Pay 90% Less HQM Upkeep With This Trick in Rust!

Ойындар

Decay and regeneration mechanics have a significant loop hole. You can use this to avoid paying a ton of high quality metal upkeep with barely any downside. It takes a simple circuit and just a few minutes to set up.

    In testing I was able to upkeep a 27 HQM upkeep base with 1 HQM every 4 hours (6 HQM per day), but I'm not sure how upkeep works when upkeep ticks becomes fractions so your results may vary. What I often ran into when trying to keep the HQM upkeep as low as possible was some ticks were only partially upkept, so a few building blocks would keep decaying and wouldn't regen off all the damage as a result. Keep an eye out for this!

    after implementing this on a big base this wipe i noticed one thing. ceiling/floor triangles sometimes decay even though they are inside. I suspect it is connected to the triangle splash bug somehow. But I had HQM ceilings decay that had full cover be honeycomb above. You can fix it by making the triangle attach to a different orientation of part of the base. I tested it by removing all wood from my TC left it as twig and see how quickly it decays.

    You can build 2x2 for 15/16 HQM, if you only use full height triangle foundations (you can pull them up), 2 roofs with a pixel gap and floors. And 1x2 or a triangle air lock. But you need a flat place. This trick is difficult to pull in woods.

    Adapted slightly. Adjusted ratios for shorter loop times to match the smallest amount, usually HQM, but I also incorporate metal frags into it. But you can also save 1/2 or less on the shell upkeep as well, as in my case, stone. The only catch for the shell is you need a very short loop or you get a high range of damage/healing on it. You can get around this by getting a 2nd circuit loop dedicated to the shell of the base, such as 20 minute loop. Just ensure you put slightly more than 1/2 its upkeep, I usually aim for 2/3 to be safe. If you have a mixed shell (metal/stone) then incorporate the metal into the short loop as well. So you can save 90% on the internal walls, but also 1/3 to 1/2 of upkeep on the shell of the base.

  • @drakcoreoriginal

    @drakcoreoriginal

    Ай бұрын

    Also do remember, if some does attack your base and you have min/maxed the saving on the upkeep, you will need to dump resources into the TC or else it will sit on the same health it was damaged to. You can also just use the power passthrough on the industrial conveyor to connect to the long period timer toggle on. This prevents the loop from failing if there was resources already in the TC, as it currently relies on the filter pass output to trigger on resource transfer. Final tip - You can put a blocker before each circuit connected to another battery, all batteries are hooked to a generator, if the batteries running the circuits run out of power it will set the generator to kick in.

    Are building blocks covered by door/wall frames or windows considered inside, and if so, does that include all their inserts such as garage doors, embrasures, or chain link fence? An extreme scenario I'm really curious about is if it still applies when a door or window insert is destoryed but the walls, floor and ceiling in that room are still intact.

    I think it would be cheaper if you put a tc into triangle high quality and only feed it via tube. So even if players managed to get into your lootroom, they will still have to destroy a high quality metal wall to get to your tc. Also any server restart will fuck up the timers in the game and if you play on a server that restarts a lot, its not worth doing this.

    @@sigbog I tested it this wipe 09.06.2024, and from my testing i noticed the following: Decay rate is the same on al HQM walls, however the healing rate is not the same. Some walls get healed up at 100%, while other walls don't get healed at all. I've even increased the amount to 4% per 4h, still the same. Will try putting even more.
