As someone who hasn’t been able to work or have a family because of their poor health for the past 17 years, you are spot on. Hate to say it but I will always be more covetous of people’s partners, children, and careers not to mention their experiences out in the world and the energy it takes to do those things they have than I ever will be of their clothes, cars, purses, or what have you. If you don’t have your health, you really and truly have nothing. You have the sliver of hope it will get better and if that happens you’ll be able to cobble together a life, meet a man with younger children, start a business somehow. But that’s not what the past has told you is realistic.

Especially since many truly rich people go out of their way to look average. Just look at Zuckerbergs grey Tshirt - it’s actually a five figure designer shirt tailored just for him. Most true luxury brands/items do not have the label plastered all over them. You won’t have even heard of many of them. They are only recognizable by other wealthy elites who are in the know.

I've found that most people are the opposites of who they portray themselves to be, it's been that way since before social media but social media appears to have made it worse today because of the widespread exposure. I find the people who look well off are often worried about making it to payday because they've lived their lives trying to impress their peers, their colleagues, their neighbors, and strangers online. They're "minimum paymented" to the edge of their paychecks. People like me on the other hand are happy with what we have and don't feel the need to impress others. I just want to look average in all honesty, I don't want any extra attention. My income over the years went into the six-figures by the time I was 30, but my standard of living never really went above what it was when I was making $70k a year. Because I didn't raise my standard of living with every promotion or raise over the last 20 years I was able to buy a modest home and pay it off in 13 years instead of 30, I also had the 20% down in cash which led me to easily be able to buy my home in the aftermath of the 2008 crash. I was able to buy nice used automobiles over the years, save a lot of money for retirement, and build up a very nice savings account in case I need to put a new roof on my home, replace the HVAC, or even replace a car if I for some reason needed to, all without going into debt. And today, even being 100% debt free I'm still driving old vehicles that I've maintained and are still in very good condition. My newest vehicle is a 10 year old Cadillac, I also have a very nice Escalade, it's a 2007 with only 84k miles on it. There's plenty of life left in it and my 10 year old daily driver Cadillac, no reason to replace them. I could easily afford a shiny new $1k car payment but I don't want one. And with $5k of disposable income a month after paying the bills (taxes, insurance, utilities, food, retirement savings, etc), I still do my clothes shopping at Ross and buy my Wrangler jeans for everyday casual wear at Walmart for $20. What I don't spend each month just goes into savings and will be invested at some point into something without penalty of tapping before retirement age if economic conditions turn bad. I feel rich today, not because of what I have. It's the knowledge that when I see a brand new Escalade or Corvette, knowing I could have one if I want it. It's not worrying about bills when I lay my head down at night, or counting the days until payday. It's knowing I could lose my job tomorrow at 53, and knowing I won't lose my home or everything I worked for over a lifetime, and although my retirement potentially wouldn't be quite as nice if I stopped working tomorrow, it will still be comfortable and worry free. The lack of financial stress is the ultimate freedom that makes me feel rich. One thing I tell my young work colleagues or friend's young adult children when they solicit how to do what I did is I tell them to keep their standard of living reasonable and constant and that living a less pampered (not less comfortable) lifestyle today in your 20s will give you a much richer feeling and even more comfortable life when you're my age. A used Chevy or Honda instead of a new BMW or lifted Jeep, a 30 minute commute from outside the city instead of a 5 minute train ride from a hip and trendy zip code near the office. As simple as that savings today, it will compound and make things easier when they're 40 and raising a family. Simple things like that could be you start married life without college debt, or you don't borrow money to have that nice wedding. That makes things easier right there, and chances are you won't look back when you're 40 with regret, wishing you had bought that BMW when you were 27 instead of paying off your student loans. One other thing is that I really don't do social media so I'm not exposed to all these so-called "influencers" who would make me second guess my happiness with what I have in life. I have a minimal social media footprint and that's only for professional reasons and for those from my past to find me. I only FB and my FB is not visible to anyone unless I friend you and I don't browse FB on a regular basis, maybe once a year or every other year login when I get a message from someone who found me, then it's text, phone, or email after that to talk.

My dad was a bank executive my whole life. He told me he’d rather be able to buy our cars cash, own a vacation home + go on other vacations etc than wear designer labels (even tho he did wear designer just not gucci or anything like that lol) my mom grew up poor so she hates things like designer bags but she will drop 12k on a rug for her house no problem lol

My ex husband was a plumber. He used to tell me about going into brand new, extraordinary homes to do work. The living rooms would be decked out with furnishings and decor, but he'd see bedrooms with a mattress on the floor, and nothing else. So much was spent on what others would see that they couldn't afford any other basics.

It is more rare to find a really poor person, who made it to millions of dollars on youtube. It's not like these fakers can not afford a normal life, it is just that they can't afford a 50 million dollar private jet and a new bag ever other monday.

Influencers posing on private property - this happened to me during the summer of COVID. I own a small bungalow with a wrap around porch. One day I was gardening on the side of my house. Female voices, which I dimissed as the neighbors, were getting louder and louder as I was making my way to the front. When I got there, I could see two girls decked out in sun dresses sprawling across my porch furniture and snapping photos. I identified myself as the owner and asked if I could help them. They said no, they thought my house was cute and that it would make a cute backdrop for their photos. I told them I didn't want photos of my house posted on the internet and that they would have to leave. . They laughed at me and took their good old time removing themselves - clearly they felt I had the problem. Then they went across the street to my neigbor's, and planted themselves in the middle of their flower bed to take photos in front of boxwood topiaries. Needless to say, the neighbors threw them out, too. At the risk of sounding melodramatic (and I know it doesn't sound like a big deal), when it happens to you, you feel violated. (Yes, please get off my lawn :)

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Making money is not the same as keeping it there is a reason why investments aren't well taught in schools, the examples you gave are well stationed, the market crisis gave me my first millions, people shy away from hard times, I embrace them.. well at least my advisor does lol.

I know plenty of rich people, some think we are rich but we have very low cashflow, just big assets. we aren't "rich". my very wealthy friends are so humble, no flashy jewelry or gucci nonsense. if you go to a smaller shopping mall in a middle class suburb, count the jewelry shops, it's crazy! middle class spend too much money trying to look wealthy, but they fail every time.

I have a cousin who’s got 1.3 million TikTok followers, and while she definitely makes more money than the average person, she still lives way, way beyond her means. She makes a few hundred thousand dollars per year, but she lives like she’s a multi-millionaire. A lot of influencers are trying to keep up with what they see their peers doing, which is living like a celebrity with millions of dollars. So even most influencers aren’t as rich as we think they are.

I once dated an affluent gentleman, old money affluent… you would never know he nor his parents/family had money because they never ever flaunted their wealth online, or IRL for that matter. If their clothes were designer, you wouldn’t know it either; I truly think they just wanted to blend in, I found them to be lovely and fascinating!

Slightly similar for me. The richest guy I ever met had plain clothes like anyone else and his jeans were well-worn. However, he drove a $200,000 Audi. I could tell it was his because there were no rental stickers anywhere and it was clearly well-used but also well-maintained, not a crack or dent anywhere on the body. And he knew the printer he just bought at my store wouldn't fit in the "trunk." He opened the passenger side and told me to just move the seat all the way back and hold the box down with the seat belt. Another tell tale sign: all the dealership decals had been removed. I know you're not allowed to remove any decals from rental cars. That's a no-no. There was nothing to indicate where he bought the car but a close look at it indicated it had perfectly normal wear and tear. Again, i can't explain how I knew, it just hit me that he really did own the car. The only one I've seen who dressed flashy and was rich only had a very expensive sport coat but underneath, he had jeans and a well used button-up shirt. He looked a teensy bit like Paul Hogan minus the Aussie accent. He drove a Lamborghini. Again, there was nothing to indicate where he had bought the car. All signs of the dealership had been removed. I noticed when people try to flex with their rental cars, there's sometimes evidence such as a window sticker that says "No smoking, $250 cleaning fee"! Another tell tale sign: he showed up at the store again a month later with the same car. The solidified my suspicion that he was the owner and wasn't renting it. He was well mannered but also very quiet. I never even noticed him until he was 10 feet from the checkout desk.

Depending on whether they or their parents are noveau riche or old money. I used to study in hs and university with insanely rich people and you could easily tell. Many did brag about it and were deliberately flashy. Still are years after we graduated. And it's not just "slightly above average" level rich, it's "owning a football team" rich.

Just like a friend of my moms. Familybis stinking rich (100s millions). Husband drives a 10+year old pickup and wife drives a 5 year old toyota. Every once in a while the meet up at the local thrift stores. Lol. I have coworkers making less then me driving $60k or more cars and working overtime as much as possible just to make things happen on credit.

The next time you are in a store standing near a plain looking perosn who isn't dressed fancy or driving an expensive car, they may actually be millionaires. The point of being rich is not to have expensive things. The point of being rich is to have financial security and financial peace of mind. Rich people dont buy a nice car to flex to total strangers. They buy the nice car that will last so they don't have to buy another one in 4 years.

As a bartender I had a group of influencers (at the time I didn’t know) come in, ask for the prettiest drink(which took 8-10 minutes to make 4 since they were craft cocktails) for them to leave 5 minutes later not having drank any. A coworker told me after they cashed out that they were only there to get content for social media and leave. They did tip well, but that was probably the day I realized just how deep this social media thing goes. I haven’t had social media in about 2-3 years now and it has seriously been therapeutic.

I understand what you're trying to say but poverty shaming is real and it's very very isolating. No one single person can make you feel poor but if you can never join group activities or go to a bar/movie with your friends you WILL feel poor😢

My mother-in-law is the president of our local bank. She said alot of people have ZERO intentions of paying off any of the expensive things they take out loans for. She said people are very spread thin just to try to look rich. They have $750,000 houses with $90k cars, boats, motorcycles and go on extravagant vacations. They don't care if it gets repossessed. They will have an estate sale and sell everything and move. They make it look like they got a better job offer. It is all a fascade.

I've heard of people who file for bankruptcy on a regular basis in order to temporarily escape the debt, then repeat the whole cycle of over extending themselves JUST to look rich and fancy to a bunch of folks who don't give two fucks about them anyway. I totally believe this! In the US mega trucks/SUVs are the sign of wealth…they usually cost $1400/ month! Who can save with that debt hanging over your head?

I was walking back to my motorcycle after leaving work once and caught someone sitting on my bike while another person was taking her photo. Come on people, you would be upset if someone sat on the hood of your car, so stay off people's bikes!!

It’s so insane. I make good money and the people who work for me drive cars that are twice as expensive as my Kia. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I like eating and having money for a rainy day a lot more than I like pretending to have money for people I don’t know or care about. I know a woman who inherited about a million euros, blew it all, had to get a shitty job that even scratched some of her hours so she barely had any income. She got chronically ill, then had to survive of sickness benefits... She died at age 60 and barely had anything left except for a soulless apartment and a car that was luckily paid off but way above her means. She had a really sad life, always in a fight with her own family, no friends, narcissistic personality and used by another narc man, she was a cheater. She could have done so many smart things with that money. But no now she is dead and her children have to wait till the narc is out of the ugly appartment before they can inherit it and sell it.

I ordered by daughter an outfit for st Patrick’s day. It’s a cute dress and I felt so bad that a card came inside in saying “we are a small business. Please don’t wear this and return it. That hurts us”. I would never even think to do that but it’s terrible people do that. The dress was cheap too- like under $20.00

Others are also renting a 5-star hotel. A group of “influencers” rent a single room, order a single fancy meal, and take turns in taking photos. They all chip in for the room and the food. The length people go to just to appear rich. Scary and funny at the same time. 😅

My husband and I live a simple life, and we are happy. We can not go on a mini vacation because both of our parents need us a lot, they are all over 85. No worries.

I have worked for millionaires and a billionaire. I have been on private jets, ridden in limos, eaten at swanky places, worn designer stuff. That was fun, but it doesn't matter. I can't imagine being so insecure with one's self that they must create this illusion of success. Being wealthy doesn't absolve you from any human mess or drama, and faking that you have all that stuff is so pathetic. How inferior one must feel to manipulate reality. In the end stuff is stuff and followers are fake friends. You don't take any of that with you. People need to start cultivating their inner self. Holy hamburgers! Thanks for helping me see how other people aren't really making more than I do. They are just putting it on a credit card. There's something to be said about being debt free, and wearing the same clothes over and over.

I was on Rodeo Drive doing some exchanges a few months ago. There was a young woman crossing the street with all her designer shopping bags, wearing a cute outfit, having her picture taken by her (I assume) boyfriend. Obviously an influencer. When I finished my business and was heading to my car, she was STILL having her picture taken! 😂😂 The bags seemed empty to me. Who has the time for this and who cares? Perhaps I’m just too old, but I really don’t get it.

I fell victim to this. At 27 I got a really great job within the richest area in San Diego in the pharmaceutical industry. I started to be around successful folks and they are so simple. I also found my husband during this time and he has a great income so during courtship he always took me to the best restaurants and shopping trips and naturally I posted it. I quickly realized that people only wanted to be my friend because of the lifestyle I was living and people would ask me for money. I told my husband that I was done trying to flex because it's cringe because not everyone has accesss to these things and the ones who do genuinely don't care about it. I get it now. Hey it goes even further than that. I know bankers who see people trying to get moetgages loans that they can get but can't afford. Not renting but renters often can afford to save, invest, travel and look happier. I know people who got their house on display on social media (which is TERRIBLY TACKY) happy family photos car etc and now they are in serious debts can't travel, the wife cheated and regrets her kids. I then went online and looked up that yes the majority of people in the U.S and Canada have that retarded way of life to show off when they feel insecure. Real rich people don't brag or show off because they got nothing to prove. They know what they are. It is tacky. Il the medieval times when peasants received a prize from the king they would go around all happy bragging. Well that is a peasants attitude.

I had some of my friends laugh at me when I posted myself in a museum and walking in the woods. They told me that it was a holiday for the senior citizens 😮😮😮😮. I go woodland walking for health benefits when on a vacation. It’s peaceful away from city noise ❤

They pay for private photo shoots, everything she has is fake, her child is a prop. It’s very very sad. She genuinely thinks she’s an influencer on instagram, most people are following for the laughs.

I have always assumed the 'taking hundres of pictures in one trip and posting them throughout the year' was a thing and it's nice to have that confirmed. I witnessed first hand people I know in real life posting pictures of their 'weekend getaway' knowing they were home. The length people will go to appear rich, happy and better than anyone else.

Whenever people stop comparing themselves to others. It’s so easy to stand in your own lane and love what you have and to be grateful for whatever you have now. I found love in thrifting! I have some really cute clothes and they look very chic, classy, and cute! And it’s cheap and majority of that stuff are good quality clothes. I love my life after I stopped comparing myself to others lives. Because I was born to be different and not the same as others. Also discipline, obedience, and consistency can help you receive blessings in your life and move you into new seasons of your life.. please stop comparing yourselves to these social media clickbaters.. I promise that they all don’t live poised lives.

Some maybe, but others simply earn some money on the side by faking this crap. It's a bit like actors in a movie, with the hired/fake bags and stuff as movie props.

Something else to consider: Makeup, handbags, and vacations are not investments if you are not a context creator. You are not building wealth or equity with luxury purchases.

I have family members who are always dressing nice ,going on vacation , eating out at expensive restaurants and going to concerts. But then they have a crisis and they are starting a go fund me to help pay for their crisis.

The biggest spenders I know all have serious mental health issues. To sum it up: OCD, depression, suicidal thoughts, autism, germophobia, agressive behaviour, narcissism. And usually chronic illness from having these spotless houses that never challenge their immune system.

The fake events (Getting Ready but actually going to back to bed) were eye opening, as were the fake designer "plots". I am actually invited to events like the Met Gala Ball, The Grammy Awards, The Oscars, but only go when I am taking someone else who really wants to go and I never take pictures. (I don't even allow my guests to bring a phone...so tacky.). Then again, I am not an influencer - but neither are these people with their fake events, fake designer goods and deceptive vacations. Thanks for opening our eyes.

My husband is always comparing himself to others. I tell him CONSTANTLY that you only see the good things on social media. Not to mention all these people we know are probably in so much debt it’s not even funny.

Mine does this too, and it drives me nuts. People need to worry about their own affairs, and not compare themselves with others. Fix your own house. He compares himself, with what I feel are folks, (that are like that commercial, where the guy lives in a high end neighborhood, and says he's in debt up to ears or eyes measuring with his hand. Trying to keep up with his neighbors.) That's about the truth of it, most people are Soo far into debt, that they'll never get off the hamster wheel. I tell him all the time, be glad for your paid off older cars, no debt, or CC's. He always measures himself, by what others have, like their toys make them successful or something ? Instead of being happy with what he's got, which is probably way more, than the one's he's comparing himself too, because they drive newer cars or look to live a higher lifestyle than us, even though we're in the same neighborhood? He my husband, has some freedom from all of that. We live modestly and "want" for nothing, we're blessed, because "we grew up" from consumerism, have what we need, and are smart with money now, it wasn't always that way though, we were like that once too, in the rat race. Simpler is much better. Besides you can't take none of that stuff or money with you when you leave this place. Be thankful and smart with the blessings God gives you.

I haven't either, I just don't think that is right. I have a friend who did this once years ago and I was at the store with her, it was uncomfortable to say the least.

Many people have money because they're not idiots when it comes to spending. A successful dentist taught me this lesson. He drove a cheaper car, lived in a regular flat, and had modest living expenses. He still lived a good life but consistently lived below his means to gradually build visible wealth. If he got 10 dollars, live like it's only 7 dollars. Most people live like they have 15 dollars and complain afterwards.

I worked in a high end department store and these influential girls will come and buy thousands of dollars purses, designer jewelry, and clothes then next day come back and returned them. Just save as much as you can, 401k, IRA or ROTH, check out every tax deferred plan you mightbhabe access to through your employer. It ads up and in 20 yrs you will be so so glad. Houses are good but wait until they come down then dont buy what the bank tells you, you can afford. Stick to 200-400k +/- as a just a place to live a tax deduction but fancy isnt the goal. Pay $50-100 + extra on it monthly when you can. You will build wealth.

oooh, you might enjoy following some of the minimalist moms, they really highlight how you just don't NEED so much stuff, and you can have SO much happiness is having half full drawers, instead of the stress of never having enough space for your "stuff". it's weird, but for me having clothese nicely spaced out in my wardrobe feels SO great, instead of owning twice as much and never wearing it. it was such a HUGE mindshift change, and i already was a big vintage/thrifter. currently in my kitchen i have 2 basically empty drawers, and omg the JOY I get from that ...! lol, who knew.

I am over here freaking out wondering why you can't make it on six figure income??? Man with that yearly amount, our nest egg would be looking mighty hefty, because, by choice, we don't live on a lot to begin with. I'd say 90-95% of whatever is left over (after "they" take their taxes out of that) would be going into one of our many baskets to grow. I don't consider ourselves rich at all, I consider us modestly comfortable.

Literally. My hubby and I make a combined 140k and still feel poor. We just keep getting hit one thing after another. Trying to desperately buy our first house, we just still don’t feel quite ready yet. How are we making 6 figures but things are still tight? Our cars are 9 years old, but we have student loans, medical debt, and a bit of consumer debt. Plus groceries are insane right now 😢

@@Quit3Cut3 well sweetie you just answered your own question. You have student loans debt, credit card debt, and medical debt. As Dave Ramsey would say baby steps, start with the smallest amount of debt and pay that off first, then move on to the next highest one, then the next. Budget, stop eating out, shop around sales utilize coupons, utilize food pantries if ya have too, cook for yourself, no vacations, lower any bill you can any way you can. No Starbucks, no apple I phones, no high dollar nothing. It's called living below your means, learning to go without, to have more later. When I got my first little humble home, I went for half of what they approved me for. J.i.c but guess what, my payment for the home was cheaper than the rent, even with the insurance and taxes per year. Most young people's problems, are needing and wanting what their friends have, wether they can afford it or not. Most times that way if thinking gets you where you're currently at right now. Nothing wrong with looking or being poor, one you won't be a target for unscrupulous character's, it teaches you humility, and it teaches you to want better hopefully? The only way to have better, is to sacrifice wants for needs, and do things on the cheap all the way around. Once you figure that out, or "have" to go without, you'll do whatever possible if you can, to never make those same mistakes again. Especially when you see your debt lowering and your wealth building. It takes sacrifice.

I used to have a friend who would bring 2 weeks worth of outfits to a 4-5 day trip and change multiple times a day to take pictures, only to share them at different times as if she’s always going to same places on different days.

The truly rich stay rich for a reason. They don't spend all their money on crap they don't need.

I live in Austria and some weeks ago there was big news on our youth. One third of the younger population (up to 29 years old) is in serious debt. Debt for consumer goods, credit card debts, klarna, you name it. This is shocking. And I have to say: it is too easy to get into debt. When I was a student (am 46 now) my bank accountant called me when there was a tiny debt. I did not own a credit card and no bank would have offered one to me and there was no klarna.

It is very easy to get influenced to purchase stuff you don't need because these influencers border line shame you of you missed out on products they recommend.. I have watched couple youtubers who were kinda blaming people for missing out on limited edition collabs because (they were available for six months it is your fault for not having this pretty palette that I got for free with no need to fight people on checkout and I make money from you buying expensive stuff you don't need using my code!).. So next time people are gonna put stuff they dont need on credit card on things they don't need so they don't feel FOMO.. Sorry for the rant but I was thinking about this for few days and I needed to get it off of my chest and your comment was the right place 😂

@@afooraamoora5611 I absolutely understand you. We tried to help a friend of my nephew's. The girl, 18 years old had klarna debt for several thousand Euros. For cosumer goods, nothing substantial. Some make-up, some clothes. Imagine. It turned out she always felt pressure when browsing and of course FOMO. We should teach the younger generation how to use social media or (better) not to use it or to browse only a specific time per day or week. I am too old to let any stranger on the internet tell me what to wear or what to buy. And personally I do not get FOMO. I do not wish to look like everybody else so I do not feel FOMO. I developed my own style, I know my needs. I do not care about trending make-up as I know what I like to use and which colours flatter my complexion and which won't. This goes for garments as well. Knowing yourself helps a lot to not feel FOMO.

Nothing new in the States, years back , students used their school loans for a fun time , many never paid it back I believe in the 80's to the 90's

I had to explain something similar to a loved one. They were depressed because they kept seeing people on social media post about new jobs, vacations, babies, etc. I had to tell them, this is all a façade. Most people don't post about their awful days. They post about the good stuff and they'll make the good stuff look better than it really is. You don't see their depression, their struggles, their failures. You just see the perfectly posed photos.

i have an anecdote about this. i was chatting with this acquaintance of mine one day about her social media. she told me that from the outside, it looks like she has all these great friends because they’re always leaving supportive comments on her posts. but then she told me that they only do that so they can feel like they’re being good friends to her. when in reality, they don’t actually put any effort into the relationship and she feels very alone. social media is an illusion, and it’s easy to forget that

I want to say thank you, as a struggling disabled 25 year old whose insecure about their finances, appearance, job etc. I'm very grateful to hear this. Even if it isn't all of them. To know that this is even going on just reminds me to not believe everything I see online.

This is GOLD. Watched to the very end. Just take your life seriously, you will see a permanent improvement. I started and learnt consistency at 28, wasn't easy to inspire myself guys, but today I have over $3.8 million in my retirement savings at 40. Milestone for me, would have had more if i started earlier. Get help where you need one.

Agreed. I deal with an investment advisor for this reason. I currently have over $800k invested in a diversified portfolio that has grown exponentially and is suitable for all market seasons. Our current project for this year is a more concrete ballpark target.

If I was robbed of my designer handbags etc., and is terrified from the incident. I would never walk around with a fake designer bag because I would be terrified of being robbed again. I mean, what if a potential robber uses violence the next time around. That story does not make much sense to a person with common sense.

That's why I don't sell the jewelry I make on sites like Etsy anymore. Crazy that I'm required to allow return or exchange of things even when I send Etsy pics from the person's social media of them wearing the item at restaurants/weddings/etc... 🤯

The length people will go to fake their status n happiness on social media is unreal! I had a former co-worker who used to market himself as a ‘philanthropist’ on LinkedIn and wear Rolex and do crazy home renovations…I was like wow, he really upgraded his life…fast forward to a few months later, the news broke out that he stole hundreds and thousands of dollars from his new employer to fund his expensive lifestyle !!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’d be too embarrassed to fake anything! I find it amazing how some people have no shame. Not to mention you don’t have to fake anything to make your life interesting. Brilliant video 👏🏻. I'm shocked that some people seem to need to fake wealth. Money alone doesn't make you happy and for me the scam of ordering clothes etc., wearing them, taking photos and then sending them back is a big scam. People like that are really poor. I only post baked cakes or sometimes nice dishes and only my closest friends see that. The world is becoming more and more superficial. That's why I love your videos. You are honest and authentic. I think you should dress as well as you can afford to. It will help in your career and potentially in your love life. That said, most of my clothes now come from Walmart, H&M and thrift stores. Luckily I still have lovely clothes from when I was working full-time. While I buy nicer clothes 2-3 times a year, they are usually 65%-70% off. I think stores should select influencers to work with. Those influencers are allowed to return whatever they want to without being blacklisted. The stores benefit with increased sales.

There is an old book called The Millionaire Next Door. Essentially it was about how the most financially stable people tend to not look it. Instead they look average or slightly above average. When you have confidence in your financial situation, you generally don’t feel a need to flaunt it.

After being very sick in the hospital several times (4) the past couple of years. I would never go under anaesthetic for plastic surgery. It’s very scary. They can cut a muscle or do anything that’s gonna make you look worse than when you started personally, I’m learning to live with the wrinkles and the sags, and the number 11 in between my eyes of all the things of all the things you pointed out they were shocking, but which shocked me most was it people would actually buy empty paper bags from high-end stores and walk around like they bought something, honestly I don’t understand why I really can’t get it anyhow. These fake Influencers are ruining it for us common folks. I’ve seen those empty boxes and bags for sale and always wondered who would be buying these, now I know. You opened up my peepers to all the other shenanigans going on especially the young folks. Sadly i’ve unfollowed quite a few people cause lately all they do is videos on what they bought and you need these then never hear if they still like the products. They are getting ridiculous I’m surprised they are not linking the toilet paper😂😂. Love all your content, you’re a breath of fresh air and I truly trust you.❤

there's quite a few cooking channels where people use "real" items, like scratched pans, crusy baking trays, and most people love it for the actual authenticity.

My happiness comes from my family. I’m a mom to 2 boys and 1 golden retriever, and wife to the same man I married 25 years ago. I am very happy in my little bubble and find it so sad how many people seem to be chasing contentment through things and fancy trips/luxury experiences. It is so tiresome to me to watch some of my friends constantly chasing attention for their wealth, some actually look down on me for NOT partaking in expensive trips, etc. I love the simple joys of life- and of course, certain beauty products make me quite happy- but nobody has any clue what kind of products I use or buy! And I don’t care- why would I? Social medial is so dangerous- we need to make sure our children know the real scoop. Another thing - CREDIT CARD DEBT.

Preach sis. YES -this world is so overwhelming..everyone is so busy ignoring the nature wonders of life, chasing material emptiness.

I'm glad i was born with an "I don't care what you think of me" attitude. I've never been interested in keeping up with the Jones' I have a great "garage sale" wardrobe and have what I need and nothing more. I'd rather save and go on vacation every other year than buy an overpriced pair of shoes to impress people.

I’m so sad that the social media world deems the value of a person by what they “have” materially, I literally can’t believe my ears . To anyone reading this comment , tomorrow I will be dropping my disabled son of with his support worker and then in the precious few hours I have I will be putting the ironing board up cus the clean laundry pile is representing the mountain out of close encounters of the third kind . Totally agree with a lot you said. My question is when will people stop it? It's sad. I ball on a budget and stay in my own lane. I also learned comparison will make you sad. I set goals and stay focused because it's a lot of fronting going on in society.

I met several millionaires (1-50 millions) most of them drove normal cars and wear normal clothes and behave like normal working class.

When I bought my items, I left the store with a blank or brown bag, (offered by the store) so that I don’t get targeted for theft. I absolutely accepted the blank bag. Walking around with a ton of bags would just be a a hell to get targeted for theft.

Especially nowadays. The crime rates are soaring everywhere! No one is as safe as they think if you’re out spending money (or pretending to), you’re a possible target.

Honestly, when you started talking about influencers going on one holiday and taking a lot of photos to make sure they have enough for the whole year, that just made me so sad. I’ve been on trips with friends where all they do is ask me (or someone else) to take their photos and I just want to actually enjoy my vacation. Yes, it may be nice to later look at some pictures, but it’s so sad how we have become so focused on making our lives LOOK perfect for the world, yet it just drives us deeper and deeper into depression, constant external validation, and unappreciation of what we already have in our lives 😢 the other sad part is kids have to grow up with these values now and they will never know what a happy childhood it was when technology was not as developed, late 90’s - ‘00 ‘s. My mom often struggled to put food on the table for us, but I still remember my childhood as the sweetest moments of my life, with real human connections and making real memories ❤

The new rich is debt-free and a homeowner paid for....
