PBY Catalina demo at Vintage Aircraft Weekend, Paine Field KPAE Everett, WA. Cool old Catalina does a noisy takeoff and nice water dump for the crowd. Apparently this aircraft has Wright R2600 engines, which would account for the awesome sound. I got bumped into a couple times, especially during the takeoff, so sorry about that. If only there were a way to add the smell of the smoky exhaust at start up to the video somehow...

My Dad flew these in the 60's for a company called Transair. His aircraft REG was CF-IEE I'm told she flew for CPA after the war and was converted in the 60's for water bombing in Northern Canada.
My Dad rode in one of these back in 1951 while in civilian service for the US Navy. He traveled from Okinawa to the Navy base in Yokusuka. The plane was named Honey Bucket #2. He made the mistake of asking the pilot what happened to Honey Bucket #1, which unknown to my dad had crashed some weeks before on the same trip killing everyone on board. Needless to say the answer dad got from the pilot was short, nasty and to the point. Dad wisely kept his mouth shut the rest of the trip.
My older brother flew a PBY for Cousteau.
That's the PBY-6 that lives at Arlington airport.
En chile tenemos uno de estos y no lo toman en cuenta, mientras tanto las casas de la gente humilde se siguen quemando en los incendios forestales
