    This is a different way to get files than I've used on gearhead-efi. Glad to know there are other options

    So I found the xdf that matches my OS but when I click on it it is not downloadable as an .xdf file its just all the lines of code...any hints? The file I'm looking at is right next to the one you click on in the video but is for a P01 OS12212156

    Hey Randy, one thing your viewers should know is that if you cant find the xdf file for your os, you can easily replace your os. On this video at time 8:41 you will see the heading "What if you can't find the one you want" Read that and you will see the solution

    I am having trouble finding a known good XDF so I was actually just reading about this. But does that mean the tune will be off? I am only trying to do a stock swap using a little LR4 but didn't want the tune to be off if I changed the OS.

    I’m using an old version of Camtasia but it works pretty good. Been watching your videos about using Tunerpro and a Bluetooth OBD2 unit for data logging, wanting to give that a try to tune my VE table soon.

    Biggest problem for me is, Hp tuners is already so complicated I personally dont need to make it anymore confusing! lol This seems like a great alternative to swapping PCMs or turning off vats though.

    That’s a fair point, and yes this is best for simple tasks like VATS and O2 sensor DTC removal. I’m going to attempt doing some data logging and VE table tuning with it but it definitely isn’t simple to use.

    I'm about 10 to 15 years late to the party. Anyone know where I can find the ADX, XDF and Bin files needed to tune a stock 92 Z28 5.7L L98 TPI? I know most people are tuning LS applications but I wanted to play around with this old dinosaur first. I've downloaded Tunerpro RT and I bought an ALDL cable, but I cant find the files for this old tuned port engine. Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    I don’t have any personal experience with those older engines but I would join and ask on the pcmhacking.net forum and gearhead-efi.com forums if you haven’t already, there may be someone on there that would have the files you need. Good luck!

    Should you use a dedicated laptop for this process or does it need a lot of space?

    The programs and files take so little space I didn't even notice the download sizes. Collect 'em all and go for it. The groups who use them are useful so get familiar by searching.

  • @LowbuckLS

    @LowbuckLS

    No unfortunately PCM Hammer only works on GM Gen 3 LS stuff. TunerPro may be able to be used on a Ford but you’d need a different program to get the bin file out of the computer. I have no experience with TunerPro on Fords personally though.

    @@LowbuckLS Ok thanks for the update. I did ask OpenAI and this the response I got: "PCM Hammer is another tuning software that can be used to tune the factory PCM on a 2005 Ford Expedition. It's a free and open-source software that allows for custom tuning of the factory PCM and includes features such as data logging, real-time tuning, and checksum correction. One advantage of PCM Hammer is its user-friendly interface, which can make it easier for beginners to get started with tuning. However, it may not have as many advanced features as some of the paid tuning software options, and the level of support and updates may be more limited."

    @@DelFam2011 I’m always amazed at how good of a story AI can produce. But it’s like a politician, what’s coming out sounds good but a lot of what they’re saying is BS. Plenty of errors in that answer you got.

    Hi, Randy - Do you know of an app out there that can verify/validate a .bin file? Someone sent me a .bin for for my ECU but I am afraid to use it to flash my ECU with it -

    There's no easy way of doing this, and it is a valid concern with any bin file that you don't know the origin of. I have downloaded several files from various online repositories that weren't from the vehicle they were labelled as. The way I do it is to download several bin files of that make/model if possible and compare them. If you can't find other bin files, you can look for hpt files in the HP Tuners repository to compare. You can download the HP Tuners VCM Suite software for free and view files from their repository. Then I look at the main tables like fuel injector size, VE table, timing table etc and compare. If 2 or 3 files agree, then it's probably correct. Just today, I downloaded a bin file for a 2003 Corvette from the Gearhead EFI forum. I couldn't find any other 03 Vette bin files online, but did find some in the HP Tuners repository. After comparing with 2 or 3 other 03 Vette files I am confident the file I have is from an 03 Vette.
