Percy knowing his mother is alive would keep him from focusing on the quest. that’s why they didn’t tell him.

It would potentially make him compromise the entire quest just to save his mother.

Nathan, the thing is, Zeus isn’t dumb for thinking Percy stole the bolt. The gods literally cannot steal from each other, but their mortal demigod children are able to do that on their behalf. So, all of a sudden, Zeus sees Poseidon claim a forbidden child while he’s having a dispute with him over the theft of the bolt? It’s easy for Zeus to come to that conclusion

plus its not like they KNEW Percy just showed up to the camp, others show up at different ages. What would stop Poseidon from sending a message or order to his child to steal the bolt and then suddenly claim him when he's at the camp? Even if claiming him was strategy to show Hey He's Been Here The Whole Time, that doesn't stop them from asking Why did he suddenly claim his Only Kid right now in the middle of the dispute? And again if they can order someone else to do it and he only has the One Kid he claimed: they'd obviously think Percy did it.

Athena is the goddess of wisdom, battle strategy, warfare, etc. Which is one of the reasons Annabeth is so good at ctf and fighting in general

Dionysus - god of wine, madness, theatre, etc and in mythology closely associated with satyrs Clarisse's spear is actually a magical gift from her dad Ares so that's why she was so mad I'm so happy y'all are reacting to this!

I think they didn't tell Percy about his mother because, with a potential war between the literal sea and sky only one week away, there can be zero distractions or delays. We all know Percy would forget about the time limit if it meant he could save his mother.

Invisible helmet was an actual gift from Athena to Perseus in Greek mythology, Rick probably took inspiration from that

The archery scene isn’t Artemis, in fact she doesn’t have children and of course in the scene they were looking for his father so they were trying out the male gods.

Hermes actually is the god of sword fighting, among many, many, many other things. The only other god that even comes close to having as many domains as he does is maybe Apollo, and even then it's not even close.

He's the god of theives cause he stole from his brother Apollo and to make it up for him he made his lyre (guitar, harp string lute type thingy) out of a turtle shell , he also shares thanatos's job to take souls to the underworld and greet them at the gate , not even mentioning his son the god of healing . He can fly and is objectively the fastest compared to God's with crazy things like Apollo sun chariot , and posidens water cow horses He's the god of like 50 cool things , and watching over traveller's and theives and the dead and healing reminds me of Jesus, and if the boys made that comparison they would like hermes, every god being a violent asshole is the problem lol

just to clarify: artemis doesnt have children, because she has always vowed to be a maiden goddess. she does have a pack of female hunters though, like a sisterhood! they stay in cabin 8 (artemis cabin) when theyre in town. so the kids you see with amazing archery skills are apollo's children. Dionysus is the god of wine, drunkeness, revelry, insanity, orchards/fruitbearing plants, ritual madness, religious ecstasy and theatre so hes interesting to say the least (zeus wanted him to chill after pursuing a nymph that HE had his eyes on, so as a part of a punishment he sent him to chb, in addition to the alcohol ban). Hermes is a god of MANY things, like thieves, travelers, diplomacy, language, speed, athletes, cunning/wit etc but that includes swordplay too somehow. he's described as a jack of all trades, definitley look into him if ur interested. also, just a fun fact, aphrodite is not exactly a fighting goddess as you said, but in mythologies shes definitely still a warrior! her son Aeneas was a great hero that defended Troy against invading greeks and was a fierce warrior.

Just to fill you in on the twelve Olympian gods, as I don't know if you're big fans of the Greek Myths. There's Zeus (king of the gods, god of lightning, thunder, and the skies), Hera (queen of the gods, goddess of marriage, women, and family), Poseidon (king of the seas, god of the seas, storms, eathquakes, horses), Hades (king of the underworld, god of the dead and riches), Demeter (goddess of the harvest and agriculture). Along with Hestia (who is the goddess of the hearth and the home but not an Olympian goddess), they are the six children of the titans Kronos and Rhea. Then there's the other Olympian gods, almost all of them children of Zeus: Apollo (god of the sun, light, prophecy, archery, music, poetry, arts, disease, truth, knowledge, and healing), Artemis (goddess of the moon, the hunt, wilderness, and childbirth), Hermes (messenger of the gods, god of heralds, travelers, thieves, athletes, roads, cunning, speed, and sheperds), Athena (goddess of wisdom, crafts, and battle strategy), Ares (god of war and courage), Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty), Hephaestus (god of fire and blacksmiths), Dionysus (god of wine, madness, ecstasy, theatre, and festivity). In the myths, the gods fell in love with mortals and had demigod children with them all the time. Zeus and Poseidon especially had so, so many kids. So that habits still persists in the modern day, and each god (except Artemis and Hera, they don't have any due to their domains and Artemis being a virgin goddess) has at least a handful of half-god kids running around at Camp Half-Blood and maybe a few others still in the mortal world that are unaware of their divine ritage.

⁠@@ariealdarby4729 In the books it’s explained that Gods don’t really have DNA the way humans do, so as long as they aren’t from the same cabin they aren’t technically related. This was obviously written in to avoid relationships between demigods from being weird/incest. But like Athena kids specifically are born from her thoughts, not pregnancy and Apollo somehow has a kid with another man so like they definitely don’t follow the same rules as humans

One of Percy’s thoughts from the book is “I had become one with the plumbing” (pg. 93) and I really wish they turned it into a line in the bathroom scene lol

also wanted to say i'm really glad you guys make occasional but not continuous comparisons to the movie! so many reactors are commenting on every single scene like "Omg the movie did this/Oh the movie did that" and it's driving me mad. This series is obviously something totally different and as the episodes go on, they'll diverge more and more from movie plot while keeping to the book plot. If you didn't know already, the book author wasn't allowed any input on the movies, but for this series he's been working on the casting, writing, everything from the start 😊

I started laughing out loud when you talked about how bc Percy was Poseidon's kid he'd wreck others and you're not exactly wrong, there is a sort of hierarchy even if the other kids are from Hermes or Hephaestus, in theory any kid from the big three is more powerful which is why they agreed not to father more kids

I assume it's cause only one or two of them do the editing, so three videos a week isn't bad considering the editing but it does mean people are just gonna wait till all the reactions are out

The archers are children of Apollo not Artemis as Artemis swore an oath to never marry and never have children. She has a cabin at camp but it is purely honorary.

Heracles doesn't really have a domain. He was a half-blood raised to divinity by Zeus. He just kind of exists. Heroic struggle, maybe?
