PENTATONIX Gold Reaction

G'day guys, today we are reacting to Pentatonix Gold. This song was pure gold, lets just take a minute to appreciate how much Scott killed it on this song. He smashed it out of the park.

They just make it seem so effortless don't they? I swear Mitch isn't human. lol And there is no better beatboxer than Kevin. And Avi -- well, it's AVI -- he's just freaking amazing.

LOL! Meat and Potatoes killed it! Scott was so good but that little bit where Kirstie's "fallin'" comes in right after Mitch's "roof was" and Scott's "let me's & love me's" right after Kirstie is timing PERFECTION!

Everybody does kill it in this one. It's so tight and so good. The thing with this cover, for me, is that Mitch sounds so effortless that I think it's easy to miss how hard the lead is on that song. It's insane how easy he makes stuff sound. But the original is heavily produced, especially the part that "skips around". It's insane to be able to skip that seamlessly between registers!

🔥Scott did kill it his vocal ability is AMAZING!! But they all SLAYED!!!.. Avi's bass and K.O's beatboxing was ON POINT Kirstie and Scott BEAUTIFULLY backing up Mitch's IMPRESSIVE lead...💯NO OTHER ACAPELLA GROUP comes close to PTXs genius!!🤯

This is a real tour de force for Mitch and really shows how tight these guts are. Their starts, stops, swells - all incredibly precise in unison, and Avi and Kevin drive the piece on the bass line. Thanks for your reaction and best to your bird!

You should listen to the original! The original tune was heavily produced in the studio for the vocals and Mitch and Scott and kirstie reproduced the sound LIVE! Incredible cover, as always much better Tina the original. Love you reactions by the way

I LOVE that you appreciated Scott in this! I love all of them, even Matt, and I know most people love Mitch, which is well deserved. Mitch has a very unique voice and is very beautiful and he's very talented, but imo, Scott uses his voice talents more than Mitch does. Granted, Scott leads most songs, but he's also done more solo work than Mitch. Again, just imo, I think Mitch 'may' still be a little insecure from being bullied in high school about his voice and/or overshadowed, idk, but I would love to see more solo stuff from Mitch. I know that Kirstie didn't seem as secure in her talent until AFTER she did her stint in Kinky Boots on broadway. Since then she seems like a different person/singer. And, last night I made a last minute decision to drive 3 hours tonight to go see PTX in concert again...I'm so excited!!! Saw them last year during the summer, outside, so it'll be interesting to hear what they sound like in an arena setting

I think I see what you mean about Mitch and solo work, but in my opinion, Future Friends was almost a Mitch showcase, where it seemed like Scott intentionally took a back seat to let Mitch shine. I could be reading too much into it, but that's how it felt. Totally get it about driving to see them... I've seen them twice now and the second time was last year in the summer. I drove just an hour away but it was a work night, and I went back and forth about whether I ought to go or not. I kept watching tickets and some close to the stage came open at the last minute so I bought them and went... SO GLAD I did!!! The show was Amazing, and I loved being so close! I swore then and there that from then on, if I ever had the remote chance to go and see them, I need to do it, every single time. I also have to say re: the Scott/Mitch dynamic, that I love Mitch and I think he's extremely talented and beautiful, but Scott is actually my favorite. I love his voice and his style and his personality. And I get the sense that he is a strong and supportive person when it comes to leadership in the group, and has a work ethic that won't quit. HOWEVER. Seeing them in concert, and especially the last time? I have to say that Mitch absolutely has that Star Quality that you just can't define. His stage presence in person is.... Whew. Unbelievable. He's so, so, so larger than life. I have hope that he's going to grow into that potential with his confidence and do great things yet to come. 💙💜💚💛🧡💖

they all pack a punch and take out any one member and everything falls appart. I think what is most shocking is that when you see what each individual member is able to accomplish on their own you then realize that they use only a portion of their immense talent when in the group in order to allow the global feel of the song to come through ( if that makes any sense).

Yes I will say that was a fabulous bass line, I love that on this song! And when you're talking about Scott sounding and singing so well mid-range and then just bopping on down to his normal range with ease it brings to mind something that I think is part of why Pentatonix has been able to find really gain a huge following. Each one of them busts out of their "assigned range by definition" and can sing just as comfortably way the heck out of their range's supposed limits. And they are able to stretch their limits at both ends of their range effortlessly mid song then return to their assigned range. Mitch does that too. When I first started really paying attention to what was going on with their music and breaking it down I was really confused many times about Hoover singing the high notes. Mitch and Kirstie have voices that sound very similar. But if you listen Mitch's way down there in tenor range in the background 90% of the time with Kirstie carrying the high notes. And we all know that Mitch can just sing higher than a man should be able to sing and sound so good. It took me long time read that to really sink in. That Mitch was singing low in that song in the background. On the flip side, Kirstie is now gifting us with a very well-rounded strong and confident lower end of her range then we've really heard from her before. And I know for sure that she was taking voice lessons because she mentioned it herself when she did her little promotional appearances for her album a few years ago. They are multi-talented and have worked very very hard to hone their skills that hadn't been really developed to their full potential before. I just love these life couch sessions! I'm glad they still do them today because that's how they got started after winning The Sing-Off and the big prize of the Sony recording contract only to have that contract dropped the very next week as Sony did not see acapella as marketable. You think they wouldn't be offering a recording contract to the winner of an acapella singing contest if they didn't believe in and want to support what they were doing

As always great reaction...they kill all the songs they cover. My favorite is always Avi and Kevin. Mitch is as always perfect. I agree Scott was super important with his different parts. One thing I really do love as well is Kristens parts in all songs. Another reactor pointed out how important her background parts are (he wasn't just obsessed with looks, but the music like you). And i am listening to the background vocals and appreciating the complexity of their arrangements more because of it reactors pointing it out, thank you. I am guilty of under appreciating the background vocals and how they round out and complete the song, no more. But the bass and beat are always to soul of the song to me. Love they just are getting more and more into the music and of course Avi dancing lol. Can't wait for the new special. Also Avi's new video on Friday!!

This is just one of the songs that really demonstrates the difference between PTX with and w/o Avi. His voice is so smooth and agile that it's almost impossible to replace. Since Avi left the group they are just not the same. The harmonies have changed and their new bass is pretty limited when compared to Avi's. Sorry. I love early PTX but since Avi left I've been fairly disappointed. I give PTX props for breathing new life into A Capella music as a genre and with Homefree changing baritones (Chris Rupp leaving and Adam Chance joining) giving their music more versatility in the harmonies they have taken the front and not looking back.
