Thank you, things are very difficult out there right now. We've been able to talk with many of our friends, they're safe but some have lost everything in the fires. 😪

I have a Philodendron "Birkin". It has such pretty leaves. I got it as a starter plant and recently re-potted it. It's doing well. I also have 2 calatheas. One is an Orbifolia and the other one is called a rattlesnake. My most recent plants are succulents. One is a String of Pearls and the other one is a Turquois Tail sedum. I loved watching you work with your plants and that inspired me. I also have you and Michael in my thoughts and prayers because of the fires on Maui. I don't know what area you lived in, but I hope all the friends you made there are okay. What a horrible natural disaster to have happened.

Christina, I’ve never commented on any of your videos but I have been watching you on and off for the past eight years. I have watched you when you first started out with a make up channel and then slowly move into your natural lifestyle. I had over 200 plants at one time myself, the continent you put out reminds me of one of my absolute favorite KZread channels here on KZread. The plant Sidney guy? Have you heard of him? you two have the exact same aroid soil mixture. your philodendron is absolutely phenomenal! Beautiful video like always😉🌺❤️

I know what you mean about the plant being so happy and not wanting to disturb it -- I did that with my Pilea - it grew HUGE and finally I had to prune it back - thankfully they are like beautiful weeds in that they regrow so quickly...interesting vid, Christine! ♥

Thank you. This past week has been... filled with overwhelming emotion and sadness, it's devastating. Seeing everyone trying to escape from the fires, going into the water, trapped in their vehicles in traffic jams, trying to get out of the town. The unimaginable shock, trauma, devastation, grief, loss of life, everything they're going through on Maui right now... its crushing. We've been trying to get in touch with all of our friends. You might remember Nui from our vlogs. She's a farmer upcountry in Kula, she lived on her farm and grew all kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables, sold at the swap meet/farmers markets, her produce stand, etc. Her entire farm burned down, she lost her home, farm, produce warehouse, food truck, everything she worked her entire life for, it's all gone. Maui is a tight-knit community, everyone will come together and rebuild. We've talked about going out there to help. Michael is a custom home builder, he has all the tools needed to build homes. We don't want developers coming in, taking advantage of the people, trying to take the land, for more resorts and golf courses. We want the people to have their homes and property back. 🌺❤️‍🩹

@@christinekobzeff I am so sorry to hear about Nui. What a heartbreak. Is there maybe a go fund me page for her so that people can donate. I live in Houston Texas and visited Maui twice in my life and Maui has such a special place in my heart. This tragedy is all i think about right now. Feel so sad for the people that lost everything. If you can get some links how to help directly to people effected please share. I already donated to Maui Strong Fund but i feel its not enough. 😭

Great video. Just one 'tip"? When i have a huge root ball that I want to put on a pole, I just cut a hole in the pole to give the roots additional roots. Its been helpig so that the roots are too compressed.

Very impressive. I got my 1st philodendron partriciae from Ecuador and as soon as I finished potting it the leaves were turning silverygrayish and finally died. Don't know what went wrong !. After watching this video, I'm planning to order a new one and give it another try. 🙏

I was so sad when I saw how all of Lahaina had burned down. How terrible. People and animals and plants and whole homes etc.😭🙏❤️. Hope that it will be good for all the people now and that the help will arrive quickly. Lived a nice time in my life in 1989 in Kihei so Maui is always in my heart as you know Christine. All the best to you and Michael. Nice with your plants🪴🌱❤️💞.

This is a great video. I love how observant you are with your plants. How did you rehab your P patriciae? I have a seedling with one leaf that came in the mail pretty saturated with water and potted in very fine sphagnum. I can tell by the yellow margins of the leaf that it is having a moisture issue. Really want to repot it but don’t want to add to its stress. What was your humidity level when you rehabbed the plant? What does it sit at now. I know you are in the desert, but not sure if you humidify your space or if it is just accustomed to pure Sonoran air 😁

So awhile back you had a video and there was a cactus in it. I think maybe the haworthia variety. But it was rounded and it was like it was fluid filled. Does this make sense. I have been wanting one of those and can not find the video or plant name. Please help.

if you had moss pole since beginning when you got it as baby, it would be 2-3x bigger and root mass in the pot will be also 2-3x smaller because each node woudl root into moss and bottom rootball wont be developing that much. Now all that stem you put against the moss pole is a bit "waste of the moss pole" Those aerials are too dry to root inside. What i do when i have bigger plants, i rather air layer top node until i see some roots, cut it and plant it on the moss pole . It`ll continue sizing up and i either sell bottom part or keep it as "reserve" until im 100% sure my top cutting is doing good. PS : instead of clinge wrap, you can use PP sheet inserted into the moss pole. I use 8cm diameter which means 20 "squares" on the grid and 14 eyes are covered by pp sheet from inside, 6 empty "squares" is enough for stem to root in. It stays wet for 1 week+

I have a big Philodendron Berlin that has some spotted leaves just like you showed. You said they were from spider mites. I checked mine closely and see no mites or webbing. Could it have had them at one time and recovered without any treatment? I can’t imagine missing them since I work with my plants a lot. Could it be caused by something else? Donna

Hi Christine 👋🏻 I live in the UK, it's October, it's rainy and cloudy and I've just got myself a philodendron patriciae cutting! It arrived yesterday. It's in a see through orchid style pot with verrry course forest floor substrate, and now I'm freaking out and I don't know what to do! I've placed it in 'the plant room' which is a box room with a south facing and east facing window; it's just sat on the desk... i wish there was some way I could send a picture of it... should I be doing anything special with it other than watering aka flushing it every week or so? The temperatures outside at the moment are 13-6⁰C aka 55-42⁰F and it's raining most days. I'm planning to get grow lights to help my alocasias and other plants through the winter this year. Any thoughts? 🙏🏻

What's your advice on Misting plants ? seems some like it and some don't.

  • @christinekobzeff

When I first started growing aroids, I tried misting some of them but I found it didn't make much of a difference misting leaves. But if it's a climber, the stem and aerial roots do get stimulated by moisture. So instead of misting the plants, I focus on just keeping their moss poles moist. 🌿
