series is great just so y'all know, the kids are kids. The girl playing Ares daughter is 17, same age as dude that plays Grover. even the dude that plays Luke is 19. no 30 year olds playing teens Also, Hades isn't hell. in the mythology, everyone goes to hades after death, that is where you're judged and then sent to wherever

People don't hate the movies cause they don't stay true to everything, people hate them because it's a completely different idea. The only thing they kept the same to the book was who the Lightning Theif was. One of the biggest plot points revolved around Ares and Kronos and neiither were even in the movie lol

Leave Grover alone… Justice for Grover. He had to snitch on Percy or else Percy would’ve died, there was no other way.

According to the books, he was able to kill the minator so easily because of the adrenaline rush cause by the shock of his mothers death. He is able to see each move that is going to happen or needs to happen a few seconds before. Anticipation.

You guys gotta ease up on poor Grover 😂 Show Grover's personality is much closer to the book version - in the books he's goofy, awkward, and sweet even if he unintentionally causes harm in the process of trying to help someone. Movie Grover is basically a completely different character 😅 Yes he does lie to Percy in both the book and the show but he really is just trying to protect his friend the best way he knows how. The books go into a bit more detail about how satyrs often go out into the world to identify potential half-bloods and protect them from monsters, a job Grover does take seriously even if he screws up (which he feels guilty about if/when it happens). He has a good heart, he's just not always perfect at what he does. Also in case nobody else has mentioned it, the episode titles are taken directly from chapter titles in the book. The books are written from Percy's POV so he narrates everything with a sassy attitude. I'm glad you're picking up on the sass in the show because some book fans complained he isn't funny enough, but I have to disagree. The sass is subtle but Walker Scobell does a really good job with deadpan humor and clapping back without a second thought, which is very much in character for book Percy. He only gets worse from here on out so the gods better watch themselves 💀

The reason percy did so well in the minotaur fight is 1) he got lucky 2) it was raining and water gives him strength, and when the swordfight happened he obviously didnt really know a ton about swordfighting but because he is a demigod he has natural battlefighting reflexes. So thats why it seems weird that he’s good at somethings and not good at others. But he gets way better later on. And yes the movies are entertaining for non-book readers, but I promise you once you see the rest of the season (and hopefully series) you’ll see why we are upset about the way they are directed and written- because the movies give ZERO depth to the characters and they change things that are very vital to why people love the books :) I enjoy your reactions!!

I think you’re right that book fans are hard to satisfy because they have a specific image in their head of everything but for the Percy Jackson movies, I think they are right. Cause the movie while entertaining to non-book readers made it impossible to continue into the series it was meant to be. Second movie was not even entertaining for non-book readers lol

As an AVID fan of the books, which I grew up reading, I LOVE the series. It is personally waaaay more accurate to the books. I hate the movies, and even back then I hated them because I knew the books and it isn't that the movies are "not exactly accurate", they are horrendously different and egregiously just wrong, and not even in any way that improves the story. BUT I get it being interesting if you didn't read the books and I'm glad you guys found it fun, I wish I could've. Sorry, but all this rant is just to say I'm excited you're enjoying the series and it's so fun to watch it again alongside you guys~ although I can't condone the Grover slander cause he's the sweetest and one of the best characters, but hopefully he grows on you.

The movie changed way too many details of the books which is why there were so many complaints. One of the biggest ones was that Percy was supposed to be young (12) in the books but in the movie they had like a 17/18 yr old play him. Another was Annabeth was supposed to have blonde hair, which they changed for the 2nd movie to be book accurate. The biggest thing is that they changed the plot, especially in the 2nd movie. The 2nd movie basically had the plot of the 2nd to 5th books all in one movie... It was rushed and WAY too much was left out and unexplained. That's why book readers often say the movies are bad. I personally enjoyed them from the entertainment standpoint, but I do agree that they changed WAY too many things from the books and left a bunch out. Percy Jackson was the first book series I ever read and sprung me into a reading frenzy from 7th grade all the way through high school. It led me to read so many series, including: Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Harry Potter (I'd already seen the movies and fell in love with the world), The Hunger Games, Divergent, Legend series by Marie Lu... So many great books all because Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief blew my mind with what books can do... This series still holds a special place in my heart. I enjoyed the first season and think they did a pretty good job, even though they STILL, even working with the author of the books, changed some of the details, but the episodes help adjust you to it more, rather than being expected to be ok with changes in a hour and a half movie... I do think they could've made the first season longer. Idk why it's only eight episodes. Hopefully they keep up the good work if they make a season for each book! Would be awesome to see them adapt "Heroes of Olympus" series as well. That is the sequel series to Percy Jackson!

No, that'd be niche knowledge that most people wouldn't have gotten any of in regular American schools. You'd have to take special electives to learn about that stuff and a lot of schools didn't have those classes or if you just happened to be more interested in something else, you just chose to study something different. I think media should, for specific stuff like 'big three' info, stand on its own and tell that to the viewer rather than rely on watcher's outside knowledge about the hierarchy of the Greek pantheon. Bigger stuff like 'why would a war amongst the gods be bad' is pretty self explanatory, but for Poseidon's power level, the average US education wouldn't go over that

the best book to movie adaptation is Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter is very good but could be better, especially the 4th movie. But as far as Percy Jackson, this show is far more faithful to the plot of the books than the movie was. This show is great, you're gonna have a good time.

Just to note what Adison said in both this EP and the previous one, that Greek Gods are fake Gods and Jesus is the real one - this might already be obvious, but PJO is a world where the Greek myth is real and it was Zeus who created people out of clay, so basically Jesus is a myth in this PJO world not the other way around

about the book vs. movies thing, the reason why book readers hate the movies isn't because the movie didn't like "fit everything in" its bc the movies change SO MUCH from the books just to make some hollywood shiz. so since ya'll have only seen the movies i would try to not compare the series to the movies while watching, because the series follows the books almost 100%. like the series doesn't follow the movies at all later on

the movies weren’t just a mediocre adaptation, they completely butchered the entire story. Like they reduced the main villain from a powerful evil genius to a monster that wants to eat the world. The entire story, the integrity of the characters, it was all ruined. They’re still fun movies, but they’re absolutely trash adaptations. This show does change some things from the books, but the core story and characters remain true to the book so we don’t mind the changes nearly as much. This show is a great example of an awesome adaptation.

It is not that the movies are not exactly accurate to the books, but they completely change things and the changes they made are not great. It's like the Death Note movie : entertaining if you don't know the manga or the anime, but when you do, you are unsatisfied cause the original is so much better. Like, the movies have the trio looking for three pearls to get out of hell, but not a single time they think "when Sally Jackson will be with us, we will be four, not three, so we need four pearls". Is the way they get the pearls a deus ex machina (litterally) in the books? Kinda. But at least it doesn't make them look so stupid. Demigos also not look as justified in the movie : one of the strength of the book is that you don't root for those who want to take down Olympus, but you see where they are coming from and sympathize with them. And finally, the books are so funny. See the titles' episodes? All the books are like this. The movies took it way too seriously. Movie 2 get it and had more fun, which is why I prefer it, but the story is a mess and mixed multiple books together, which would have made it hard to continue.
