Peter Hitchens' Half Hour: “Boris Johnson Is Too Big A Star To Be Written Out The Soap Opera”

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that he is stepping down as an MP with immediate effect after an investigation into the ‘partygate’ scandal carried out by the Privileges Committee.
TalkTV’s Mike Graham is joined by Mail on Sunday columnist Peter Hitchens to discuss the former Prime Minister’s decision to resign as an MP, along with the week’s biggest stories.

@@colofsco1 , for all of Mike's shortcomings, he's fairly affable and jovial, and there's some times, albeit infrequent, where he can make even Hitchens laugh. However, it's the nature of the show isn't suited to discussing serious topics in depth.

But are other politicians any better? I don't really see any significant difference between all senior politicians in terms of policy or integrity. Sunak is all about managed decline. Re Ukraine- Russia situation. Neither side is strong enough to inflict decisive defeat on the other. The war will drag on until war weariness in either/both country/countries makes continuing the fight impossible. Then, some sort of messy compromise will be reached, probably involving Russia keeping some of the territory she has occupied since 2014. Very sad but i see no other outcome. The best Ukraine can hope for is a country with slightly less territory buttressed by solid guarantees from western powers. Some sort of pride salvaged on both sides and countless lives saved.

You are very much mistaken. The Russians are systematically destroying the Ukrainian armed forces using artillery, missiles and drones etc. To achieve this, very little actual movement on the map is necessary, as the Ukrainians come to them. The Russians will advance once they have defeated Ukraine in detail.

Like a fad, the muppets of Great Britain won't learn a thing, and will fall for the next dazzling charlatan to come along, just as they've done time and again. Britain remained free in part because it had a class that could think and challenge when really necessary, and the freedom of expression which permitted it. Now we have no class that is well educated or can think or see beyond their noses, and that doesn't want free expression. RIP one of the greatest civilisations in history. This is no joke, although there was no golden age, once our freedom and prosperity has completely disappeared, history may look back and wonder how an advanced culture screw things up so badly. Then again, with the way things are going, probably not.
