Jason Momoa seems like a genuine and honest guy. He doesn’t act like he knows more than he actually does, and he doesn’t say a bunch of bullshit about what he did to train and prepare and how “training got him into the mind of his character.” He just said, “the trainer told me to do this so I did it.” Also, he may not be an avid weightlifter but he’s grew up skateboarding, surfing and rock climbing so he’s been active his entire life so he may not get into the gym, but dude has been an athlete his entire life. Dr. Mike, this was a great video, thank you for the great content.

(a med made my weight jump up so it's effectively like starting a climb with an extra 40lb on not super strong upper body. get reckt.) bouldering specifically. anyway i like that you could take hard work in those two areas and have a place to apply it, and that you have challenges you work to defeating. it's like a practical use for the training and to me that is motivating. :)

😁great critique, Doc🤙🏾 Jason is actually a very cool and funny dude. I did extra work on set here in Hawai’i on a show called “Northshore” just before he blow up into a full fledge movie star. What is so cool…and, kind of not surprising coming from from Hawai’i…is he hasn’t changed his personality much.(*same for guys like Bruno Mars and Dwayne Johnson). Seen him recently a few him times on his break back home here and you wouldn’t even think he was living a Hollywood life….he was at the beach surfing hanging with friends and fam. Great guy. 🤙🏾🤙🏾 Take care, brother and stay safe. Much Aloha🤙🏾🤙🏾🎼

This might be, like, a hot/cringe take to some, but I mean it as a compliment & something that makes me happy to see; Dr. Mike is a truly wonderful example of NON-toxic masculinity. It’s sooooo nice to see an ultra masculine dude who is also grounded, secure, confident and funny. I feel like the world needs more role models like Dr. Mike. It’s nice seeing men who really embrace masculinity without like, weaponizing it (for lack of a better word). It’s excellent proof that masculinity itself is not the problem. (To be extra clear, I don’t need proof that masculinity itself isn’t the problem, cause I already know it’s not, hence my appreciation for people like Dr. Mike, DarkMatter2525, etc. I think it’s excellent proof for the misguided folks who seem to think masculinity/men in general are the problem).

Masculinity minus the so called toxic traits (suppression of vulnerability, stoicism, etc.) loses meaning. Women can be as involved in stereotypically masculine activities so that doesn't help with a definition of positive masculinity either. Gender roles developed at a point when men had to be aggressive (and disposable, hence the liability emotion represented) and women had to be restricted to the domestic sphere for group survival's sake. We're not in those kind of societies any more, but our notions of gender were tied to that. I don't see anything particularly masculine about Dr. Mike aside from appearance. He's just a funny guy tbh, who isn't homophobic.

Here's the facts: when you're on the amount of PEDs they put these actors on to play a superhero, you can do practically ANY training routine and still make gains. The idea that you have to micromanage and min/max your training and diet only applies to the average natty guy who needs every advantage he can get. When you're on Hollywood cycle (test, HGH, etc) the rules are out the window, you can eat a lot and still get leaner, or cut weight and still gain muscle/strength, recover fast enough to train multiple times a day, etc. That's why these celebs look goofy sometimes working out, because they know they can just do whatever and still make crazy gains with the drugs they're on.

Today was my first day of doing pull-ups the way he described. Previously I would hold a 30lb dumbbell between my legs and not go all the way down for that full stretch. I ditched the weight and did 4 sets of 10 with controlled movement and could not finish the 5th set. Went down and briefly hung and felt the stretch. I am sitting here hours later feeling the effects. So far, this is amazing. I never felt like this before. Now, I just need to eliminate the ego part.

yea, kettlebell swings are an awesome complementary workout for your "go" muscles. glutes, hamstrings, hip adductors, quads, lats, deltoids, core and even a little triceps, biceps, and forearm muscles. combined with high volume (4-5 sets of 25 reps or something like that) it's a great endurance exercise as well.
