Happy New Year! Thank you for another year of interesting videos. I can imagine you and Michael with your own property and an amazing conservatory with tropical plants and a greenhouse filled with propagations. Your different soil mixes have been helpful to me this year and my plants are growing faster than ever. All the best to you and those you love.

So informative. Thank you! I got a larger one, but was leggy and hard to repot. So I cut it in 3. It roots readily, and multiple shoots from each piece. Not super fast grower, but it seems one of the most adaptable tropical Philodendron species. Great research and delivery on this video. 😊

Holy cow! Your video was perhaps the most informative video I have ever seen on this species! I recently tried to import one also from Ecuagenera, but it died a swift death even though I had it in moss and a humidity tote. Can you please share how you rehabbed yours? I am getting a new one in soon and I want to make sure I have everything ready.

Hi, great video - your glass shelving appears to take a fair amount of weight, especially as they are heavy terracotta pots. What is the thickness of the glass please? My shelving is 4mm & always wonder how much weight they will actually take. Thanks.

I really appreciated the data-driven information pertaining to the P. patriciae you presented in this video. It was all very useful. I just ordered one online and it'll be here in a few days! Also, since discovering this moss pole method, watering in place has been a breeze. Not to mention the outstanding results in those leaves: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4NssLNqo9vJgaQ.html

Hey Shawn, you can totally use plastic too if you want. For my setup, I do prefer terracotta for increasing air circulation around the roots, since these are epiphytes/hemiepiphytes, as opposed to terrestrial species growing in soil on the forest floor. For my watering style, I'd rather water freely without the worry of causing root rot, than to risk inadequate oxygen flow at the roots. My thinking on this is that the plant consistently receives fresh water flow full of oxygen, more similar to rainfall, instead of just being in wet soil where the water is generally more stagnant. I hope that helps. Thanks!

Fyi, they are not coco husk "totems," they're moss poles / coco husk poles. Totems are 'sacred' to Native Americans. Please have respect for our brothers and sisters.
