Penny Mordaunt brutally responds to Angela Rayner in Commons over donations claims

Penny Mordaunt struck a bullish tone in the Commons, describing allegations raised by opposition MPs as based on “speculation, innuendo and smear” rather than fact.
Labour’s deputy leader, Angela Rayner, who secured an urgent question on ministerial interests, had accused Government ministers of acting “like rules are for other people” and levelled claims against Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Home Secretary Priti Patel and Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
Ms Mordaunt said the public do have an interest in the issue of standards in public life but view criticisms raised in the Commons during the urgent question “as a load of flannel”.

You should watch her embarrassing rant at the Conservative Party Conference ( fight, fight and more fight ) and you will quickly see why her fellow MP’s did not vote for her in an earlier PM election . Penny Mordaunt is trying to defend the indefensible by diversifying away from the fact that the Conservatives have been absolutely useless for the last 14 years and are responsible for the highest national debt seen in this country since 1945 . They lied to get the Brexit vote and lied at the General Election as none of their promises have been fulfilled .
Once again Penny dismantles ill thought out Labour sleeze based on emotion and prejudice. The term 'Right Honourable Lady' applied to Ms Raynor defies belief.

About time Rayner was sorted out!
That's why 37 billion pounds went to wife of Tory MP to run useless track & trace system, even though she had no experience in healthcare. Also many experienced PPE suppliers were snubbed, when they offered to help with shortages, instead favouring companies set up specifically by their friends and donors, again with no experience, consequently producing millions of pounds worth of useless protective gear which had to be burnt. As far as I know, not one penny has been retrieved from said companies.

How short everyone’s memory is and they have conveniently forgotten how we stood on the edge of the precipice of the unknown last year scrambling everywhere. I suppose that’s why they call him captain hindsight. It’s funny, the first thing I do when I need to source something in business is call someone I know (isn’t that the obvious thing to do?) and trust rather than going through a lengthy RFP process and trusting a complete stranger who has spent the last 8 weeks trying to guess what I want to hear so they can win the contract. I work with government tenders. I can tell you first hand why they skipped the process.
I love watching this. I've watched it several times. Mordaunt cleans Angela Moaner so efficiently it is beautiful to watch and listen to.

Thankyou for putting it on the record, to what level the disdain and anger at the brass neck and hypocrisy of Angela Raynor and her cohorts who bring the Labour party into disrepute, and as long as they are there I will never vote Labour again I just don't trust them to do whats right for the country or myself. Mordaunt showed yesterday that a competent and informed politician will always out perform someone who has a politician's job because they shout the loudest. Rayner is little more than catherine tates Lauren's character. Amazing, BBC, Sky, ITV and C4 have all failed to cover the best put down in parliament in modern times. I assume because they also like it behind the bike shed. I have watched the exchange. It was a woman against a baby. Penny absolutely demolished hapless Rayner. Sir Kneel Smarmer was absolutely right to demote her then absolutely plotless to promote her with a larger brief. I think she needs to be thrown on the scrap heap, but if you want to keep her, then she will be a gift that keeps on giving. Wonderful performance Penny.

Raynor was just sitting quietly behind her mask thinking “ bugger I’ve messed this one up” I bet she didn’t try it on Mordaunt again. His main attack on the Tories has been about sleaze and despite their achievements he’s had an argument. But beyond that he looks weak and fairly monotone. This woman will just outstare him and he will wilt. I’m looking forward to that.

One of them is privileged condescending and insincere (' I wish her well') The other is honest and well meaning. I can see how sycophants can idolise the 'elite' but you only have to look at the results to realise you are misguided - over the last 11 years the rich have got richer and the rest of us poorer - no accident just the result of tory policies - why do YOU think they are in power if not to represent their cabal of entitled rich people at the expense of everyone else?
