Greetings! I have gotten so many requests to share the white Texas sheet cake recipe that I finally decided it was time to do that.
This cake is super simple to throw together and it has ingredients that you will have on hand. You can interchange the buttermilk for sour cream if you don't have one or the other and if you have neither, just throw a couple tablespoons of lemon juice or white vinegar into a cup of milk and let it sit for 15 minutes and you have buttermilk substitute.
This frosting is delicious and smooth. It will seem as if it is too runny, but once the cake cools completely, you will see that it sets up nicely and keeps the cake ultra moist.
You will easily get 12 large portions from this cake or 24 small ones.
I hope you give this a try and I hope you love it!
Happy Eating!

There are two reasons in my estimation. The first is that it is large. The second is that in Texas they typically will serve a large sheet cake as a dessert at BBQ gatherings as well as other large get togethers. I may be totally wrong, however growing up in the southwest, these type of cakes were simply called Texas style sheet cakes. I don't questions I just enjoy them.

Noreen, I love all your videos! Whether it be a dessert (my fav.), a bread, meal, appetizer etc. I love them all. I don't understand why people feel the need to post negative comments and I'm sorry that some people have nothing better to do with their time. I look forward to the next video always.

Always sit pan on cap, where the heat escapes, to melt butter, even pyrex ones too, never buy buttermilk , always add vinegar to milk, to make my own, works best for small amount, enjoyed your video !

I prefer to use only real buttermilk from my local dairy. Thick and rich and zero substitute comes close.

My oven vent is under the rear right burner and the first time something heated up it freaked me out so much. I had never seen such a thing before lol. That cake cooks scrumptious! Don't think I've ever had Texas sheet cake of any kind.

Looks awesome. I confess, I usually resort to boxed cake mix when my kids decide that they want cake for dessert, but this is almost easier than a box. Not to mention that the last time I made one I was feeling super cheap and bought the 50 cent generic white cake, and it was basically newspaper shavings. It was so dry and tasteless. Nasty. Hold on, what do you use to filter the fluoride? I tried to make peanut butter icing the other day, but it totally separated. What am I doing wrong?

Noreen, your cakes always look so darn yummy! (just a dmall request, would you please ask your handsome hubby to not shoot the videos so close up? It has a claustrophobic feeling. Luv ya both, keep on with the great work!)

Hi Noreen! In regards to the cake batter...would you recommend doubling the vanilla extract in place of the almond extract or will the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract be sufficient for this recipe? Thanks in advance :-)
