    As Autumn says, they were the ONLY exotics insurance in the US. I'd still recommend getting it, however. Protip as Autumn says, get the insurance ASAP vs. waiting for a few vet visits for pre-existing condition to show up. I've made that mistake previously with my pigs and one cannot be insured due to the ovarian cysts found during her spay. Thanks for bringing attention to this, Autumn!

    Of course!! I don’t have all my pigs insured as it would cost so much per month 😅 but I definitely recommend it for rabbits or if you only have a few pigs

    My friends guinea pig Scruffy had that exact eye issue last year, they surgically removed it and sent it out to test for cancer, came back cancer free and a year later now he's doing fantastic. I hope Rocket's eye heals on it's own without needing the surgery.

    Oh, bless you, Autumn. What an expensive month for you. Looks like what they call cherry Eye, exactly what yoyr vet has said he has, swallon glands on their eye lids, dogs, cats, and rabbits can get it too I hope all of your pets get better soon, ❤❤❤❤

    Insurance is so worth it! I take it out as soon as I get the animal to avoid pre existing issues where possible. Only one insurer here I think insures exotics for life time cover so not much choice here either however rabbit insurance is pretty common.

    Oh wow! My bunny had front teeth issues in the past and we have an insurance too. I wanted to check his molars because he had some GI issues, we wanted to be sure that there was nothing wrong and our insurance didn’t cover the testing because he had issues in the past with his front teeth. Luckily America isn’t like this and separate front teeth with molars. Belgium sees it like a whole package😢

    We also were checking for an ear infection, so that may have been why they covered it. I’m not sure they’d cover his surgeries

    I had nationwide pet insurance for my dog, they did not cover a whole lot with the emergency bill. I also had to pause the insurance as well because they were increasing the age of my dog month by month. Hopefully nationwide helps with your bunnies!

    @@autumngrace. my small dog got attacked by a coyote about two years ago now, he needed to go to the emergency vet and it was 300,000 and the insurance only covered 1,000 so I’m still currently in debt from his second coyote attack. The insurance did not help a lot. The first coyote attack I didn’t have insurance but my vet was open at the time and so I didnt have to worry about going to the emergency vet, so wasn’t that expensive. But the second coyote attack was not good because my vet wasn’t open for another thirty minutes and I did not want to push that when he had labored breathing etc.

    My guinea pigs have had little eye things that looks like that, my vet told me this sort of thing can be really common, it usually ends up just being cosmetic and not life threatening, it was definitely a hard lesson to learn for me cause i also had no idea how common it was.

    Autumn, I hope you see this! My name is Autumn, and Im pretty young and trying to convince my mom to get me Guinea pigs. You are helping me do my research on Guinea pigs! I found 2 2 1/2 old male Guinea pigs for sale at a local pet store and I don’t know (if I can get Guinea pigs) that I should buy them, considering they are in a pet store. I have done a lot of research on hamsters and I know that buying them from pet stores is a bad idea, I dont know if it’s the same for Guinea pigs. If I can get Guinea pigs, should I buy the Guinea pigs from the pet store? If I can get Guinea pigs I think I will ask the employees if they are fixed and if they are from a good breeder, do you think I should do that? I would love your opinion, sorry if this is too much to read! I hope your pets get better! ❤

    Hi, not autumn. All guinea pigs in pet stores are not fixed. If your parents are not willing to help with the costs of supplies and upkeep, I would wait until you are old enough to get a job to pay for them.

    I have several rabbits but have never dealt with dental issues. Question.. what is the argument against going ahead and removing the back teeth? Also, i have never heard of a vet not treating an ear infection regardless of severity. From one bun mom to another... this is super weird to me. Second opinion on that?

  • @autumngrace.

    @autumngrace.

    3 ай бұрын

    Hey! The back teeth, while growing incorrectly, are still very strong and healthy so the surgery would be difficult. The vet could go in there to remove and only end up getting one or two teeth out. As far as the ear infection I think it’s just some debris in there, so not worth any surgery. I suppose I could ask about meds in the future!

    Vet bills are brutal I have a 6 year old boy with a big cyst on a side of his neck His behavior hasn’t changed at all Estimate for surgery $1300+ and considering his age and location of a cyst I’m not sure if I’m up for a surgery

    I totally understand you 😣 I spent around $1600 to have Kodas teeth removed the first time so it’s sucks to potentially have to remove more. If you do decide to do it the care credit credit card has 0% APR for 6 months for vet bills!

    The rabbit thing happened from incorrect diet, and i also see your previous rabbit passed from GI which can also be from diet, they're eating too much hay which isn't even a part of their necessary diet. It should mainly be from pellets

  • @autumngrace.

    @autumngrace.

    2 ай бұрын

    Incorrect! The issues with my rabbits teeth are genetic, my vet has confirmed so. And their diet should absolutely not be mainly from pellets. My previous rabbit passed because his ear infection spread into his blood stream and he went into sepsis, which caused GI issues as a side effect. It was not the original issue.

    Is this comment a joke? I mean you seem to have pigs yourself and you do really think that they should not be eating hay 😂 🙈😂
