Peanut Butter Sheet Cake Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Greetings! Here is a blast from the past for me! I was inspired to make this after watching a video on KZread that reminded me of the sheet cakes my mom and my ex-husband's grandmother used to make! Those were both chocolate based cakes, but this one TAKES the cake! The peanut butter cake that is!
This one is certainly for the peanut butter lovers out there! You could easily make this a peanut butter and chocolate cake by fixing chocolate frosting with peanut butter cake or vice versa. That would be an amazing taste treat!
This one is really easy and really quick. This will feed at least 16 servings and is great to take to a potluck or picnic because it will feed lots of people and is guaranteed to disappear!
If I had some honey roasted peanuts on hand, I would have scattered some all chopped up on top of this warm frosting. it would add just the right amount of crunchy goodness to this already delicious cake! This is super rich and you don't need a big piece to feel satisfied!
I hope you try this and I hope you love it!
Happy Eating!

    Hard to believe this, but when l was a kid, the most delicious peanut butter cake l've ever had to this day, used to be served at our school cafeteria. lt was perfect. The cake part was so moist and the delicate, cracking glaze on top was rich, yet somehow not too rich or too thick. Yours looks and behaves just like it, and if it's what l think it is, l'll be so happy. Only one way to find out....

I told Rick that if we ever build our own new house, we had better make sure that the builder gives it a little bit of a lean because we would never know how to live if we actually lived in a level home! The last two homes we have lived in were seriously uneven.

I trim my layer cakes flat but this recipe will be easy for me to over or undercook just because it's so unlevel and the cake so thin.

    Noreen, I live in Ecuador. We have trouble here finding the kind of Gringo (not a negative term here-it just means, someone who came from another place) foods that people were used to in their former lives. That need was my impetus to write a book ("What's Cookin,' Cuenca?") to help expats find and make the foods they miss from their former homes. YOU ARE SUCH A GODSEND! (For instance, it is impossible to find cottage cheese in Ecuador! Thanks to you, I make it every week!) I love your recipes, love your family, love the way you tell us how to do things! I just bought a slow-cooker. I had two of them in the US and NOTHING that I tried worked well in them, but your recipes--PERFECT! Thank you a zillion times!

    Aren't you sweet! Thanks so much for the kind words. So glad that you are using and enjoying what I share! Every place is so different. Having been on KZread for a while now, it has become very evident that other countries don't have everything we have here. A thought I never had before! For instance, I thought cottage cheese was something nearly every dairy consuming country would at least have an equivalent. You learn something every day! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing!

    Great recipes !! I'm a fan. However, the primary reason for sifting flour into cake batters is to incorporate Air into the mixture. If you put a bag of flour into a container, then continue to tap it down on the countertop you will lose inches of air as the flour sinks. Sifting puts it back in.

  • @anndennis7163

    @anndennis7163

    Actually sifting flour was a way for our grandmother's to remove bugs that got into or hatched in the flour. Most sifting is no longer needed now that we have freezers and the ability to buy our flour in small amounts that are used quickly.

    Baking is a science. The ingredients are the way they are for a reason. Adjusting may give you an undesired result. You could certainly try to add more peanut butter but it will most likely not turn out right. This cake is very peanut buttery. You may actually wish to try the recipe the way it is written first and then if you need it to be more flavorful then you could play with it. I think that you will find the level of peanut butter flavor will not disappoint.

    Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I am just like you. I am a mom and a wife just trying to get along day to day. I have a small house with an even smaller kitchen where everything comes together. Most people are the same. When you watch cooking shows, it's all fakey fake. Even some people here on YT try to make their videos more like a TV show. I will probably never end up on TV. That's fine with me. What is important is making sure I can inspire people like you to get in the kitchen and cook fun, delicious, comforting, healthy foods from scratch and get out of the habit of making processed things out of a box, bag, can or jar. We all have to do it sometimes, but we are facing a generation who can't won't and doesn't have a desire to cook, even the simplest of things. I hope you enjoy the peanut butter sheet cake! Have a great day!
