Simply criminal that Cherry Ghost didn’t become massive - just shows you the luck in life - good and bad, right place right time, ‘Mathematics' is a gem as well, as you know Simon is an amazing singer songwriter - beautiful.

Best thing to come out of Bolton, since Chorley New Road..the guys a genius.

I've heard hundreds of beautiful songs already, but such a perfect combination of melody line and voice like here is an extremely rare thing among those songs. This is something fantastic!

Every now and then along comes a song that pierces you to the soul. This is one of those songs and this acoustic performance is even more amazing than the studio recording.

This is honestly amazing. Love hearing emotion in a vocalists voice. You can see in his eyes he's singing about something he truly has deep feelings about. Love every second of it.

This song was meant to be played acoustically. Brilliant and moving !

I first became aware of this track by Birdy's stunning cover of it, but this version cuts me to the core. It's so rare a performance has such visceral emotion but this does. Absolutely beautiful.

Simon and Cherry Ghost are amazing. Simon is one of the great song writers of the our time. I wish they would do a US tour. If you are just discovering Cherry Ghost please buy thier albums and by all means go see them as they make more money off shows. They need our support or eventually we'll be suck with digitized music with no soul. Go forth by brothers and sisters!! God Bless!-Seamus

I first heard the Gregorian version of this song in their "Chapter 9" album released in 2013. Then I looked up the title in KZread and listened to Birdy's cover also released in the same year. After listening to those two covers, I discovered Cherry Ghost - the original artist of this song. I agree with you. Birdy has very interesting taste to music. There's no point of criticizing the artists who covered this song. I am discovering the original bands from Birdy's 2011 cover album too.

I came here from the Birdy version also. She is a better singer than Cherry and her version is beautiful. Cherry's version feels so heartfelt and true and is also beautiful.

His is actually the original version.

Cherry ghost is now the name of the band. used to be alias for simon aldred before he formed a band. but yeah simon aldred/cherry ghost wrote it. google is your friend.

Simon Aldred wrote it, Birdy only covered it. It was first on the Cherry Ghost album 'Thirst for Romance' in 2007. Birdy was only 11 years old when it came out. In fact, I believe she only wrote one of the songs on her album.
