movie history. Peter O'Toole is a force of nature in this role. Hepburn matched his Henry line for line, scene for scene.
When you hate your heirs in Crusader Kings.
Who cares about Oscars? Decades later we still have this brilliance on display, that's ALL that matters!
This man deserves more than an Oscar , he deserve immortality
Everyone talks Die Hard, but this may be my favorite unorthodox Christmas Movie.
Peter O'Toole gets my vote for the greatest voice for an actor of all time. Piercing, sharp, and oh so dramatic with a touch of the theatrical.
They don't make actors like Peter otoole anymore. He was genius. And never won an Oscar
Just greatness.
This is quite possibly my favorite movie scene of all time. O'Toole gives me goosebumps when he roars, we'll never see his likes again.
How I love this actor!
Every time this movie comes on TCM channel, I have to tune in. This film is a masterclass in acting, writing, and directing.
What a powerful, brilliant performance. As he speaks, he gradually builds up a facade of rage and bitterness, as if that’s all he’s feeling and nothing else, as if he can live without them. It’s only when he walks away and nobody is watching him that his anger melts and despair takes over with that heartbroken “I’ve lost my boys…” whispered with all the pain of a man bereaved of people who he truly loved and treasured even if he could never admit it.
I quote this all the time in my head when I have to deal with someone I'd rather not deal with. "You're not mine! We're not connected! I deny you!" Keeps me amused.
The greatest dialogue in filmdom..period!!!! This has been my favorite movie since its premiere in 68.I was a freshman in high school in NYC..44 yrs later Im a senior in life and its STILL my favorite movie!!!
THIS is an actor.
Damn that acting is so good, it blows most of today's movies out of the water.
