Hahahahah the truth
It's so refreshing to head that. I used to be a tattoo artist/apprentice for a couple of years and the pressure ATE me. I've thought every blowout was my fault, that I needed to "find my style" and be responsible for the feelings of my clients. Looking back, I definitely did decent tattoos, even though I went for fine line as my style and cringed when healed lines weren't perfect. Same thing with the tattoos I was getting. I'm only glad I haven't gone for something big. Anyway, I still create illustrations and perfectionism has been an obstacle for so long. I really enjoy your stuff you put out here and your personal perspective. Have a good one.
One of the reasons why I love the tattoos you do is because the lines are so clean. But I get what you mean and a little originality makes the tattoos even better
I absolutely feel every word! I tend to look for something that "speaks" to me, not something that shows how good it is. Both as a client and a tattoo artist. But dude, it's a weird situation when you are sorta new to the job amd you get random clients that want something with complete different vibes and keep asking (before AND DURING the tattoo) "is it gonna be good? Are you good at it? Is it coming out perfect?" and days after the tattoo they send you pictures like "omg there is something COMPLETELY wrong! Look" and they show a single shading dot that is less than a millimeter more to the left than it was in the sketch... Ugh, can't wait to have more practice and experience and to be able to prioritize client that want my kind of tattooing (not only for me, but also for them cause they'll have a much more enjoyable experience)
Thisss omg...i struggle with getting my artwork perfect ill spend weeks drawing the same thing over n over again making small changes here n there until its perfectly what i vision in my head n its torture.....

Free yourself friend, fail on purpose
Love this video. In another video you pointed out an American traditional tattoo that wasn't perfect...but also was so good. You said they should look like folk art...I love that and I feel that's something lost in American traditional tattoos.

You and me are on the same page friend
Pickleball is a blast if you have some good buddies to go play with! But also - you're in Mexico and socal so you can play Padel which imo is even more fun. Love the videos man - watched all of them and will continue to do so
Yes. I'm going to a new artist/apprentice lately and she has an art background so I try to give her or push for freedom when designing a tattoo. I'll give ideas and inspiration but I want someone to be free to create. it's something I've only just been able to get after around 20 years of getting tattooed.
just what i needed to hear... thanks for this video !!

Hey! Thank you
I live it... though not via pickleball 😊
Mistakes are the only way we grow as artists. Perfectionism is the antithesis of this. Lets not forget what Bob Ross taught an entire generation (and more) of artists.
