    Actually, as the patch notes say, we changed how the lab door works, because it feels unfair to have a perfectly good stealth run be thwarted by a door being opened :) So we have no plans of fixing this, unless you guys really really want us to for some reason.

    Hey Alexander! It's very nice to get a confirmation on this from someone at OVERKILL, thank you very much! Many comments have been wondering whether this was an intended change or not, and now I can confirm to them that the change is indeed here to stay! I agree with your reasoning, so personally I welcome the change - I'm sure more heisters will enjoy the heist because of this! The thing with the patch notes, and it's just a very minor detail, is that we were all quite confused because the patch notes state: _"Fixed an issue on Big Oil day 2 where the Guards _*_would not get alerted_*_ when the basement door was opened."_ while the issue that was fixed was actually the fact that guards *WOULD* get alerted upon spotting the open lab door, so I think it would've been a bit more clear if the patch notes said: _"Fixed an issue on Big Oil day 2 where the Guards _*_would get alerted_*_ when the basement door was opened."_ Very tiny detail, but the wording was a bit confusing and I couldn't be sure of what the intended behavior was! So once again, thank you very much for the confirmation, much appreciated! And thank you for watching of course! 💗

    @@Marcmb Ah I see, yes that does sound like a misunderstanding on the part of the patch note writer then, sorry. Funny thing, I believe I learned of this issue through a GeneralMcbadass video about the level some time ago, so we discussed it internally and decided to update it :) I wasn't aware that the level goes loud when the helicopter comes in though, or I'd probably bring that up too, since it's the same principle really. That is a pretty big design overhaul though. If you have other weird "bugs" anywhere, let me know :)

  • @Marcmb

    @@alexmorath No worries! It was indeed just a tiny detail that caused a small misunderstanding, so with your clarification here, now everything's fine! I can definitely see how you would first spot this behavior in a GeneralMcBadass video, because this behavior has been in the game for so long, that even his old videos will show it! In fact, this behavior being so "old" added even more to the confusion, because we didn't know if it had been an issue all along, or an intended mechanic :D The helicopter forcing the alarm is indeed very similar, although that situation is much closer to the end of the heist, so the community has adapted by valuing the airplane keys a lot (for the faster escape), or bringing a combination of loud and stealth heisters, to deal with the last phase. So seeing that it would be much more work (compared to the door fix) and also that the community usually has ways to deal with it, definitely consider keeping these things in mind if you discuss it internally! I'll definitely let you know if I find some other things that look like bugs or unclear behavior. Thank you very much once again! :D

  • @alexmorath

    @@Marcmb The door being detectable was indeed intended behavior back when the level was made, but in 2020, it's just archaic and unfair in my opinion. On a technical level, the helicopter forcing the level to go loud should be fairly straight forward to change but there are other aspects to consider, for example achievements and level intention on a grander scale. Bigger changes like this tend to snowball and just create more headaches. It's not how we would make levels today though, I can say that much :) I can't make any promises hehe.

  • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@alexmorath Interesting! It's cool to hear how the methodology and philosophy for level design changes over time. Now that you mention it, there is indeed an achievement for making Bile sound the alarm when he arrives with the helicopter, so that may be hard to deal with from a technical point! I see how there could be many consequences and possible snowball effects that get out of control if attempting this change, so I won't be holding my breath for this one! However, the helicopter is more fair than the door (after all, it is a loud and unexpected helicopter, combined with a rather very visible flare), so if it's too complicated to change, don't feel bad about it! :D Plus, I'm sure there's a few players out there who are also fans of the risky, spicy ending :D Even if it does catch new heisters off-guard! Hahaha

    If im not mistaken, the engines are always the same pattern at the same place, so for example, the engine number 9 will always be deuterium, 3h and below 400 bars, and it's the same thing for every one of them so just by knowing the 3 factors you can figure out which one it is without taking the time to look at the can, the nozzles and the pressure, you can find online descriptions of which engine has what stats, and even a table for it.

  • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Roberto! You are absolutely correct: the distribution of the 12 engines on the 12 tables is always exactly the same, and the properties of each engine are also the exact same. For this reason, we can guarantee things like "all engines in the room on the left have 3 nozzles; while all engines in the room on the right have 1 or 2". However, there's a chance that the intel about the engine will spawn in the lab, so at that point it's better to check the engines yourself, rather than looking for an outside list. Not only that, but even if the intel was found outside of the lab, it doesn't take that long to look at the engines and find the right one every time (you're waiting for the helicopter anyway), and having to alt-tab to external lists takes you out of the heist slightly... This is of course just my personal opinion, and my playstyle because I enjoy the "puzzle"! But your statements are correct, and thus if the opportunity arises you can check a list of properties for the 12 engines and figure out which is the right engine before going down to the lab :)

    Hey DrBaker, that's a good idea too! I assume it helps with the process of elimination -- if you bag up the engines that are wrong (as soon as you are sure that they are wrong), there are less distractions while looking for the right engine. Just make sure you don't make any mistakes, because if you bag up the right engine by mistake, you won't be able to visually see how many connections it had, or its pressure, or the color of its gas can!

  • @Marcmb

    Woah, that's indeed very strange! There's only one engine with 1H + Deuterium, and it has pressure of more than 400... there's also only one 2H + Deuterium, and that indeed matches that pressure should be less than 400. This sounds like a bug displaying the wrong hint on the clipboard: there are some visual bugs in the latest patch, like Camera Access showing up even when you don't buy the asset, the code manual disappearing in San Martín, or the security keys in San Martín being impossible to pick up... If you can reproduce the bug, definitely report it to Overkill! If it doesn't seem to be reproducible, I guess it's either a very rare bug, or maybe whoever read the hint on the clipboard misread it, which caused this confusion!

    Hey Avatar, that's awesome! I'm happy to hear that the video is already helping some heisters :) 11 minutes for DAY 2 is indeed very good, so well done! Although tracking time in that heist is a bit weird, because if you get lucky with the helicopter timings he will only waste 2m50s of your time, while if you're unlucky he can waste up to 5m10s! So quite a big difference, making it hard to say how good a run is, but 11 minutes is definitely very nice!

    Great Video! I've done Big Oil way too many times and I wanted to see if you got everything. You were very thorough; I even learned that cold fusion research guaranteed 3h and deter. I thought it was only for deter. I also look through the closed shutters on the far side differently for the server room, but whatever works. Only nitpick I have is not saying what shutter codes are used for. I know they're practically useless but It can be useful if you're trying to hide a body upstairs by the window. Guards might get alerted if they aren't closed. Anyways, I look forward to more great videos :)

  • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    Hey Sinigh! Thanks a lot for the very nice feedback, glad you found the guide to be thorough in most aspects :) As you point out, if you want to hide body bags in the server room, closing the shutters is very important for safety... I definitely should've mentioned that, to make the guide more complete, but I was trying to show that the shutter codes are generally useless (even though they are often considered very important), so I forgot to talk more about them! But then again, that can only be done if you got the codes, so I guess hiding the bodies in the safe location I mentioned (which doesn't require shutter codes) is a more general solution! Overall, glad you enjoyed the guide, and happy to know that you're looking forward to more, thank you very much! :)

You're the first viewer to request Big Bank, so let me ask exactly what you would like to see! Are you looking for solo tips for Big Bank, or are you okay with duo tips for Big Bank? But of course, if you would prefer seeing solo tips, I can do that too, or both in the same video!

It also includes other on-screen numbers such as: FPS meter, IRL clock, levels right next to player names, and some numbers for each player which are "Kills | Jokered enemies | Current downs | Maximum downs (before custody)". The mod is very customizable and everything can be toggled on and off, depending on what you want! As for the latter, _Additional PocoHud trackers,_ I mainly use it for the 3.5s countdown before Sixth sense triggers, but it will also show you trackers for all kinds of things (any skill which has a duration or cooldown). • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey duckce! There's always one notebook and one clipboard yes, every single time! The list of spawns (7:43 in the video) is complete so if you check all of them you'll find both for sure! However, as you say in your main comment, it is possible to find the right engine without all the clues, because by comparing with the available engines you may be able to find the right one by process of elimination, even if you don't know all its details.

  • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ducksi1 However, regarding your subcomment (I'm replying to this one separately to avoid confusion), the whiteboard I show at 18:55 can ONLY be used when you have the "Cold fusion research" asset -- otherwise you cannot assume that Deuterium will mean you have 3H, because it may be 2H or 1H if it's not locked by that asset. As for the other whiteboard, the CASID one, I just want to let you know that it's purely fluff! The whiteboard always reads: _"Reminder: CAS ID: 1333-740 equals Hydrogen! H"_ Which is simply fluff because the CAS ID (Chemical Abstracts Service ID) for Hydrogen (H) in the real, actual database, is literally 1333-74-0, so the whiteboard is just some useless information to add to the atmosphere of the lab, not related to the correct engine!

    The number of ways this heist is designed to "Go Loud Anyway" makes it feel pretty janky (but then, isn't that just the way with Payday 2). I kinda prefer it with the AI broken to not realize the lab door is open.

  • @Marcmb

    @Marcmb

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Allan Grey! I also find it way more relaxing to play the heist with the lab door being undetectable: now I don't have to worry about leaving the lab door unattended while going to the airfield/pool for the flare objective, which is a big difference. Most situations can be controlled when you're right there in front of the lab door, but if it happens while you're gone it can feel a bit unfair :p

    Hey FoxVoid! That's the Locomotive 12G, a very useful stealth shotgun. It's a beautiful weapon that changes a lot (from a first person PoV) depending on what mods you use. If you want to reproduce this exact look, here's the list of mods I use for this weapon (which is probably the most common set of mods for a stealth Loco): · BARREL EXT: The Silent Killer Supressor. · GADGET: LED Combo. (if you don't have enough concealment, you can switch this one for a Compact Laser Module -- or just remove the gadget) · GRIP: Straight Grip. · MAGAZINE: Extended Magazine. · STOCK: Tactical Shorty Stock. Everything else is empty (except for boost and ammunition, which have no effect on the appearance. I use Team Boost and 000 Buckshot). Also, my weapon skin is the new "Crypto" color that you can get from the LockeBreacher puzzle -- the settings I chose for the color are Paint Scheme: Inverted; Wear: Mint-Condition; Pattern Scale: Medium!

I definitely agree that doing the puzzle yourself (rather than using the calculator) is a lot more fun, and doesn't cut the "flow" of the heist, so it feels more natural! I'm happy to see that is your opinion about the puzzle, and also that the guide helped you with the part about server rooms and closed shutters! Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

    I have done the heist both loud and stealthy with others, but after watching this video I am going to try solo it. I have just done solo Golden grin casino DSOD after watching your video on that one, had no issue at all except bumped into a civvie when running jump crotch on my first run. I think heist like the Casino and Big Oil really requires the player to understand the objectives and where/what to look for. In my opinion, Border Crossing could also fall in this category. But the Breakfast in Tijuana heist is very easy, objectives will be marked after sometime if u haven't come near it, guards are scarce and their route is avoidable(though there seems to have some route changing mechanism, such as guards go between the floors,which I haven't seen but is reported by other players, opening certain doors makes guard walk into more area.) I tried it without looking for any guide, and managed to finish it on DSOD. I think it's a fun little map, the main objectives are easy to accomplish, the securing of additional loot can be challenging if u want to stealth it but with unlucky loot room location. and the last part of the map has a tricky situation where the player can carry light loot and run across, but can be quickly detected when carrying heavy loot. The preplanning of the heist doesn't offer much stealth help unless u want body bags for cleaing civvies or make the front gate guard goes to sleep so the alarm can be disabled right from the start quickly and safely.

    Hey Linzhi! Good job on completing Golden Grin DSOD solo, well done! Glad that the video helped you :) I agree that Border Crossing is similar to these two heists in that aspect: there's no direct help from the game telling you where to go at each point... Breakfast in Tijuana is very different because it always tells you where to go for each step (if you're taking too long to find it), so in that aspect it's a bit too easy. I hadn't thought about this, but it's definitely very good feedback that I'll keep in mind when deciding the next heist for my "stealth tips" videos, thank you!

    Unfortunately I am terrible at day 1, yes... still... Something I found that worked for me on Day 1, that made my super safe run a bit easier, was when you stand up in the garage, look where the badguys are, if any of them are looking out the window, and you think they might spot you as you make your way up, fire close to them to make them crouch- that way they're just looking out the window, oblivious... until they die. I can't remember if I saw it in the video, but on DS+OD there are 3 roaming guards outside, 3 roaming guards inside (they occasionally go outside to go the garage), and 9 stationary inside. They don't always spawn in the same positions, though. The garage can have 0-2, so you might go there and it's empty, or you may find 2 and some of the roaming ones hanging out. My max i've seen at one time is 4. There are a few "parking spots" inside, and (at least?) one just outside the garage door. If you want to play it safe, you can kill the outside roamers first, then jump inside and kill the two in the garage, and just wait for the 3 inside roamers to come to you. All in all that takes 15 down to 7 that you need to worry about. Of course, if you're good and fast enough (I.e. not me), you can just forego it all and rush it, like you do. Just some tips from a noob.

  • @Marcmb

    Hey there Stefan! For this one, I always feel that a bit more speed (more reacting and less planning) always makes it easier, especially because you can easily take everyone down during the 78s of PCMs + ECMs, while prioritizing the intel. Quickly killing every enemy you see without thinking _too much_ makes it less likely that a roamer will walk in and spot the mess, which lowers the difficulty! But in any case, it's nice to see such a methodical analysis of DAY1 :D I never looked into the numbers for the reasons mentioned above. Your strategy definitely makes sense! Slow and steady :D

    @@danielchristie2519 Aw, that's a shame that it happened so fast! Usually you get a bit more than 30s, so that's very unfortunate. In my opinion, it's decent that they add some kind of realism to different heists, with guards becoming alerted if they notice something has been opened, even though it should always be closed. It would be nice if it was more consistent across all heists, so that players would know what to expect. It's unfair when it happens for the first time, but now that you know about it: it's basically a solo challenge that forces you to open the vault _last,_ and be ready to move the 4 bags quickly, ECM rushing if needed if a guard spots the open vault. Or, if you still have pagers left, you can kill them if they spot the vault!

Basically, if you secure too many wrong engines (meaning that Bile will need to keep making helicopter trips back and forth), at some point he will need to pause for a bit to refuel, which increases the timer until he comes back. If you buy him extra helicopter fuel, this isn't going to happen - so definitely buy it if you're going for Dr. Miserable (which requires securing 12 engines), but ignore it otherwise!
