✅ Air Fryer Steak - Perfect Every Time
INGREDIENTS
2 Ribeye or New York Strip steaks (go for 1 1/2 inches thick)
avocado oil
salt
GARLIC HERB BUTTER
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Temper the steak by letting it sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
Prepare the garlic butter by mixing together the softened butter, parsley, garlic, Worcestershire, and salt.
Pat steaks dry with paper towels, then rub a little bit of oil over the steak and bottom of air fryer basket. Liberally season steaks with salt and pepper.
Preheat air fryer to 400°F/200°C for 10 minutes.
Once preheated, place steaks in air fryer.
Cook for 10-16 minutes, flipping and rotating halfway through.
Cooking time will vary depending on your air fryer and thickness of steaks. Internal temperature of steak should be 130°-135°F/54.4-57.2°C for medium-rare or 140°-145°F/60-62.8°C for medium.
Remove steak from air fryer and place on baking rack. Top with garlic butter and allow to rest for 1/2 the time it took to cook.
Alternatively, turn off air fryer, leaving steaks in it, top steaks with butter, close air fryer and let rest for half the amount of time it took to cook.

For a twist try the air fryer reverse sear method, when you have a little more time and access to a hot pan. The goal here is to get an insanely brown crust. Cook at 170 F for about 20 min, depending on thickness, flipping and rotating once. When the internal temperature is 115 F, use a super hot pan to get the brown crust on - about a min on each side. Look up Helen Rennie’s video on reverse sear for more tips. The air fryer subs in for the oven bit.

Try cooking it in a frying pan. Let your steak sit out at room temp for about 30 mins and season with black peppercorn and sea salt only. Put olive oil in the pan and let it get hot until it's almost smoking but not smoking out the steak down for 1 minute and flip over 1 minute on the other side. After the second minute is up throw in a half stick of butter, smashed garlic cloves and thyme. Cook for 1 minute each side spooning the butter mixture over the whole time and flipping after each minute for about 4 minutes. Feel the steak and it should have the same texture as the meat on the bottom part of you palm next to the base of your thumb. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before you cut it so the juices don't spill out. It's way better this way but air fryer is ok for quick and easy

Had my air fryer for a couple of years and I've never cooked steak in it. To be honest, I don't eat steak that much, it's too expensive for my budget. However, I've been buying these three packs of steaks at ALDI that cost $6-8. Last time I simple sliced them up and marinated them in some Korean sauce and stir fried them. But this time I wanted a steak. So I cut up two to marinate and cooked the last one in the air fryer per your instructions. OH MY GOODNESS! Best steak I've had...EVER! I had trimmed the fat and a little meat off of the other two steaks that I was going to marinate and through those off cuts in the air fryer as well. EVEN BETTER than the steak. Crispy outside, juicy inside and the fat added so much flavor. I'm never cooking steak any other way again!

I bought an "air fryer" about a decade ago as a kitchen curiosity, (I don't eat chips) used it once, and put it away, but about a year ago I watched a few of your videos and came to realise this is the most significant kitchen appliance since the microwave. Everything I've done (lots with your guidance) has been a triumph, I've since bought two more; the same model that you have, one for the kitchen and one for the terrace to use in the summer. With a bit of guidance these things are incredible. Thanks for all of your videos :)

@@empoweredcooks I love the cooked food it produces, there seems to be a fair amount of leeway?, Basically everything from chicken Maryland to a rack of lamb comes out very very perfect, and if you're feeling wild; try chestnuts (with a knife/slice around the widest point) on high for 17 minutes and suddenly you've got roast-chestnuts with zero fuss. As mentioned; the most significant kitchen appliance since the microwave?. Again thanks for the great Edu/Vids ;)

I found a really good seasoning from McCormick called smokey montreal steak seasoning and the steak tastes like it came off the grill. after your tipp i got a termometer like this, its so helpful with chicken Tights. Simply insane how plain Meat can taste i wont even need salt they have so much juice in it. Even after rested in fridge over night they stil insanely juicy to be eaten cold. I run them on 170°C 15 min , than ramp up to 205°C for 1 mins ... insanely good, i put mine on the skewer Rack, all the air can crirculate and fat / juice runs down. They become so crispy and juicy.

Onion salt, black pepper, garlic powder, oregano and paprika is how I season my steaks. I love a good steak, I heard from a friend they a great in the air fryer (which I tend to use for chips, mozerella sticks, spring rolls and chilli cheese bites) so I thought I'd look it up, because it's not the season to cook outside in northern Europe and my mother visited today, bringing me a fillet steak as a gift! I was very happy. She brought me a fillet steak, a samosa (which I just ate) some cheese and a pre made chicken en croute. Yum yum yum! I'm very happy with her gifts, she can have some of my home made cake and her fave, my home made mild cheese.

Just made grocery store New York strips in the air fryer for dinner today. Took them out of their packages and put them in the air fryer basket. Cooked 6 minutes each side at 400ºF. Temp was 147ºF after 12 minutes. Perfect. Moist. Tender. Mouthwateringly delicious. Salted at the table. If I had seen this video first I might have been scared off cooking them in the air fryer! All that work! ha ha ha The butter reminded me… My mother used to grill steaks to the texture of shoe soles, and then pour melted butter over them.

Great recipe, I absolutely love your channel and subscribed a while ago, just one thing though, I've noticed on a few channels that you guys sometimes have trouble pronouncing Worcestershire. Don't bother with the 'c' it's pretty much obsolete so if you were to write it as we pronounce it here in the UK, it would be written as wustersher....'wust' as in bust, 'er' as in the er at the end of burger and 'sher' as in sherman (tank), wust-er-sher. Hope that helps, it's a pretty stupid word even for us (unless you actually live in Worcestershire, then it's great 😂)x
