Yo I have a question. Does the display port to hdmi will give me the 120hz for my ps5. I’m trying to save my monitor so I won’t have to return it and get that 120hz for my ps5. It also runs at 165hz.

I don't get it bro all I see is a normal hdmi what do we do bc I have a 120hz monitor and in my settings it says I support 144 so I think I can get 144 I just don't know how or which cable I need

But if I use display cord to display cord I can’t because my pc doesn’t have a display port hookup.

Can someone educate me, Bought lenovo 165hz Gsync monitor comes with displayport cable. Im using IGPU r3 3200g with Asus tuf b450 pro ii(with display-port port on the motherboard) Whenever I connect the DP cable, It doesnt show any display, monitor just goes power-saving mode. However, when i plug hdmi cable, it has a display, I could only increase it up to 75hz, BUT 120,144,165 hz on windows settings are in the options but whenever I choose it, the screen goes blank for few seconds and basically just returns back to 75hz

i can't for say for sure but i've even heard ppl hosing dvi to reach 144 hz. . im not sure about 165hz. u should be able to check against your laptop's display specs which u need to recharge 165hz..its always in the specs

Yeah that’s what I was saying. You have to scroll all the way down to the recommended display resolution instead of the monitor display resolution

brand won't matter so long as u have a cable that will support that resolution such as 2.0 or 2.1

right click desktop goto display settings here u see display resolution then scroll down u see advanced display settings click on it u will see refresh rate select your desired

that can work too... some ppl have even used dvi to hdmi and still getting the 165hz etc..sometime it's a matter of trial and error .. but wenever u buy a cable..always ensure ur buying a cable that will support what u want that's the key here ..for eg. don't get a cable that says Max reso 4k at 60hz wen u want higher like 144 etc

u need to check which of your ports support the highest Hz usually ita dp .. if ur laptop only has hdmi uight need an adapter which goes from hdmi to dp... it is possible to get a dp to hdmi but it must support the hz tou need... u gotta check both your laptop and monitor specs so u know what. able to use... usually hi 2.0 will support 120hz to 144hz ... its the version of hdmi that matters however wen its a dp port that supports the highest hz

you were using motherboard's dp1.4 or dedicated graphics card's dp1.4 as source ?

u need to check if your cable supports that high 165hz and if your gpu can support that high fps too

My gpu only has dvi and hdmi port, but the monitor samsung g5 34 has 165hz,however still stuck at 100hz in settings,do u think a dp 1.4 to hdmi ori an adapter would able to fix the hz problem? thx a lot

So all you did was switch from hdmi 2.1 to display port and it solved the issue? Because I use a hdmi 2.1 and I’m having a similar issue with not being able to switch to the monitors refresh rate of 144. Do you think I should just get a display port cable

u need an adapter that allows hdmi 2.0 to dp 1.4 ... that way it is still able to produce the 140hz for your monitor..there's also another type of adapter that's available it has a hdmi to dp adapter with a usb cable for power.. it powers the adapter ... and u use dp to dp for maximum Hz

u might need a dp cable ..u need to look at your monitor specs and it will tell u what cables produce what Hz... most of the time it's dp that hits the highest Hz

My monitor can go to 144hz but I have to cap it at 60hz because of screen tearing what wire can help with that

if ur getting screen tearing it's usually due to the gpu fps not syncing to monitor refresh rate .. so ur settings are the cause..did u try enabling vsync or which ever it is for your monitor..sometimes called freelance g sync etc ... u wanna match the fps and Hz and refresh rate ..so no tearing happens... hope I makes sense

how many fps do u get with your setup? use hdmi 2.0 cable and its should bump u up to what's possible according to your monitor.. remember if u only have a 60hz monitor u can't get 120 + Hz... u must have capable hardware

I get low 120, avg 140, max 170 fps on league of legends with everything on max. Warframe around 80 fps with everything on max and in cs:go about the same as with league, with everything almost on max

must be a setting because if your monitor is 165 and your hardware can reach same fps..u should be able to get there no issues... u using dp to dp?

not all hdmi to dp work the same make sure toir cabke can support your 100hz and so 120 to 144jz is good too.. of u want 1080p at 100hz make sure the specs of the cable are capable of displaying that.. alot of cables to choose from silkland is good

so displayport is for pc to monitor while hdmi is for gpu to monitor!

no... either just depends what ur pc uses ut pc can have x1 hdmi and x3 dp ur monitor can have x1 hdmi a d x1 dp it just depends on what ports u have on ur gpu and on ur monitor then u just choose the appropriate cable for that scenario dp is a newer version of display ... I think dp is better ..but its personal preference too

I have a koorui 27inch monitor with two hdmi ports 1.4 and 2.0 and a DisplayPort 1.2 I plugged in my ps5 hdmi to the 2.0 hdmi port but it says I only can get 1440p with 60hz or 1080p with 120hz I believe I can only get 1440p with 120hz if I use the DisplayPort, so I recently got a DisplayPort 1.4 to hdmi 2.1 by cable matters and I plugged it in and nothing would show up in my monitor do you know why and what I can do or what kind of adapter I should try next?🎉

if u don't know the specs of your monitor .. its hard to say..what u can do is Google your actual monitor and model number and find the specs ..if it says 120hz Max on hdmi or dp then that's all u can get.. just using a dp won't give u higher... that's why knowing your specs is most important

if this has happened , you need to ensure thaat the hdmi is a higher grade , usually a hdmi will only be the standard version like hdmi 1.0 , you need to read the specs of the cable, does it allow for 144hz? and the dp side should be fine however always double check that the cable can actually allow for 144hz , and ensure the length does not affect the output, sometimes using over 3m will affect the resolution output and the hz

have u checked the specs of the mobo output for hdmi n dp? usually dp offer more rather then hdmi... and honestly i now just go direct dp and don't even bother with hdmi anymore as dp always offers more hz..whata ur mobo? and cpu?

@mrnoone3622 of u can search ur laptop specs and see which port produces higher Hz.. most monitors tell u what specs the ports cab produce ... so u goto specs and it should say something like type c 1440p@120hz etc ... I think type c and hdmi are the same ..but type c might be higher..really depends on your laptop port

that's strange it should just work... maybe faulty port .. have u tried other ports.. maybe try a dp to hdmi see how that goes.. or just get hdmi 2.0 or 2.1 cable, and it will go 165hz

hdmi should reach 165 to 240hz u need to google your monitor specs ..check which ports outputs more Hz...and use the cable according to whichever your trying to achieve..usually dp is alot easier to get the higher Hz... I've seen this on so many monitors

2.0 is 1080p@240, 1440p@120, and 2060p@60. 2060p is 4k, 1440p is 2k

to a certain extent .. your monitor has a set response time and Hz... u basically choose your Hz according to what fps you system can produce u try and match these 2. this will give you the best performance and response time .. having said that..a better cable will give u better results overall with resolution.. and Hz.. although your pc should match your Hz in fps performance

@@imohbalu dp is the future of connections... it's basically the newer version of hdmi so u can't go wrong with dp... hence why dp cane out after hdmi and why all new gpus use more dp then hdmi... but having said that hdmi can be just as good. . So long as it's the newer versions like 2.1 ... hope this helps

if u check your monitor pecs it will tell u wht u need to get the highest hz. usually its dp ..gt yourself a display port able and im sure u will reach your desired hz. but refer to your user manual it's always specified in it

@@abnerjordao yes because certain monitors will only go to the highest hz with a display port cable , , for example my monitor will only goto 165 if i use the DP cable but if i use hdmi then it will only reach 120hz..do u have DP on your monitor??

if it's hdmi... u need to use hdmi 2.1 adapter that goes to dp that reaches 240hz... wen u look for a hdmi adapter look at the apecs...its important it states it can reach 240hz

if ur monitor can output 165hz, then yes with the right cables u will get it..alot of ppl are misreading what I mean... if your monitor can only output 144hz Max..u won't get more ... cuz its your Max resolution ...

just go straight display port 1.4.. dp is better then hdmi in my opinion Along with support for 5K resolutions at up to 60Hz, and 4K resolution at up to 120Hz, DisplayPort 1.4 can handle 240Hz on both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. That offers high-speed gaming at high detail like almost no other connection type out there. So, does DisplayPort support 240Hz? Absolutely...but to answer ur question it should work..but why not just go dp to dp 1.4 ur guaranteed fast and high speed

if your monitor and cable can support 144hz at 1080 or 1440p then yes get a better cable like hdmi 2.0 or 2.1.. I strongly recommend dp. 1.4 ... affordable and will get u the higher Hz

most important is the spec of your monitor.can ur monitor output the hz ur looking for ..usually hdmi to dp will help but all monitors will give u a spec and dp will always be higher then hdmi

not too sure about 240hz my friend..but I would assume the best possible cable which would be hdmi 2.1 or dp 2.0 will be right.. but always follow your monitors guide ..it's usually the dp cable that produces the better Hz

really how come all these ppl are saying there's a huge advantage in playing with higher fps ... etc.. I only did this video because I fella bought a pc off me and was complaining he couldn't get past 120 fps... he used hdmi amd bought another hdmi but still stuck at 120fps... then wen he finally got a hdmi 2.0 and a dp 1.4 he finally got 144hz which was the Max of his monitor... alot of ppl complain about not being able to reach their monitors Max fps ... personally I don't mind just nice graphics ..I. not a big gamer 😎...just wanted to share my experience with this situation with ppl

u can use an adapter but not all adapters work... u gotta find the one that works... I had a dp to hdmi and it didn't work until I used dp to dp..however there is a hdmi to dp adapter that can be used ... I gotta find out which it is

what u Need to do is get a hdmi adapter that goes from hdmi 2.0 to dp 1.4 and u will get it..or use a hdmi to dp..but check the specs ensure the hdmi side of the. able supports q70hz in 1080p or 2k whichever ur trying to play in... as I stated cables all have a spec ... its important to check these and not just buy any

hi buddy ..yes u can u can even get dvi to dp ... so long as the cable our using is hdmi 2.0 or 2.1 to dp minimum 1.4 u will be good..I've had another subscriber tell me it worked with dvi to hdmi 2.1

u have a 1060 6gb? as long as upr playing 1080p I might reach the fps.. but if ur fps isn't hitting 144 at least then ur gpu isn't powerful enough to use 165hlz u wsnna try match 165hz or close to it ... use hdmi 2.1 or dp 1.4 it will allow u to use full potential of your monitor ...but be aware ur gpu might not reach it due to resolution

ur monitor has to be capable of producing the amount of Hz... just using a better cable won't automatically give u higher refresh rate
