    if you know what you're doing and could make it work. If you don't, better to keep it more simple. it's about the end result anyway, no one cares that you used X amount of colour if it looks like rainbow eyestrain simulator 2000. Art has no rules but you could always make it look more pleasing.

    I've heard about color theory forever but never knew what it was. When I do anything involving color, I've always just kept it simple: base or background color, the foreground or primary, main or predominant color, and no more than 2 accent colors, whether they're part of the same color band or their opposite comp color. I also find that one color with white or black is usually spectacularly eye catching as well. Even if I did a tie dye print or some active noisy image, I tone it way down with background, foreground, 2 accents and if it works, black/white and a pop of color. Never had any issues with overuse of color lol. Even my home decor is this way.

He’s that discarded character from Wizard of Oz who’s missing a sense of humor. Please don’t listen to him. The masses have spoken. We love the Chris & Chris show. - I love pubbles.

    Nah, I do too. I just don’t like the desaturated colors he chose for the left. If his limited color pallet was had the same reds and greens of the first one I might feel differently though. Tbf, I also sorta disagree with the premise. Maybe a limited color pallet is his art style (and mine tbh) but I think letting the medium having more of a hand in the work is sometimes cool. One of the advantages of digital art is the wide range of colors and the ease of changing them.

  • @chris-piascik

    @chris-piascik

    I agree for the most part, but the point I was trying to make was that being intentional with our color choices will lead to better work. It doesn’t have to be a limited palette, but maybe starting minimally can be helpful. Ultimately you’re right, these are my preferences and there’s always exceptions to every “rule”.

    Not going to lie, the weird ass random side crap makes your videos damn near unwatchable. Like every time you almost make a point, one of those things just completely interrupts the flow of thought and blows your point completely out of the water. It’s a shame, because you’re clearly sharing useful, important information, but you’re so concerned with being hilarious, that you’ll willfully ruin your own point just for the haha’s. It doesn’t make your videos funny, it makes them a waste of time.
