one could also look at it in a different way; the man, revealed through Dialogue to be some sort of reporter, mentions a massacre downtown. as a reporter, the victims could be seen as just 'furniture' to the big scoop; some crazed lunatic going on a rampage.

There are more reasons to not smoke than just cancer. Leonard Nimoy was a smoker (though he quit in the 1980s,) but the damage was done. He had trouble breathing, and died at 83. He started smoking when it was seen as a healthy thing to do, back when doctors recommended smoking in magazines. (That stopped in the mid 1950s, I think.)

My brother in law has tumors, non cancerous but they were in his brain and on the brain stem so cost him some eyesight, mobility, speech, hearing... After his surgery he's able to walk and speak no problem but his eyesight and hearing won't recover and there's a chance they'll grow back cause you can't just remove the bits on the brain stem. This game really hits hard. The metaphor is just perfect with the sledgehammer probably being invasive and destructive treatment options like chemo or surgeries. It really is a case of 'They're not good at hiding but you'll probably swing a sledgehammer through some normal stuff as well if you try to treat them.'

Go look up "World Without Cancer." My Mom had Melanoma on her arm. Despite being a smoker at the age of 69, it was Melanoma on her arm and she had no cancer on her internal organs. I gave her Apricot Kernels to eat for a week and a half or so, although she still had the surgery; the surgeon said that the tumor _shrunk._ The hospital's surprised at the fact that my Mom isn't getting worse, and she has had no Chemo or drugs to combat cancer at _all._ The thing that supposedly combats cancer is "Vitamin B17" in the Kernels. I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't have some faith in it, though I have no real _proof,_ and I don't think I'll get much proof scientifically. I think there could be too many politics, too many cooks, too much money at stake at the cost of people's lives. If you read "World Without Cancer," it might all make sense. Science can be manipulated to make whatever result you want, after all, can't it?! Also, I ate Apricot Kernels myself; up to 30 Bitter ones at once. I had no Cancer, but I did get Brain Fog from eating too many at once without Cancer, so there is a level that is unhealthy. B17 is composed of four things: 2 parts Sugar, 1 part _cyanide,_ and 1 part something I forgot that starts with a B. Mind you, I'm informing you of this. I WANT you to be informed of my experience here. Also, I've had some luck with Apples and Lion's Mane Mushroom relieving the brain fog. Truth be told, the robot factory (slavery to the rubbish side of capitalism) LOVES you... So please step into the cocaine shredder, if you want to go to hell. However, I ask you not to. This feels like hunting mimics in prey. However, after seeing the playthrough I now see the meaning of the game; Cancer is the perfect vermin. It looks like useful cells but they’re in the wrong place. If your cells could care about it, it would be gone with ease. During this whole time the news anchor is dying from cancer, and the office you’re in is representative of the massacre down town at the same time- the metaphorical story of the Anchor’s life. After all, your death will be meaningless if nobody remembers that you lived.

I THINK the metaphor going on here is that you are effectively a white blood cell tasked with protecting the body from cancer with the TV host being the body you are occupying. Cancer for those who don't know is effectively your body's cells not function properly in a certain way and instead of naturally dying so new ones may form instead replicate into cells that aren't right for your body, there is obviously far more to it then that, but that is a gist but that is why the furniture you have to kill looks the exact same as the furniture that is supposed to naturally be there. Eventually, your white blood cells literally can't keep up much like the final level where the building is every which way and it doesn't have time to clear out the problems before more sprout and the body dies. That is just my theory of what is going on.

In the end, only one crew member survived, and called for a rescue ship! The story ended with an open ending, the rescue ship itself was consumed along with all its crews on board and the alien disguised itself as the whole rescue ship! The surviving crew of the island couldn't tell the difference, but he noticed that something's definitely off! No crew on the ship! The story ended here! I've forgotten the name of that novel! But I'm sure it's not Asimov's!!

The details on the newscasters body are by far some of the coolest and creepiest I've ever seen and their so small too. It started of with yellow teeth, bloody nose, blackened finger nails, small tumors and then the tumors spread. That's horrific detailing in the best way possible, because it shows how the small little issues can build up overtime into something truly terrifying.

So damm deep ! A creative take on addressing cancer. The character we play might be a metaphor for white blood cell destroying the cancer cells. Cancer are human cells that grow uncontrolably and almost every single method of combating cancer will result in collateral damage to the body which explain why the monster look like furniture and you are certain to break alot of things (doors, furniture). As the game progress, we can see the man looking worse and the ash tray on the bottom left keep stacking up so it imply that he has lung cancer. The line" don't worry about the timer, it's not for you" and "i'm being unborn" really hits hard. The final level is practically impossible, suggesting that the cancer has spread to far in the body. This game has better writting than The last of us part 2. Should be a PSA for anti smoking. I don't smoke but i'm scared shitless after seeing this ! Thank you ABG for bringing this masterpiece to us ! P/s: sorry for my bad English

(because quality horror works with your emotions and a slow burn in fear, NOT with cheap jumpscares or loud/scary noises...) but apart from that, the game had a great message about smoking, cancer and the mistake of doing wrong things and finding the results of your actions in the future... i also liked the old man's quote near the end: ''No one will care about my death if I don't prove to them that I lived.'' it was beautiful, and a great game in general.

I thought the twist would be that the mimics you killed were actually people you were hallucinating as monsters, but then the moment he started crying about how he let himself die like his own mother did, I realized this was a more personal horror story... The office is an internal metaphor with cancer monsters hidden in plain sight. The sledgehammer represents invasive treatments to cancer which is desperate and potentially won't even work. And during the final stage, it's impossible to win, signifying that it's all hopeless to fight, at least at that point. The cancer victim keeps getting more and more desperate, but he just can't stop smoking and it gets him worse and worse, making it harder and harder to destroy the cancer, all up until it mutates him and he says that you did the best you could and you don't have to try to win anymore...

This game took a sledgehammer to my doggamned feelings with that ending 😢 and I was not ready for that. In hindsight, the dedication in the beginning was a clue. Warning for possible spoilers below... I was suspicious from the first about needing to kill 'monstrous furniture' identified by it's odd location, once I realised each 'monster' is where a person might be standing, and makes a noise that actually sounds much more human than the anchorman's voice. It also makes sense why the game *begins* with the killing spree, and the anchorman pleads for you to continue, to keep trying. He even projects his illness onto you, referring to the furnisters as a spreading infection. The anchorman's voice sounds much more human in the doctor's office, as well. Honestly, great game!
