I find calculus easier than doing percentages in your head. No lie
Just multiply by moving two decimals is way easier and faster. 15% of 80 = 0.15 x 80 or (15 x 80) / 100 to make it even easier.
I've struggled with percentages and always have when I get worried about a test or anything I always come to this Channel and it always helps so much!!!
I'm studying for my asvab, I been 7 years out of the school system so I'm pretty rusty but after watching this video I completely understand percentages and its all because he took the time to REALLY explain. to all struggling with math this channel is the absolute best! best of luck to everyone.im slaying that test.
I have a cool technique for percentages of large numbers. I divide numbers into their tens, hundreds, thousands etc. constituents, apply the percentage to each one, them sum the results. So to do 20% of 1485 (composed of 1000, 400, 80 and 5), I do: (20% of 1000) + (20% of 400) + (20% of 80) + (20% of 5) = 200 + 80 + 16 + 1 = 297
@mrcool9918

@doonmore1
8 жыл бұрын
+bennemann 20% is the same as 1/5 so just divide 1485 by 5 ( =297) ... or divide by 10 and double your answer. e.g. 1485 /5 = 297 or 1485/10 = 148.5 the x 2 = 297

Basicly in easier ways lets say 55% of 360 so what you would do is divide 360÷100=3.6 so you take 3.6 and multiply it by 55% and you get 198 as seen in video hope this helped :)
I really thank you my daughter came in with homework and goes mommy I don’t understand it. When I looked at it I said hold on.... me goes to KZread lol it’s been so many years since I was in school and math wasn’t my strongest subject, but this really breaks it down I can’t forget after this.
I was getting tired of looking stupid trying to work out the percentage of my restaurant bill to give a tip. I always pulled out my trusty calculator. This is awesome. If I knew about this at school I would have excelled at Maths.
Easiest way to find a percentage is to take the number for example 42 divide by 100 and then multiply by the percentage you're trying to find for 50%
or you can turn the percentage into a decimal and multiply 55% of 360 .55 x 360 = 198

25% of 860 - would you not just half it, and then half it again (if we are trying to keep it simple)?
@ExplodingConsole
8 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Smith That's what I did, to try to keep it simple and follow a simular path to the 5% method of taking 10% and halfing it.
@bennemann
8 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Smith I usually divide the number in its constituents of tens, hundreds and thousands. So 860 becomes 800 + 60. I do a quarter (25%) of each, which gives 200 and 15 respectively, then just sum them back together to give 215. Another example would be 20% of 1485. It becomes (20% of 1000) + (20% of 400) + (20% of 80) + (20% of 5) = 200 + 80 + 16 + 1 = 297 Got it?

When the percentage is a two digit number its always gonna start with a decimal 45% of 80 .45×80=36 --------------------- When the percentage is only one digit start with your decimal but add a zero followed by your percentage 4% of 80 .04×80=3.2 This method gets rid of the subtracting Hopefully this helps and is understandable.

Thank you so much 😊. This used to confuse me so much cause my math teacher won’t explain it to me. I hope I pass my checkpoint mocks!!!!! Thank you 🙏🏾 😊 ☺️ again
Wow you are awesome thank you l've never looked at it like this, the way you teach help people make SENSE easier be and saves time . thank you very much sir🙏
When doing 25% I find it easier to divide the number twice instead of your method at 8:50 e.a. 860/2=430 430/2=215 ; Otherwise great tips, I appreciate the help.

I have read several (young ladies) critical comments of this Mans voice. He sounds to me like an Australian , and actually has a very soothing voice like my Dentist. He would make a wonderful story teller. I do wonder if people from other countries realise that we Australians find their accent hard to understand at times.Interesting these people have all been helped for free in these videos. I am so grateful as a Homeschool Mother for these very valuable lessons.
Really helped. Make more of these videos as they help me and many others :D
On the 55% of 360, why is it not 50% (180) plus 5% (9) to make 55% which equals 189. I know it's wrong but I don't understand why. Thanks.

***** Thanks for the question!55% of 360, it is 50% (180) plus 5% (18 - this is half of 10% which is 36!)) to make 55% which equals 198.

Imari Is Weird Hi Imari! Basically you find 10 percent of 360 (just take the zero off) which is 36. Multiply 36 by 5 to get 50 percent, which is 180. But you need 55 percent, so get 36 (which is ten percent) and divide by 2 to get 18 (which is 5 percent) and add it onto 180, which is 198. Hope that helped :)

Man you are a life saver I have to go to school tomorrow and I did not know how to do percentages and we were going to do them 😰😰😰😰👌👌👌👌👌
Pretty nifty, I enjoyed learning this thanks 💗
When I taught myself this years ago I didn't think it was really a thing. I feel validated by this. :)
