Don't know if it will ease the pain. My parents met, felt in love, and went all out at one of his concerts. 9 months later, i'm born. This was their wedding song and my mom passed 3 years ago, she should have 64 now. And even if they divorced long before that, my dad listens to this song once every day since. I feel you, he surely was a man of good taste and a great person.

There’s really no other song I know that comes alive so much more on stage. And this is probably the best of all the performances.

Saw a Peter Gabriel concert on Sky Arts last night. Was drawn by the haunting beat of Biko sending shivers up my spine, then this song came on and I thought two great artists with totally unique and recognisable voices working well together.

I like seeing artists of different background and cultures come together.

Así es, en el ocaso del gobierno de Raul Alfonsín y cuando su seguro sucesor, el canalla Carlos Menem, ya estaba preparando el indulto a los militares genocidas de la dictadura de 1976-1983, que dictaría (ya presidente) en 1989 y 1990. Un privilegio haber estado allí el día del recital organizado por Amnesty (que duró unas 8 hs.!), en el cual estuvieron -además de músicos locales de primera línea- otros capos como Sting, Bruce Springsteen, y un largo etcétera. I’ve shared this song with many girlfriends through my 44 years and I’m afraid I may never meet the one whom I can touch hands with and feel all this with, maybe it’s jus God and I.

This is what the entire world should be like. Black and white or any other color come together. Shout out to Peter Gabriel, who always brings african talented people to the light 🎉🎉🎉

Peter Gabriel is a genius. As much for its creativity (songwriter, singer, musician, showman) in the original Genesis as for its brilliant evolution in his solo career between technology, world music, experimental sounds with always melodic rock. More, Peter Gabriel is very generous because he gives the opportunity to sing to Youssou'N' Dour and to dance to the African dancer Manitou. Don't forget that's Peter Gabriel who said to Phil Collins: "Yes, you are our drummer (of Genesis)". Peter Gabriel sang also with the great like stars Kate Bush, Sting and Sinead O' Connor.

Born in the 70s: Peter Gabriel my musical father, Kate Bush my musical mother. Bless you my parents.

I truly believe this is one of the most amazing performances ever. Bar none.

There is just some music and some musicians whose craft transcends culture and generations Peter Gabriel is one of those . Maybe I am biased, but my generation had some of the most amazing music. My kids in their late 20s readily agree.

Well said. I have to Agree. My kids are in their 30's and just like their Mom they were raised around Music. And enjoyed playing as well. Initially "In your Eyes" was John Cusack with a Boom Box positioned above his head while serenading a girl. Peter Gabriel's artistic ability and gentle strength that pulls the audience into a World of Possibilities...

Yes! Complete and utter genius...Past ages were blessed to have had this caliber of excellence in Beethoven ,Mozart , Stravinsky..there is a level in humans that exceeds above and all in creativity and magnificence..Peter Gabriel is right up there with a crown...along with Kurt Cobain, Kim Morrison, David Byrne, Springsteen....how blessed we are!

Very few songs hit me deep with emotions like this. I literally break into tears everytime i hear this. Songs have differnt meanings to us. This hits deep for the love i have sacrificed raising my kids and grand kids. God bless Peter Gabriel for making this 61 yr old man cry in love

Peter Gabriel has the best fans! "Your vibe attracts your tribe!"

As much as I love any live performance of In Your Eyes over the last 35+ years, Peter’s performances of it during the Amnesty tour in the late 80s are the best. With a special nod to his 98 performance of the song at Amnesty in Paris.

He is so talented and entertaining. He really knows how to put on a show! So much energy from everyone. Rehearsals must be pretty intense, the whole concert is choreographed, and done really well. He fully understands that putting on a good concert is so much more than just playing the music like so many other bands do. And his videos are so great too. He is genius!

Peter Gabriel's music ....... spiritual...... he has that touch.

This performance makes me so happy I wanna cry.

C'est une chanson d'amour composée par Peter Gabriel pour l'héroïne du film " Le Grand Bleu" de Luc Besson. Cette chanson "In your Eyes" est jouée deux fois plus vite. Ce qui incite Peter Gabriel à chanter en anglais et dans une langue africaine, dansant comme un Africain à l'image de son ami chanteur sénégalais Youssou n' Dour, et de la danseuse Manitou qui affole par ses déenchements. Manu Katché excelle avec en plus une section rythmique africaine. Le pianiste part en solo et le violoniste joue le thème. C'est le top mondial.

I was lucky enough to have seen him on this tour. His presence envelopes the audience in a sublime joy! Thank you Peter for being such a good influence on me throughout my life! Namaste In my wedding I walked down the aisle to this song.

Amnesty International and the world music have a great importance for Peter Gabriel. However, the English gentleman Peter Gabriel was very well educated in a musical family (private Charterhouse College) in Surrey and could learning piano, flute, percussions, mime and dance. But his major asset will forever remain his charismatic voice for the producers. I have never seen Peter so happy to sing.... with his friend Youssou'n'Dour and his African dancer Manitou. Manitou is really incredible! Now, Peter Gabriel is now finishing his new album.

The positivity and love comes out in this performance. It is one of my favourite versions of this song.

Songs like this make me happy to be alive.😀👍😀👍

Los 70 minutos de su performance en el concierto de Amnesty por los derechos humanos en River fueron tal, vez, de lo mejor que se vio por estas tierras en materia de performances en vivo en la década de los 80s. Y por suerte para nosotros, por ser el último show de la gira, por la grabación para la televisación mundial, y por el background de 19 shows previos en 6 semanas, su set fue afiladísimo, incluyendo la puesta con la que giró 14 meses por el mundo presentando su album SO con sus luces robóticas, la banda, la presencia de L . Shankar en el violín y Youssou N`Dour en la segunda voz de la maravillosa "In Your eyes", y todo coronado por la participación de 75 mil que abarrotamos el campo y las tribunas del Monumental, para la combinación perfecta. I'm sobbing while watching this. My husband died last year and we used to watch and listen to everything available by these amazing people. He was a professional musician who toured the world. The lyrics are more profound to me more than ever. I was most fortunate to see this live. My Brother in law took me to the concert for my birthday. I miss looking into my husband's eyes.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in north Jersey and literally see close to 100 concerts as kid in NY/NJ area. I saw Peter Gabriel at Madison Square Garden late 80'ies. Definitely in the top three shows of all time

:)) I really couldn't believe this title when I saw Youssou N'dour and Peter Gabriel making a song together. I discovered Peter Gabriel through my father, and instantly loved his music. Youssou N'dour, I discovered during French class last year during the Manie Musicale 2022, in his featuring in the French song called "L'ours" by Christophe Mae and him. This style of blended cultures' music is amazing.

The name of the "Afriican drum" is sabar, the uniquely Senegalese drum that is the driving force of mbalax.
