Man i have to say, this is probably the best "how to" 3d printing channel. There is just something with "older" people that they explain everything clearly and properly. Its often i watch a video and end it with more questions than i had before the videom but now that i found your channel i find everything i need and alot more info i could need. Oh and there was a long time i wondered why people dont use a leveling tool to level until you explained that its not actually leveling but making the bed paralell with the nozzle 😅. Now it makes alot more sense

I know this is an older video, but this was incredibly helpful. Most other tutorials about leveling just sort of gloss over the leveling process and don't even talk about manually setting up a mesh. I'm new to 3D printing, and was so frustrated I was about to throw my new Ender 3 V2 out of the window. lol Now things are printing incredibly well. Thanks very much for taking the time to make these videos.

Many thanks BV. I've been very happy with the JyersUI software, which I installed shortly after your video. In particular the way it captures BLTouch failures. Marlin had often (4 or 5 times) notified me that the BLTouch sensor had mis-fired by letting the Z stepper motor skip as it tried to push the nozzle through the build plate. Jyers just stops everything and puts a notification on the display. Love the auto meshing too, and the visualization of the leveling results. I had an issue with the left side being lower than the right. This feature helped me see (and correct) the problem.

This was such a useful video! Thanks very much. I too had the same problem of a quite pronounced dip in the middle of my Ender3 V2 bed and even levelling the sides meant that prints in the middle kept lifting off. After installing the Jyers firmware and following your instructions, the prints are perfect!!!!

Thank you so much for introducing me to the Jyer's UI for the Ender 3 v2. It really makes the printer much easier to use. I downloaded the 5x5 manual mesh version and it's working great. I've had to do some trial and error to get it tuned but I'm making progress. I'm an American residing in Ecuador. When I go back to the U.S. for the holidays I'm going to get a CR Touch to automate the process of fine tuning the leveling of the bed, but the manual mesh is a great help. Thanks again.

DUDE! I'm using this firmware and despite trying a bazillion times to use mesh leveling, your video taught me how to do it the good way! For whatever reason, since the mesh leveling process starts at Z=0.2, I assumed (wrongly) that I need to get a 0.2mm gauge and adjust the microsteps so in that particular point the nozzle is low enough to grab the feeler gauge. I was so wrong! I need to use the thinnest one I have (0.01 AFAIR) so that I'm leveling as near 0 as possible. Thanks a lot! You've just gained a sub. Keep up the great work! Woohoo!

Bryan, thanks for posting your videos on KZread, always informative, and you make it easy to learn new stuff to help with running a 3d printer. I have a suggestion for a future video. It's possible to take an Ender 3 pro and convert it to using the V2 screen instead of the stock screen. One thing I haven't seen a lot of information on is the fact that if you do this you can then install and run the JyersUI firmware on it as well, providing you have a 4.2.x or newer mainboard. I decided to try the process and it was super simple to do. Doing a video for this conversion might be a good one to do to help folks out.

Hi Bryan, many, many thanks for this awesome video. I was sttruggling to get my bed leveled and almost gave up on it. It turned out that I have a bump in the middle of my bed, so until I found this video it was a matter of choosing between nice prints in the middle and not so good bed adhesion outwards or good adhesion everywhere and in the middle everything squished to the bed like crazy. (I couldn't get my products from the bed unless using brute force) Now, with the level mesh I have very nice prints all over the bed. I have ordered a BLTouch already and I wil install it, but this method already works perfectly.

So I need to leave my comment and thank you Bryan for this tutorial and your video on updating the firmware to the JyersUI. Beginner's advice from my experience: The CR Touch is not such a necessary upgrade, but it helps so much ONLY when you understand how to manually level your bed, calibrate your printer and use the JyersUI features for manually trimming which are a Godsent. Thanks again Bryan!!!

You my friend are awesome. I watched the Jyers firmware video and got motivated to put the firmware on my printer after it has been sitting for about two months. That was easy peasy and now i feel confident in getting my bed level and getting my printer usable again. I'm no programmer and I've tried a few times to compile the Marlin from scratch but I kept getting errors and I think my VS code is set up incorrectly. Idk how that sorcery works so I gave up until your Jyers video popped up and I thought "what the hell, let's try it." Worked like a charm and my printer is currently making a mesh. Thinking of what to print my people for christmas. Thank you.

Hey Bryan, I am already a follower of your channel and have learnt a lot since jumping into the 3D printing just a month ago. Let me tell you that I had been struggling to understand Manual Mesh bed leveling and your video (as usual) is the best in explaining the concepts as well as the steps needed. I just found out that JyersUI might not be a supported firmware anymore and going forward I am hearing that Mriscoc Professional is the firmware of choice for Ender 3V2. Could you please do a video showing step by step procedure on that firmware as well? Or is it going to be the same as JyersUI? Thanks and keep up the great work.

I don't hardly ever move my printers once they're installed, so I have been using manual mesh levelling since it was introduced in Marlin. No need to go through the rigamarole of setting up a BLTouch or inductive probe. Like Ron Popeil says "Just set it....and forget it!"

The nice thing about a bltouch is that it easily allows you to change print beds without having to re-level. To me, that's the biggest advantage. You still want to level your bed as good as possible manually.

Many thanks for your guidance! I have installed the firmware and everything is great except after power cycle the option "Auto leveling" in UI is allways off and I'm going to switch it on every time I power up the printer. I have tried several times to store the settings and while the manual mesh settings are remembered this exact setting is allways off at power up. Do the M420 S1 option overrides this? Thanks!

Really useful tutorial for leveling and setting up Manual Mesh. One question I have is if you are using a feeler gauge instead of a piece of paper for the manual mesh setup, should you do anything different? I used one and my values were all much closer to .20 it starts you off with then what yours gets to. Also I printed the square that takes up most of the bed and it looked good at first but when trying to peel it off, all the individual diagonal strands separated. Is that because my bed is still too far from nozzle or just a byproduct of the one layer print?

Hey man I’ve got a serious issue I just added a bltouch to my e3v2 and during mesh it goes to the middle of the build plate ( facing the printer right middle section) and it’s only probing the part as it’s supposed to be probing across the mid section and starts hitting its limits opposite of the end stop is there a fix for this?

Question : so just add that m420 code, and no need to tick "enable mesh leveling" option before print? I've used mesh leveling before but didn't add any M commands in slicer, I kept going to level> tick the mesh leveling enable then print. Hmmm...

Hello Bryan, Thank you for such a informative video. I have just purchased a Ender 3 V2 and first attempt ended with filament all over nozzel and threading all over the item I was printing One thing I am not clear on with the levelling with the bltouch. Do you set the bed at fully tightened or loose?

Thanks for explanation Bryan! Can you make a sumarry of possible bed leveling methodes for the Ender 3V2? I´m using a BL Touch and I´m happy with it. Are there pros and cons for all the bed leveling methodes?

Hi Bryan- thanks for your vids! I've had a ender 3 v2 for a few weeks now, and with your help I have the jyers firmware/UI and everything is mostly working fantastic. I've done both manual and mesh leveling. Some of the more intricate things I try to print like things with gears, etc are still failing due to bottom layer squish / elephant foot / binding. Have you done any videos that address this? Also, it would be awesome if you could further explain the Z offset towards the end of the video. Do you check/change this offset on every print? Does it need to be set back to 0.00 if you want to manually tweak the mesh levels, etc? Everything else in the video made perfect sense to me except for that little bit on the z-offset! Thanks again!!

The Z offset adjustment is used to 'offset' the thickness of the paper used when the bed was levelled.

@@jakewill8702 The z-offset moves the nozzle closer or further from the bed. When you are doing your first test you finetune that distance with z-offset to get optimal bed-nozzle distance.

@@jenswarth1672 It's not a necessity to do if you get it perfect. You just use it to adjust the bed nozzle distance if you feel you're to close/far. When i did this i was too close so i had to adjust like 0.4

Great Video i was actually waiting for the video but since learnt to do it myself its great to know i was right on target as a noob ;) But can you show the process before this one ? placement of the Z axis switch knob height for beginners ?

As a noob I struggled with that as well! I even damaged my PEI as I was setting the Z-axis and then creating the mesh which now I know isn't the correct process :-(

@@KingNothing22 yes, but you use the BlTouch to do the manual bedleveling, instead of using the paper or Post-it. That was my point. The BLTouch probes the corners and guide you to turn the levelings knobs up or down.

Can you use JyersUI on the ender 3S1? I’m having major issues getting my bed level to get clean prints. There seems to be high and low spots and I when I attempt to fix it using the octoprint bed visualizer when I add tape to raise a low spot it seems to be doing the opposite according to a re bed visual. I’m curious to try the med leveling

How can be z-offset negative? as wie have a z-axis motor stop by 0.0z ? I just don't get it. Before we begin with manual mesh levelling, we adjust the bed. Tis is already 0.0. The values below 0 would scratch the bed, or I don't get it correctly?

This video helped my first layer tremendously after manually setting the Z offset for each point. Any chance you might know why the fan settings I have set in the creality slicer are ignored when going to print? I have my initial fan speed at 5% with regular at 90 but they never turn on automatically.

Hi Bryan, Great info in this video. I have tried this and then when my Ender3v2 (with a BL Touch fitted) goes and does a print there is a total difference... I am guessing the BL Touch overrides the new mesh saved and stuffs it all up.. how do I fix this please?

will this work for the standard ender 3 with a 4.2.7 board or is the new display of the v2 a must have... or could you get away with messing with the firmware and changing the display type back to the standard ender 3 model?

Hello. Congratulations very good video. One doubt. I have saw that my ender 3 is slow down Z changes when auto-leveling is active (after create manual mesh. My ender hasn't BLTouch) is it normal functionality or maybe is a trouble with the firmware? Thanks. I have JyersUI 1.3.5 with 4.2.7 board and Manual Mesh version (without BLTouch)

I just did the Jyers update. In my start-up commands I had a pause to allow me to tweak the Z offset before printing the job. After installing Jyers, these commands now result in the Z axis moving up and asking whether or not I want to purge more material. When I remove those commands from start-up, it executes fine. Any idea what's happening? I'd like to be able to use those pause commands with Jyers.

I added the line "M420 S1 ; Enable mesh stored in EEPROM" after the line "G28 Z0". but right after the new line i added i have this: " G29 ; initiate z-probing " , does it need to be deleted? it looks like the 9 point z probing it does before each print, I'm just worried that this will override the mesh, am i really off base here?
