They were not Tori's adlibs. Jacob wrote (and sang) the adlibs and Tori performed them.

He sang them at half speed, let's be correct here. He just hoped Tori would be that human who could sing double time runs in every key. And she could :) Watch the making of to see the original recordings of Jacob.

@@dieterdohlen6386 Make no mistake about it, he sang them so she could get it! And she did. Tori is nice, make no mistake about it! And she is extremely humble. I appreciate that. She allowed him to give her these riffs. A lot of these arrogant, stuck on themselves, conceited singers would NEVER allow it! But, that being said, the skill of these riffs are ALL JACOB! To the point he tried to see what she created after he gave her a riff, and she had nothing to match the skill level of what he gave her. AGAIN, if she had done it all herself it would have been nice, because she's a good singer, but she would NOT have thought of anything near what he gave her! As a singer myself, I LOVE to let other producers give me ideas. It challenges me and expands my vocabulary! Tori is humble enough to do that, and she's a better vocalist for it! I love her even more for doing it!

What Tori is sings is what Jacob suggested, including the runs, Tori took it and killed it … Jacob is amazing, his musical ideas are so creative … 👍

Jacob is, I’ve been told, the first british musician to win a grammy on each of his first four albums. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, composer/arranger (did this arrangement), producer and genius. There is an hour-long instructional video on his channel explaining what he did to make all this work in his preferred program, Logic. Every line Tori Kelly sang on this track was fed to her by JC singing it to her and her singing it right back. To confirm a previous post, Tori’s verse was done in an hour in her home studio before she had to leave to an already scheduled gig. There’s also a longer version video than the one you saw with excerpts from that session. Other than Yebba, John and Tori, every voice is Jacob’s… no auto-tune, click tracks, etc. This young man is disturbingly talented. You might want to react to JC’s arrangement of “Don’t You Worry ‘bout a Thing”, which is the one Quincy Jones discovered Jacob. There’s also “The Flintstones Theme”. Another one if QJ’s recent discoveries is a group from Sweden called Dirty Loops. Have you reacted to any of their stuff?

“And Waldo if you can find him” 😂 you’re so funny. For me, anything Tori Kelly does is elevated to a new level! Her talent is out of this world!!

If you want to know more about Jacob Collier - the BBC did a documentary on him and his career so far a little over a year ago called "Jacob Collier - In the Room Where it Happens" which you can find on KZread. Basically, the consensus among musicians is that he is a once in a generation (or more) musical genius. Legendary producer Quincy Jones has said of Jacob, "Never in my life have I seen a talent like this." If you want to react to a few of his songs you might try "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" (which he released on KZread when he was 18 and which immediately caught the attention of people like Herbie Hancock and Quincy), or his arrangements of "All Night Long" or "Moon River" both of which won Grammy Awards (Jacob has won six and been nominated 12 times). Have fun!

The first part is Yebba's version, ALL the backgrounds are Jacob Collier throughout the song, he has amazing range. Yebba did not want named in this because she said she had already done her version and she did not add anything new to this one.

Fun fact: Jacob was up against the deadline for the album release and was in L.A. so he called Tori to do the 3rd verse. She only had an hour free before a gig so he went to her house and walked her thru some of the riffs and it took less than an hour. Below. I believe that artwork is actually a 3-D sculpture (maybe in Lucite?) that was on display a while and that that they digitized it for some of the video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6uWzZmbZNace5c.html

Goosies, every single time. Can we talk about Jacob's range? The highs and lows that he is producing is incredible. I know you saw a short of him and Tori working on this, but the actual video is a couple of minutes long and so very much worth a watch or a reaction! It also shows both Jocob's and Tori's incredible range. Great reaction! Eargasam indeed!

Yebba was on a break and recorded her portion on her phone. That's why it's lo-fi. He harmonzied it as part of his #IHARMU series of short submissions from fans and friends. Lots of people wished hers had been longer. A year or two later he did just that by adding John and Tori but Yebba didn't want credit to to re-record. I Harm U Part 1: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYFm0MqFg8iwiMo.html Yebba original: kzread.infoy9RUgsD8dRY For Jacob I started with "All Night Long" and "Moon River" but since then there have been so many more including his own music like this, my fave from DJesse Vol 4: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5WA082ee9ueYZc.html

Welcome to the otherworldly mind that is Jacob Collier. I've been loving the different reaction videos of this song and others by Jacob. I recommend watching the ones with the vocal coaches to put words to what you're hearing. Also, PBS just recently released Jacob's rendition of "Wild Mountain Thyme" with Laufey and dodie at the Kennedy Center. Go watch that and see how Jacob conducts the audience. Go follow dodie and Laufey just as well. Jacob is the musical genius of this generation.

Jacob took Yebba's video and added harmonies to it and posted his video a couple of years ago. He went on to finish the song and contacted John, Tori and Yebba. Yebba didn't want to rerecord her part and also didn't want be credited. Jacob has about an hour video talking about putting this together where he goes through his thought process and why he went in the directions the he did.

Jacob cleaned the part of Yebba with AI technique because she sang it in a random closet/room and there had been a lot of noise all around. He usually does everything himself, arranging, the mixing, video work and all instruments/voices... he sang Toris´ parts for her (all the high stuff too) and they did it bit by bit and he stitched all of the parts together - a whole new definition of the term "genious".

Jacob has so much good stuff - but experiencing him live takes it to another level again… I’ve been lucky enough to see him live twice, and they are both the greatest musical experiences of my life. I’d suggest reacting to his solo version of Queen’s “Somebody to Love” live in Lisbon, Portugal. Absolutely jaw-dropping stuff!
