Peter Dinklage | This is Why Only 1% SUCCEED and What 99% Are Not DOING

One of the Most Inspiring Speeches I've ever heard. Watch this until the end. Incredible Motivational Speech from the Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage aka Tyrion Lannister.
===========================================
Motivational Speech by Peter Dinklage.
Peter Dinklage initially struggled to find work as an actor, partially because he refused to take the roles typically offered to actors with his condition, such as "elves or leprechauns.'
He worked at a data processing company for SIX YEARS after being unable to pay rent with a failed business attempt starting a theater company.
As of 2018, he has won 11 awards from 58 nominations for his success as an actor. Don't give up on your dreams!
"Don't search for defining moments, they will never come." - Peter Dinklage

    I feel he never mentioned it, nor mentions it because it is his most obvious obstacle in a world filled to the brim with "height" people. He never has to mention it because we all know that was one of the things that he had to overcome very early in his life, if he was to survive as well as thrive in life. I think when you are born a certain way that may not be considered normal, you handle it much better and it never really bothers you because it is all you know...as oppose to those who end up a way that isn't deemed, considered normal. He most certainly is inspirational because he kept at his dreams...I just feel he doesn't mention his dwarfism because it's most obvious, not because he can't mention it, or doesn't have a right to mention it, or would be less of a person if he did mention it..or that he would be using it as an excuse...I truly believe it goes without saying, that is why he just doesn't do it. He's intelligent for that. Most intelligent people will already gather that information. Just as they would looking at a one armed person.

    I agree. Peter's speech content was eloquent, intelligent & genuinely engaging. The inclusion of film snips staging scenes of individuals yearning to find a path to real fulfillment in life was for the most part, artful & enjoyable to watch. Awareness of an awkward pairing of message with music, stemmed from the serial loop-like, anemic soundtrack that triggered an internal "info-mercial beware" warning. This schmeltzy marketing tactic detracted from the warm presence of mind, the kind & mesmerizing eyes & sage words being delivered by Mr. Dinklage. The music felt pitifully "out of synch", inadequate & dopy...droning on joylessly, like an unwelcome minor chord earworm, to a speech with a serious yet resoundingly encouraging message. Perhaps the contrast was intentional to impart a feeling of maudlin melodrama or melancholy, but it left me feeling I was being cheated of an unadulterated undistorted speech & subjected to ill-placed disruptive ads instead. The music neither complemented the content nor the earnest yet good humoured demeanor of the orator. Despite my complaining, I did glean that Peter delivered a meaningful testimonial to the rewards of humbly learning from our failures & pragmatically admitting "failures" as our greatest teachers. He is a good example of what I call a wayshower, exercising character constructive qualities like: patience, perseverence & passion to assertively follow what you love, refusing to cow to feelings of self- induced doubt & powerlessness. He also stressed the spiritually sound imperative to be kind to oneself as well as others.

    Some may well prefer a monotonous melancholic melody looping in the background to a speech intended to motivate. So it is a matter of personal aesthetics. At its core, Peter's speech was memorable & earnest, humane & entertaining, nuanced with humour & deserving of our reception despite the lackluster score.(two cents worthy?). Cynicism aside, companion music to motivational words certainly does not have to be "inspiring" in some syrupy, maudlin, romanticized style, sales-engineered meme or hyper- heroic cultural cliche. Classical instrumental compositions, blues or pieces from a dramatic musical like "Les Miserables" for example can be simultaneously serious, spirited & moving, but won't lull one to sleep.

    This isn't for us blue collar folk. One thing everyone forgets is that the world needs ditch diggers, plumbers, concrete finishers, iron workers, truck drivers and garbage men. Are we to say that these people do not dream? Absolutely not. The job must get done and mouths must get fed. I started swinging a hammer 30+ years ago and I still love it. Sure wish it paid well however. Blue collar is the backbone of our country yet we are considered replaceable and expendable. We are actually needed in society unlike actors/personalities. Now if only we were rewarded like them.

    Very true. There's no way everyone can be some sort of star. But you don't need the applause of the world to take some pride in a job well done. I remember mowing the lawn as a kid, taking a moment to enjoy how tidy that lawn looked when I was done. The thing is to actually contribute. That said, everyone who works a full-time job should be paid enough to have a reasonably comfortable life. Let's work to make that happen.

    I'm white collar and I don't consider blue collar folk replaceable or expandable. I view those jobs as important and dignified, like the general attitude I see in Italy. @@CharlieCleveland the mentality may be a bit different in Italy. In Japan, for example, carpenters are held in high esteem. The banker bows to the carpenter. You must admit no one says, when they're 7 years old, that 'I want to dig ditches'. We all must wake up to the fact that we all cannot be stars. Whether we like it or not we must step on others to achieve our goals. The human shit pile (pardon my french) is like a pyramid. There's only so room at the top

    john smith Yea not everyone wants to be rich and famous. Lots of people work really hard and still struggle to get by on the hard earned money they get. We need garbage men and plumbers and cleaners more than we need actors and sports players. Sure they entertain us but if we had to we could afford to lose them. Its never made sense to me, how ridiculously we pay some of those jobs.

That's the statistical truth. How many people are truly going to become stars? Fair enough if you just want to do it because you enjoy it but I wouldn't do it with the idea that it will be a living. Yeah... so why is it that liberals are always whining about being in the 99% as though the success of the 1% was somehow at their expense. It wasn't. It hasn't been since the day of the robber barrens. If you are in the so-called 99%, it's by your choice. Stop being a victim. The poorest, most "disenfranchised" Americans have access to things that kings and queens could have only dreamt of just a few generations ago -- safe food, access to medical care, electricity, indoor plumbing, instant access to information at the click of a mouse, free education, free food, free housing, a plethora of governmental and charitable organizations literally trying to give away money and stuff. The list goes on and on and on. Don't like your lot in life? Get off your ass and do something about it. And stop expecting the rest of us to pave your way to success.

    Awesome speech! Mr. Dinklage is the epitome of self confidence in my opinion. When I see him act in GoT, or when I watch him give speeches like this one, All i see/here is a confident, intelligent man. To be able to carry himself so well, that I dont even notice his short stature. Seeing someone with his lack of average height, walk into a room and look like he is 7 feet tall and command everyone else in the rooms attention and respect is more motivating than anything else i know of. Having a drink with Peter is on my Bucket List. P.S. Save the cheesy Dramatic fluff for content that is lacking. Would have enjoyed the video much more, if I could have just listened to him speak. I dont need to feel like I am about to free fall down to earth off the International space station every few minutes....
