I just realized what makes Pentatonix's music so unearthly and beatiful. They ALL sing as if they were singing the Lead Part!! Each artist sings with such precision, and focus, no matter what their "role" is n the performance.

This video is in my top 5 all-time Pentatonix favorites. The emotional lead by Kirstin, with Avi's equally emotional solo, the silences during the slow additions of each member to the song just after Avi's solo, and the buildup to the climax, with Kevin bringing things back down to earth - it's about as perfect as a song gets, for me. I believe that this was the first video where Kevin celloboxed with the group - always a treat to see/hear him playing cello! The "stillness" of the video is based on the idea that it's an old-time photograph, where people had to sit still for up to several minutes in order not to be blurred. You may notice that Scott (who tends to sing with his hands) is gripping the chairs in front of him very tightly in order not to move - there are a few shots where you can see his arms jerk as he starts to move and then remembers he's not supposed to be!

I fell down that rabbit hole last year. When I saw this one, my only comment was, “Well, that was heartbeaking.” They’re all performers, but Kirstie is the Broadway/West End musical type and her facial acting in this one is devastating.

This is such a beautiful sad song and they do it so well. ❤ They always emote so well too. Kirsti looking like she’s about to cry at times. It’s amazing. On a happier note I can imagine Scott’s knuckles being white from holding on to the chairs so he won’t move them around 😊

She very well could have been near tears at that time. She had an infected eyebrow piercing during the filming of this video. If you look at her right eyebrow it’s a little puffy and she wasn’t feeling great at the time. And this may have been Beyoncé’s first appearance with the group. (That’s what Kevin’s cello is called).

I saw a comment on another channel that Kirsti had an eye infection when filming the video. Worked out really well, the expression on her face leads to the emotive feel of the song. Scott, white knuckling the chair so he didn't swing his arms around like he normally does was quite amusing.

I got to see Pentatonix in concert twice last year - the world tour last August in an outdoor amphitheatre and the Christmas tour in December in an indoor arena. Needless to say, both shows were spectacular, but very different. The summer concert included an opening act, and the set list was songs we knew and loved, while the Christmas concert was just PTX and was (obviously) all holiday numbers - but included their new, awesome releases (Kiss From a Rose and Pure Imagination/Christmastime is Here.) The Christmas concert also included a lovely intimate surprise with the use of a second stage at the back end of the arena (RIGHT in front of me - I almost died for joy!) These concerts were worth every penny and every hour of driving to get there (3 hours for one concert and 7 for the other), and I'll do it again when I get the chance! 💗

It's so sad that it is so hard to react to Pentatonix videos without getting it blocked by the powers that be of KZread or the capricious management of the recording industry. I first discovered PTX through reactors. I find that I don't watch as much PTX anymore because of it. It is not that I don't still love them. I just get tired of hearing that the videos are blocked and reactions are only on Patreon or another alternate site. I miss the old enthusiasm of my favorite reactors, I guess. @Gwennedd they also had one with Avi that was all or mostly originals, I don't remember album titles.

I believe it was Avi who was harmonizing with the cello…also just a thought… I know you must stop during the song for copyright reasons, but please don’t stop so often because it’s frustrating and ruins the continuity of the song. I do love your reactions, honestly, but perhaps not so many little things to comment about. Just a thought…hopefully a constructive one, to make watching your channel smoother and more enjoyable. Thank you!

She is a vocal coach and it is a reaction channel. And copyright has almost made it impossible for these people to do it the way we would like it. Just go to the official video and watch it uninterrupted there. Problem solved.

@@chrispavlich9656 I understand the process. I’ve seen the video dozens of time. I like Jennifer. I just think she is over-picky. Going over the same line several times and pointing out obvious things. I watch many reactors and have for several years. With the exception of a couple, they all stop and comment due to copyright. However, I’m also a musician and music lover. I do love watching other people enjoying and reacting to the music. Jennifer is one of a very few who feel the need to point out every little, and I mean every little thing. I’ve watched Jennifer react to lots of songs, and she does the same thing with all of them. It’s almost painful, the number of pauses. I was merely suggesting that she pause fewer times to keep the flow of the song. Respectfully submitted.

Not enjoying. So focused on all the music you do not feel the song. Will enjoy other reactions. I often do not like coach reactions.

And it only took Jennifer nine and a half years to react to this. Talk about a backlog situation. Geez!!
