This is showing another aspect of being a knitter: what to do when, what had been a thrilling project, a treasured 'work in progress', end up remaining on the hanger, and we don't wear them ?? 🌧🌧🌧 You brilliantly recovered the situation by finding a better project for the yarn. It certainly takes courage to put the idea into practice, though. For me, ripping down the Springfling Tee would be such a heartbreak !!!!! But if you make something better, out of it, then the yarn is not wasted. The life of a knitter can be tough !!
Thank you for sharing. Excellent advice. 🐿
I admire your approach to addressing projects that haven't quite worked.
I think you can DEFINITELY knit the zipper man using the pattern you already have, it's not necessary to buy the light version. I knitted 2 zipper sweaters, one for a man and another for myself in different yarn weights and they turned out great using the original zipper sweater pattern. I just had to adapt a few things but nothing too crazy or difficult to do

That’s so good to know! Thank you for sharing ☺️
For the Safran cotton, I wonder if you could just sew the bottom and make a lining instead of frogging it. Or steek it to be a pillow case :) I find the fit of petit knitter sweaters tend to be a bit weird and not flattering although I found her color/motif very beautiful.

That is such a brilliant idea! I was over eager and already frogged it but I wish I had done that instead 😅 And a good perspective on the fit of the petite knitters designs, I’ll keep that in mind :)
Love your no frills sweater, the color is beautiful! i still havent tried KFO merino + their mohair and I just hope I can tolerate it on my skin. I know that the softest mohair is Lang Mohair 21, and I want to try that one a lot.

I wish I had tried it in a smaller project first, it’s relatively pricey but I do love the colour ☺️
In this session, we get the true measure of your maturity, as a knitter. 🐻🐻🐻 Knitting is not smooth sailing every day. It certainly hurts to unravel the work. But your reflections on what went on, garment by garment, is really very educative for us. 🐻🐻🐻 Thank you wholeheartedly for producing this show.
You drive it home, Emily ! ! There is no point keeping knits that don't serve their purpose, for years on end. Well done.

Very true! It’s a shame for perfectly good yarn to not get the use it deserves
I agree with what Maureen O'Flanagan is writing. The life of a knitter can be tough. 💂♂💂♂ Excellent advice. 💂♂💂♂
You have motivated me to decide to fix or frog some of my projects. 🧶

So good to hear! It’s almost like getting free yarn 😉
The theme of this episode changes the mood, compared to the usual ones. But it is necessary. Thank you for doing it. 🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋 The case of the Springfling Sweater : what a new life you are giving to that yarn ! ! Complete change of style, from Springfling to the Oh ! My Figure Dress ! The transformation is .... Wow ! 🔋🔋🔋🔋
I understand the way in which the Springfling and the Tolsta Tee disappointed you: they are not practical, in your wardrobe, for you to wear ( because of climate, etc ). 💔 But it is probably breaking your heart, thinking of the time, effort, and dream that were put into them, many months ago. I wish the second starts with the yarn, will turn into something you love.🍂🍂
You had to make hard decisions about those garments. Tough Tough. Your high standards are showing here again. Obviously, the climate you live in needs to be factored in. I admire your practical and imaginative approach to the problems. 💬💬💬💬
An original and very down to earth episode. It is a wake up call for me. 🐞🐞 I will go over garments that lay dormant in the back of my wardrobe. It is a great idea to make a podcast about this. 🐞🐞🐞🐞
In this episode, it is the hour of judgement, for those garments ! ! It shows you really thought about their problems, long and deep. I learned a lot. Thank you.
I admire your candor and honesty about the garments that didn't turn out the way you wanted. It takes courage to unravel. . At least you avoid the accumulation of a clutter of things you don't use, and you give the yarn a second chance. ⛪⛪

All yarn deserves to be knit into something we love 🥹
You are a very strong woman ! ! You are very resourceful, about facing the reality, when a piece of clothing has not fulfilled its mission in your wardrobe. That means making a decision about fixing or unraveling to save the yarn. 🥊🥊 You are strong, because if we obey the law of the least effort, it is status quo. Then we accumulate a graveyard of projects that have not worked, by they remain useless. Bravo for the courage and practical sense !! ⚾⚾
An important theme, in the life of a knitter. Thank you for this.
This episode generates a lot of reflection. It was important that you do it. Thanks.
You are very brave, addressing those issues upfront, like you are doing. You have a very practical approach. 💓💓🧠💓🧠💓🧠
Good discussion. Sometimes, there comes a time we need to be realistic. Well done.
This episode made me realize I need to put more thought into the projects I am planing. I learned some good lessons.
Thank you for doing this, Emily. This is an important session.
This is waking me up, regarding the knitted garments that I don't wear. Time to make decisions. Glad I watched your podcast !
I think the same as Madeleine Lislois : You have good analysis of what is going on, regarding your garments. Very good to watch and learn from your session. Thank you !
This was a great program to watch !! 🍓🍓 I have not been a knitter for long, yet, and your insight, regarding clothes that you made but are not wearing, is important for me to keep in mind. When we elaborate a project, we need to think ahead in the future: 'Will I still like this in a year ?' Thank you.🍓🍓🍓
The way you go through the issues of your finishes projects is good advice for me, about avoiding some issues. Thank you . Excellent presentation.
Very interesting. That gave me a lot to think about.
It breaks my heart to hear that the Springfling Tee was not a good match. . But I understand what you say, that is was heavy and did not quite fulfill its mission, in your wardrobe. . You had made it very well, though.

One day I’ll knit another one in a more suitable yarn, it’s a gorgeous design
This is very helpful. I should make an inventory of my " inactive " knits ! ! !
I was very pensive, when I watched this session. I have knitted garments I don't use. 🦕🦕🦕 You're giving me the friendly kick to do something. 🦕🦕🦕🦕 You opened my eyes ! !
Loved to see the pieces you didn't feel have worked so well. I really like how honest you are about your mistakes and learning curves. It inspires me to keep gong with my knitting journey. Wishing you well ! !
Your input is of great help, regarding what to do with my graveyard of knitted clothes I don't wear. Thinking about it. Thank you.
I have recently frogged a few items as well very satisfying. You blue colour work one by creabea would look great as an alpine bloom jumper

That’s a great suggestion, thank you for sharing!
Can’t you tighten up the button holes by stitching a little at each end?

That’s such a clever suggestion! Thank you for sharing, I will keep it in mind
Great podcast. Striped Tolsta…could the neck ribbing be cut off ,then reknitted?

That’s a great idea! Much better than frogging the whole thing, thanks for sharing ☺️
i think you should cut/frog the colorwork on the Kerr sweater and get some of the same yarn in a different color. Could you gift the no frills and tanktop? trade maybe? they are gorgeous pieces and it hurts my heart for all that work to disappear. The stipey tolsta you could rip back the collar and just add some more shortrows to the back, right? and opt for a different finish if you wanted:) I made my first sweater with mohair earlier this year and i dont think ill work with it for a long time.. its itchy and icky:( maybe we should both destash the yarn that doesnt work for us and get to really enjoy our future projects?

So many fantastic ideas, thank you for sharing them! Especially the Tolsta idea, that is a much more sensible option than ripping out everything 😅
Interesting one. I listened attentively. 🛳🛳 Transforming the Springfling Tee into Oh! My Figure Dress is the work of a wizard ! ! Oh Boy ! 🛳🛳 Very wise and practical discussions here. Thank you.
Thank you for this compilation. I appreciate your honest approach to sharing your experiences, even the negative ones. 🥎 This shows that knitting something is one thing. To enjoy wearing it is another thing. Real life lesson. 🥎
