to me this song represents the UK. My mother was from the UK, i was born in London, yet I have lived most of my life in Italy. My grandmother lived in a council flat in Isleworth, and the connection between neighbours, milkman, ice-cream van and butcher is what always made feel the UK was a better place to live...this song reminds me of that feeling of unity and reciprocal help that got the UK through the war and what followed, too bad it has all faded into nothing ....

Poignant song .... more relevant than ever. People, today more than ever, in a world made up of wars wanted by the powerful, real people, pure of heart, who do not sell themselves to the strong powers, must help themselves. We do not have "a brain and we are not fools" .... but we have a heart and our hands are outstretched towards others, ready to hold others never. The world needs peace and hands to shake ....... not wars.

People help the people And if you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it People help the people Nothing will drag you down Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain I'd be cold as a stone and rich as a fool That turned all those good hearts away Az emberek segítenek az embereken És ha honvágyad van Add a kezed, én majd megfogom Az emberek segítenek az embereken És semmi nem fog letörni Ó ha egy kicsivel is több eszem lenne Ó ha egy kicsivel és több eszem lenne Hideg lennék, mint egy kő, és nagyon gazdag Ami minden jó embert elfordítana
