Peter Falk - Der Himmel Uber Berlin (Wings of Desire) , 1987

Фильм және анимация

One of my favorite scenes with the great Peter Falk, from Wim Wenders' "Der Himmel Uber Berlin" (Wings of Desire)
Rest in Peace, Peter.
if you've never seen the whole film, you really are missing out. the Criterion Collection version is fantastic:

Saw this movie as a teenager - inspired me to go on a pilgrimage to Berlin, visit the original filming sites, hang out at snack stalls, drinking hot coffee on cold November days...

This scene literally saved my life, I was just in a bad place mentally emotionally physically and I just didn’t want to be here for the life of me, I clicked on this black and white movie,(they’re my favorite) and man…. The beauty in the little things, this movie changed the way I was looking at things, enjoy the little things, enjoy the people, enjoy life… I really didn’t wanna be here and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t gonna be here but this film was the one that kept me around, I’m not doing any better than before, but I have a different outlook on life, take it slow, enjoy it :) love ya 😊

It had a huge effect on me. Saw it in the late 80s, and definitely changed a lot about me. Something that I don't think modern film-makers even think they can aspire to.

As an art diarist/doodler, I always come back to this clip when I need a boost in my creativity. No idea why, but it's invigorating stuff! And I love Peter Falk's visual art too (worth checking out I must say), it's brilliant.

Great upload. Peter Falk was a great actor and - I'm sure - a great man. Columbo is the best program ever produced for TV, and then there are the earlier "character actor" parts, the John Cassavetes movies, etc... endless hours of pleasure for us, and forever.... R.I.P. Thanks for posting this

I was there last week, the place looks completely different but the bunker is still there with the same writing on and the remains of anhalter bahnhof, went to the library too, amazing place. I then went to the Sony centre to the film museum and there was a Wim Wenders exhibition on, good holiday!

@d R You won't recognise the area even if you walked right through it! The place I think you're on about is Potsdammer Platz. Where the old man sat in the chair with an overhead railway in the background? The RAF levelled the place, there was one building in the background that is now surrounded by high rise buildings. The building next to the circus was lifted and moved and is in the Sony building about 100 meters from where it was. You can go inside, it's where Nick Cave is playing in the film.

I was so taken by this scene - so mesmerized - that I felt compelled to rent this. And it’s a nice picture and all - don’t get me wrong, but I was under the impression that it would be more about this man’s suffering and being saved by this godsend Columbo. I was sort of thinking like what Capra did with Clarence. It was weirdly detached from that, emotionally. Still a nice film, though.

I was in Berlin about 3 months before I saw the film after it first opened - the whole picture I kept getting distracted with internal, "Yeah - was there, there, saw that, remember that, shot a photo of that..." it was like I had accidentally and unknowingly taken a tour of Wenders' list of exteriors.

PETER.
