Came back to say, respectfully, that's a really bad idea. There are a few reasons why. 1. Marketing is not a science. There are a few rules that generally hold and a few best-practice changes that apply in some situations, but most of the successful stuff is intuitive. There's also a ton of luck involved. People hire marketing firms to achieve results they couldn't otherwise. Our friend Lady Pelvic here has her shit mostly figured out, IMO. 2. In the case of Pelvic Gaming, the videos are good because they're an expression of who she is, what she likes, what she reasonably expects her viewers (hers; not just any viewer) will like, and so on. There's a billion reasons why the algorithm might not be so hot on her. Any approach that attempts to catch its attention by displaying the behaviours that we can infer it wants everyone to follow means another step away from this being an artistic endeavour towards it being an ad funnel. It can be both conceptually, but it can't practically be both to equal degrees. 3. The audience you're talking about is a product to KZread. It's devoid of intrinsic meaning in an advertising context. There's no reason to think the channel couldn't grow (just takes a bit of RNG luck) "organically" given the right amount of time. Eight years is a lot, yes. But the usual path towards financial success - outside of Patreon, which comes with way smaller problems than YT monetisation - goes: Sell audience to YT advertisers -> rewarded by algorithm -> audience grows and shifts character (ads and perhaps a new style put off old viewers, but many more people discover the channel) -> algorithm rewards the exact kind of "content" it wants, ignores the rest -> disillusioned channel creator (Punished Pelvic) makes a frustrated video about how the creative stuff with artistic merit that they want to be making doesn't make them any money, which at this point they depend on -> transformation from creative human being to "content creator" complete (usually with burnout in the foreseeable future).

@@MacJulian88 lol that’s a lot of negativity, sir. Judging by the 88 in your name, I’m going to assume that’s the year you were born. So, as a 34 yr old adult you should know that today marketing isn’t just luck, it’s a skillset that can be learned as well. I spent 6 months working in digital marketing and know ways on how to make this girl succeed, and I can tell she goes about creating content organically without consideration for reach and engagement. Outside of everything else you said, I know it’s possible for a channel to grow exponentially because of first hand experience - from what I know of her, she’s into art and doesn’t have much knowledge on advertising as a trade. That was the case for me years ago and truthfully, the marketing skills are transferable in the hobby she’s into on her second channel as well.

My username has always been 1ofthewizards, but recently a 330 was added to the end which I never chose in any way. You also have an 88 tacked on to the end of your username too btw.

Well whether you decide to stay on YT or not, let me just tell you that your content has reached a worldwide audience. I myself have been following you for a few years now, way over in WEST AFRICA lol. Your reviews are a great blend of technical detail, informed opinions (you actually play the games you review)... & humor that's actually funny ! I wondering if she did live streams with other well known YT content creators if it would bring more attention to her channel? I mean Spawnwave has a bunch of content creators or maybe she can try it with that niche of JRPG people like Erick Langdon RPG, Super Derek, DavidVinc, etc that might not have the biggest channels, but could give all those creators more exposure too (like all of them too BTW)

I also think its because she takes too much time to post another video between each reviews. Because of the KZread algorythm she has to literally spam videos, to do that she can also try shorter reviews, like a 10min test of a random game you know...

@@Oggre I think JRPG's are hard to review in that many require many hours to experience the story, so its a gamble which ones will get views and playing through one and making a review requires a lot of time to do. I am early into Chained Echoes as of writing this, have no idea how long the game is, but am enjoying it so far, couldn't imagine making a reivew probably dozens of hours later.

As someone who is about to start her first job in two days, I totally understand not feeling like you know your place in the world. I'm 29 years old, still live at home, only now just found my first job... adult living is incredibly hard and stressful. Hey! I wish you the best of luck in pursuing your art career! I found personally that I don't like to do commission work and greatly prefer working for studios, the stability and not having to deal with clients and chase them down makes it worthwhile, plus eventually you get to work on some pretty cool projects and can make some really good cash! That being said a bunch of my friends way prefer the freedom to take whatever projects they want whenever they want. Make sure you don't downplay your success on KZread though and leverage it for whatever industry you end up going into, (games, comics, animation, design, fashion... whatever) being able to articulate your thoughts and edit videos are super valuable skills.

I think you do excellent work. I’ve been following games and games criticism for 25 years and it’s not common for me to find creators/critics worth following, but you're one of them. I hope you can continue to do this but understand the balance of it may change based on what is financially and creatively fulfilling. Good luck with whatever you choose to do, no doubt you can do it.

Yay, you used some of my footage for Nagito, I'm honored. :) As for the whole objective and subjective part, I absolutely hate when people can't differentiate between the two. Something you like doesn't make it objectively good and vice versa. Whenever I talk to somebody about a video game, a movie or a tv show this is something that drives me nuts when people can't grasp the difference. Plus, how writing and story are different things. You can have a mix of both good and bad between those two. That's something that people often seem to struggle with too. So yeah, two pet peeves of mine then, not one. :P

As someone who had seen your videos on my suggestions for a while before watching, I want to say it definetely helps to put something that summarises your opinion of the game in the thumbnail and the title. The naming of the channel had weirded me out a bit at first and I think that kept me from clicking on your videos when I first saw them. The first video I've watched on your channel was the Bayonetta one (I was specially curious because most of the reviews I've seen have been exceedingly positive) and then I stuck around because I really like your approach to reviewing, like humour, sincerity and attention to details (specially soundtracks). Looking forward to seeing more reviews from you in 2023, and hoping that you find your path this year :)

Not sure how yt works to gain more views but maybe some collabs could boost numbers. Your reviews and content are top 10 easily and alot of others know it like taurks and super derek for example. Even one vid amount would be great for me, the art channel will help too as it can bring other fans to both your hobbies and your still doing it for fun and wont become work yet. Hi PG, I recently came across your channel a few months ago and have been hooked. The games you review, your personality, you have so much soul, it bleeds through the screen. I would highly recommend to be a reviewer for a more commercial company like IGN and others. You resume is surely extensive enough and again, so entertaining to watch. Please consider!

Honestly I think around 50K subs and 10k views per video is a great achievement for a channel that focuses on reviews of JRPGs, so you should take that as an affirmation more than anything. I follow a lot of channels like this and many aren't even close to that mark despite having great content. Gaming channels with a hundreds of thousands or even millions of subs tend to have a much broader target audience.

I'm glad to see not only someone acknowledging my spirit animal, but also understanding that not everything (even most things) HAVE to be all good or all bad; life has a lot more nuance to it than that. On a more serious note, it would be sad to see you leave KZread, but you're still young; you do what you need to do to take care of yourself and chase your dreams. That's coming from someone whose youth has come and gone, and still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up; corporate drone's paying the bills for right now. Zoe Bee just put out a great video on this sort of thing called "The truth about being a content creator (or, "quit apologizing and be an artist")", and that might help. Hi Pelvic! I just discovered your channel um, yesterday haha, but I LOVE your content. Above all, I want you to be healthy and happy, so whatever that means for you I’d support. But I’d also like to let you know that at least when it comes to me (which likely means many others also) I don’t care about sponsorships or ads at all. I work a minimum wage job in my state and I support anything that anyone does to get their bag. In fact I’d encourage you to, you deserve compensation for the amazing work you do(and it is hard work). In the short time I’ve known your content I’ve been amazed at the depth and passion you put into it, it’s not comparable to any other creator that I’ve seen personally. This space that you’ve created in gaming as a woman of color also feels so special to me. Good points to discuss with this one We talk a lot about how people don’t need hurl insults for others’ dislike of media, but I think lately people are also a little too comfortable masking their opinions as fact, and telling someone they’re wrong or misinformed for having enjoyed a piece of media. We dont always need to justify ourselves or try to change opinions, sometimes we need to just let things be Also, I totally understand wanting to change your direction to make a bigger impact with less work. I think 2023 is gonna be a good year for such things and I look forward to seeing where you go next!

Even with the disagreement I shared with you once a long time ago, I can see the discussion was more than constructive enough. You value opinions but you're level-headed and quite true to your feelings which always make for a more enjoyable watch. As a smaller creator I absolutely understand how you feel about trying to meet up algorithm expectations, working hard and trying to please the audience but ending up with diminishing returns, I've been thinking for a while that I should just create content now and then when I feel like it, instead of seeing it like a job, because it sure is a super low wage job. Al I can say is that I wish you the absolute best, do follow your art passion, you might end up making a living or just being very fulfilled by it, for me KZread and bread making were just like that, now I live off the latter while also enjoying the former.
