“People Are SCAMMING The Benefits System” | Incapacity Benefits Claims Soar

In every part of Britain, there was an increase in claims for incapacity benefits last year. Some of the biggest rises were seen in wealthy areas, where mental health issues surged.
Data from the Department for Work and Pensions revealed that while urban and industrial regions had the highest number of claims in 2023, suburban towns near London and other major cities also saw significant increases, with some areas experiencing a more than 30% rise.
These areas include constituencies represented by Conservative Members of Parliament such as Tonbridge & Malling in Kent, Basingstoke in Hampshire, and Hexham in Northumberland.
According to analysis conducted by the Labour Party and reported by the Times, claims for incapacity benefits increased by at least 10% in all 650 parliamentary seats.
Last month, it was reported that 2.8 million individuals had exited the workforce due to long-term sickness, marking the highest number since the 1990s. Mental health issues are prevalent among young adults aged 16 to 34 who are out of work due to long-term illness, accounting for 69% of all medical claims.
This trend coincides with the government's efforts to reduce NHS waiting lists for treatment.

Rural areas especially mine in the north east used to also have additional jobs such as mining, ship building, etc giving people work but once the EU came into being all those industries started to disappear. Now even our agricultural sector is under fire because of so-called climate change. If the powers that be want to change the climate they should stop all of the weather modification thru are constantly doing thanks to the US patents for weather modification. By altering the weather they are affecting nature forcing climate change. Stop building more cities, start encouraging rural areas. Stop these weather modifying chemtrails and allow nature to work naturally.

The housing situation does not help I know a former collegue a single man in his forties, who lived with his mother in a council house, the mother died, and he told the doctor he was depressed, but he told me he wasn't, that allowed him to claim benefits and ore importantly keep the house.

In my trade we seen a massive rise in mental health issues. Apart from being tradespeople…… we now have to undertake around 10 to 20 course which have nothing to do with us actually doing g our job. My last one was 17 courses. That’s an extra 17 responsibilities we’ve got to take on board while we’re doing our original job. We’re aware these things are important but feels like our trade work comes second…… and so does the level of work The last ten years have changed employment conditions and people are really feeling that they are just living to work. Where’s living a life gone?

I feel the issue is that there is really not much different in what people can claim and what they can earn. Going to be work should be attractive and rewarded. Where you generally can't physically work that is what should be covered in full. Then it should be scaled with either community work or part-time work.

I live in a row of four houses, all couples all on benefits. Directly across the road, the same type of houses in a row of four are all on benefits. I am the only one working out of those eight. It makes my blood boil most days when returning from a hard day's work. Nothing whatsoever wrong with them. I suppose I am the mug for working nearing forty years sometimes struggling to pay my bills.

then you are a fool. a tool of the politicians. the entire country is corrupt, broken. every politician, party, civil servant, authority, institution, charity, illegal immigrant, etc etc, scams society for everything they can get, and they get away with it. if you want to continue to play by the rules in a totally corrupt system, then thats your problem, but dont go blaming the people at the bottom of society for following the example set by our "leaders" and taking whatever they can get. good for them.

All those from other countries should not be entitled to much help they should work pay in for 5 years if not send them back.

I’m disabled at the moment waiting for a full hip replacement I work but my hours have been cut because unfortunately I’m not able to do the hours physically I’m now getting some support but look forward to be back to full employment once I’ve had a operation and recovered yes there are some scamming the system and there are those that want to work but cannot due to the fact that if they do they will still need to claim in work benefits due to some employers paying to little and also paying little or no taxes into this country and we even give subsidies while only providing insecure jobs with poor conditions in my eyes there are scammers from the top to the bottom
