Very relatable. It seems that people get uncomfortable when confronted with someone who has set a goal to get fitter and healthier and really pursues this goal. Even when i eat healthy at work i get lots of comments. Everyone has an opinion about my lunch 😂 Love your content. Keep it up! 👍🏻💪🏻.

Every day I would literally try to wait until no one was in the lunchroom, to open my can of albacore and cut up an apple and take it back to my office. Or if unavoidable, I would be as quick and discreet as possible, but inevitably the chubby people eating their McDonalds and giant cokes would chime in "OMG Why are you eating THAT???!!! You don't need to lose weight!!..." (and continue on about it) Um, yes, exactly.🙄
This is me...shadowboxing in the park, doing wind sprints, throwing sandbags around while randoms watch me like I'm some gladiator in an arena...and that's the thing. When you aren't ordinary, everything you do makes you the man in the Arena.

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes, the ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. - Steve Jobs
I'm 34 and you're my favourite Crossfit athlete. For me it's an inspiration that you managed to turn your life around at 40 and become the athlete that you are. And I just want to add one thing to this video, I don't really care what strangers think of me, what hits me is when people close to you try to talk you down of that life style. The social pressure to not be as fit, train every day, eat dirty and drink alcohol is big and very distracting. Anyways, keep going, Love your videos, Love from Portugal

The cracks in my driveway from constantly dropping the bar are the only downside of my garage training! I've had people stop their walk to watch a heavy jerk go up (which is a little nerve racking)! Honestly, being a 50-year-old master's athlete is nice. I'm weird and I own it. Oh, and not drinking is another big one - as if the fitness doesn't make us weird enough!

My wife I travelled from Oz to Florida and then visited friends in Wisconsin and we trained every morning. My friend’s neighbour were watching me everyday as they passed when I was outside in the sun doing shuttle runs, farmers walks and on one occasion my mate and I were pushing his ride on mower up and around his driveway 😂

Way to make it happen!
Thanks so much for this video, Jason. This year I have been slowly learning compound lifts and getting programming help from an experienced trainer. The gym is not my natural environment (lifetime cardio junkie) and I have quite pronounced social anxiety, so the way that I’ve figured out to “get it done” consistently and be as weird as I want to be is by joining a locally owned gym that has 24-hour access. I’ve figured out that nobody is there at 2am, so that’s where you’ll find me - headphones on - cranking out workouts in the middle of the night. It’s peaceful and I don’t have to deal with the covertly competitive or show-off environment that often exists anywhere that weights are involved in a gym. Even at that, it is a little lonely sometimes. Of course I’m nowhere near your level and I’m not even a Crossfitter, but It’s nice to come here and see you working out and sharing your perspective. Without knowing you or any of the folks commenting at all I feel some camaraderie. That’ll carry me into this weekend’s workouts!

The coolest think in this video is not what you say (for me is right), but the fact that you say that walking in the shared place... I think this is the point: To be yourself in the sunlight, ready to share and discuss.
My wife and I work out in our garage gym, and had one of my neighbors complain that our barbell weights were moving their picture frames. We just ignored her and continued with our WOD. Also, we take our dumbbells to our RV campsite when we go on vacation to live our lifestyle. We are the 1% committed to our health and wellness. We got your back!

@@JasonGrubb, it depends on the workouts we have at the moment. It could be 95# - 135#. I normally choose dumbbells when I work out in the morning. Our barbell workouts are during the afternoon. As a cyclist both outdoor and indoor I can relate to this. On "vacation" in hot summer places, I always go out riding in the morning. Sure some people would think I'm a fanatic or crazy, but if they are my age they usually look at least 10 years older than me with their beer bellies and unhealthy looks. Cycling indoors on a veranda next to the road where neighbours walk by, is also good. Surely they think I'm a lunatic, but hopefully some get a little inspiration and do some workout of their own, when they see how I push myself and enjoy it.

Got it. The Rogue 2.0 barbell is standard in most CrossFit gyms and is a great barbell. I personally have the Ohio bar and really enjoy it!
Im proud to be weird. I train most days at the side of my house, throwing a barbell, kettlebells or dumbells about, box jumps, double unders, burpees dripping with sweat and covered in chalk, when i run around the block i get weird looks from neighbours and passers by, and thats fine, I dont care. I train because I need to, I train daily because if I dont, I could quite easily slip back into that average lifestyle that nearly cost me everything and I cant afford that. I train to strengthen my body, my mind and my soul, I train so that my kids have a healthy strong father and role model who has the energy to play and support them when the going gets tough, i train to protect my body and my family. Im weird.....and proud. And nothing will change that.

Jason - just to be clear - We ARE the weirdos. We don't think we should be and we wish everyone would see the health benefits of our obsession, but by any measure of normality - we are a bunch of nut-jobs that "normal" people have every right to shake their heads at, laugh at, etc. Once we realize we are the "problem" then we can laugh with them while we go about being that crazy guy or gal working out instead of "enjoying" life. Good stuff!

At our age we are easily in the top 0.01% which means we’re on the total opposite side of the spectrum. I believe I read 40%+ Americans are obese. If you’re over 45 years old, have low body fat and literally have abs then you’re in top 0.01% for men. Easily If they don’t like what we do but continue watching then they’re our fans but don’t know it.

Try being a 61 year old female (living in a 55+ golf community)...at the community "gym" (my box is closed on Sundays/nights/holidays😠), all the women come up to me and gush that I'm "SOOO AMAZING" (I'm not) and want to chat and hire me to train them (um, I got a day job!)...and the men all need to volunteer "You must be a Marine" (no, just a lifelong cubicle dweller) and tell me how they could do what I'm doing if it wasn't for their broken (rusted) knee/shoulder/whatever...or the foreigner men look at me like I should be back at home doing someone's laundry. Seriously. And the (very few) non-broken men, are quite annoyed that I'm taking up THEIR gym space, and not just parked on a cardio machine from the 90's, like a little old lady should be. And I could go on!
Yup, don't care anymore

It is a bit strange because of all the equipment you must lug around. You could stay just as fit doing some bodyweight exercises like push ups, squats, chin ups on a tree. But it wouldn't be Crossfit-specific of course.

You can definitely stay fit with bodyweight exercises, but I'd argue not quite as fit without external weights/machines.
We need more counter-culture. Mainstream culture led to the fall of the west (as we are witnessing everyday in the news, economy, etc.). Good times make weak men. We need to prepare for hard times, being strong men.
