I used think pele was overrated. Then I was blown away by seeing his performance at 1958. I have never seen any seventeen year old play that way. Now I accepted that he is the greatest. Messi is a legit GOAT candidate too. It’s a pleasure to watch Messi play. I feel very sad that pele had passed away. He was a great man & finest to play the game. Rest In Peace king ❤

Están locos , imposible compararlos las circunstancias en la época de Pelé eran distintas y más difíciles, comenzando con el balón , los árbitros sus rivales y la baja alimentación , pero el superó todo eso por algo será siempre el rey PELÉ ahora es distinto al jugador de le cuida mucho como a Messi un rozon y enseguida le regalan un penalti , antes a pele lo masacraban a patadas y los árbitros se hacían de la vista gorda los equipos contrarios se turnaban para patearlo solo así lo detenían , no habrá otro rey del fútbol le duela a quien le duela .

Definitivamente no pueden comparar a Messi con el rey Pelé , las épocas y circunstancias fueron muy diferentes mucho más difíciles fueron en esa época , comenzando con el balón , los árbitros , los equipos contrarios , hasta el público , y también los rivales dentro del mismo equipo en dónde casi todos eran estrellas , a Pelé lo curtian a patadas estando en el suelo y el árbitro hacía como que no veía y dejaba pasar en un juego cercano a un campeonato el equipo de argentina pateó a pele en el suelo y le hicieron doble fractura y estubo fuera del campeonato y no hubo castigo para nadie , no de ninguna manera se pueden comparar , ahora con Messi un rozoncito , y enseguida el árbitro le regala un penalti , está súper cuidado y con el balón cito de plástico que hasta una niña puede patear no, no no se pueden comparar , el rey es Pelé y nada más .

People say that in Pele's era football was inferior to today and that's why they rate Messi up, but nobody does ever mention the conditions of the pitches in the 50's and 60's which were a disaster! You can even see in this video how the ball bounces with every touch compared to today's incredible high standard pitches at the top of professional football. Look at Pele, despite the pitch was uneven due to the grass not being cut evenly and the ground in it itself, he still dribbles like he was playing in today's game! For me that's an incredible skill from Pele and shouldn't be ignored!

Ok Messi would play well like today with the conditions of the pitches and balls back in 50's? Pele would play well in nowadays with the today pitches? Messi would do what he do today back in 50's 60s with all markers were viollent and could cause serious injuries? Well Pele played in bad pitches but Messi gets tackled by 3 or more players even the whole team. People come up with different tactics to stop him and they analyse him but he seems to always destroy them with the same foot and dribbling style. He even plays vs ruthless and good defenders like Sergio Ramos and Virgil van dijk but he still gets past them. Both Messi and Pele are equal. Pele is better at heading, he is physically stronger etc. But Messi has better vision, passing, dribbling etc. Let's not compare them and thank God for making Messi and Pele a football player.

Both absolute greats - Almost unfair to compare. If I had to pick one than probably I would go for Pele. He seemed to have all the weapons. He scored goals without needing to dribble past a whole lot of players every time - He seemed to do it a bit easier, I would say especially the headers which seems to always be the winning play in real tight matches. Pelé was much stronger, he had an impressive running explosion, power and precision in his kicks, he kicked with both his right and left leg, he headed like nobody else, he was a technically perfect player in all the fundamentals of football. And to top it all off, he was creative all the time, he played to the fullest extent of his genius... what else to say about Pelé? There is no way to compare him with ANY other player, whether from the past or the future....

Hah, this logic is stupid. What if 17 years old Pele come back now and start his career from the beginning, with the nowdays 5 star Brasil. Cannot compare the two eras. The game has changed a lot . The teams have become much more tactical than they were before. Having said both are all time greats. and certainly the greatest of their eras.

@@souvanikmajhi2945 you can't "invent" a skill - this is something a human being is basically capable of - you can only be the first to implement it. Pretty logical that Pele did it first, just because he lived earlier 🤷‍♂️ It absolutely doesn't mean that without him other footballers wouldn't start to do the same at a certain point. It doesn't make sense to say "he did it earlier than the guys who were born half a century after him". No-one denies though that he was a genius, such kind of players appear once a couple of decades, so Messi, Pele and Maradona are in the club of their own.

Pelé é indiscutivelmente superior em aspectos sensíveis. Ele destruía o adversário em sua casa, fosse onde fosse. Não tinha final difícil, impossível! Messi está longe de ter a força mental do Rei Pelé. Tenham dó, não se trata apenas de força e habilidade. A diferença é tão absurda que determinados pontos não podem ser esquecidos. Pelé sempre jogou contra adversidades que Messi nem no sonho enfrentaria. Perseguições violentas emocionalmente desumanas, tanto no racismo como no contato físico. E nada parava o Pelé! Agora vamos ver, o Messi nunca fez nada contra a seleção brasileira em jogos oficiais. Só por aí já se vê que ele é um embalo europeu pra tentar apagar a coroa do Pelé. Pelé jogava com uniformes mais pesados, bolas mais pesadas e que encharcavam quando molhavam, contra zagueiros mais brutos, numa época que nem tinha cartão amarelo. Os gramados quase sempre eram horríveis. E mesmo assim olha o que ele fazia, e não tinha Beckenbauer que parasse! Hoje em dia, tem tecnologia no uniforme, nos treinos, na alimentação, na concentração, nas chuteiras, as bolas são mais leves e rápidas, os gramados são um tapete. Es difícil compararlos. Pele jugo en condiciones mas precarias, pero un futbol con menos estructura técnica y Messi jugo en un futbol mas cómodo, pero mas técnico. Soy argentino amo el futbol mi opinión intenta ser lo mas conveniente para el futbol, creo que es mas completo Messi , pero Pele a sido mas importante para el futbol por su cantidad de mundiales, para mi pele esta por encima de Maradona ( si Maradona no se hubiera drogado hubiese sido mejor que pele y Messi capaz) pero Messi es el mejor de la historia los números hablan por si solos, para mi hoy en dia es mas dificil destacar en el futbol y Messi lo lleva haciendo hace 15 años maso menos. It's utterly stupid to compare Pele with the rest. He didn't reinvent football alone but he was the best player of the Brazilian team that was years light ahead of anyone in the world in the 50s. Comparing Messi with Pele is like comparing Elon Musk with Tesla or Thomas Edison. What would be of Elon Musk without electricity? Messi is useless without a team and strategy behind him. Same thing Pele may not have been the greatest if he was born now with this massive evolution in strategy and defense. Messi would fail without a team around him like he failed all the previous world cups.

Incredible how since Messi won the World Cup and Copa América they don't compare him to CR7 anymore. Now they go Pelé this, Pelé that, if they had filmed everything Pelé did, if the referees and the pitches and diet and technology would have been like they are today back then.... :) :) :) Conditions have changed, but there's one thing: they still are the same for everyone: it's not as if only Messi had taken advantage of present-day conditions: everyone did . Conversely, those who played against Pele had to put up with the same limitations than him. IMO both are out of the ordinary, among a select half a dozen players who stand at a higher level than the rest, but I think no one soared as high as Messi did and still does, so consistently and for so many years, and there is a lot of data to prove it.

Eram muito diferentes. Pelé era ambidestro, era capaz de jogar só usando a perna esquerda por toda uma partida, apesar de destro. usava as duas pernas no drible, ora a esquerda ora a direita.
