Lucid is a very small team! I did some art for its map :) love seeing it shouted out here. And hey mock all you want but the “celestoidvania” does paint a quick picture haha. Glad yall enjoyed the game!

The team has done a wonderful job (yourself included)! You should be really proud :) And you're right, my personal hangups aside, "Celestoidvania" painted a picture that matched with the gameplay, so it's extremely apt.

Hearing Jesse's frustration about people not reading tutorials makes me feel so seen lol. I remember playtesting my senior project game and NO ONE read our tutorials. To the point where we had to consider how to teach the player if they didn't read the tutorial text

I was in Japan for a month about 15 years ago; listening to Frank it brings back so many memories, I absolutely get where he's at. I went all over the country though, he should do that if he has the money next time.

Looking forward to more Fat Sessions with Jeremy - it was my first view of HoM&M3 which I finally understood after only ever seeing screenshots. Goeman is a chill watch and I'd look forward to it! Thanks team, and best wishes to Danny!

The one Pawn I did use briefly on my playthrough was the one Maximilian Dood did. Mostly because the first Dragon's Dogma was his first lets play back when he mostly focused on fighting games on his channel. So it was kinda bit of a nostalgia trip for me having his avtar adventure for me for a while until I had to dismiss him for a higher level pawn. Also sending good vibes and prayers Danny's way, had no idea he was having health trouble. 📿🙏

When you got talk of a "renaissance" in games, it implies that we've been in some sort dark ages where there are no indie games like being made. Maybe that would more signicant if all the major publisher all simultaneously collapsed like old trees in a forest, and allowed those Indies to grow on the forest floor. Otherwise, that whole scene has been there this whole time anyway. You just have to look for it. I think the question could do with better phrasing.

Speaking of MTX, the problem is that even for cosmetics, they impact the game design negatively.

that reminds me of Mercedes Benz in Mario Kart. Hurts no one, but just cheapens the whole experience/brand. At least in Dragon's Dogma, there's no in-game store (that I've seen). It's all sold as Steam DLC. If you're actually playing the game, MTX might as well not even be in the game (at least on PC)

How do they impact the design of the game?

That's the kind of content that was initially part of a game, having cosmetics to unlock or obtain as part of the gameplay. If your game has MTX for cosmetics, then you will remove all of those that were here for free, and make us pay for it. Forcing the player to feel bland so it justifies buying the non gameplay MTX. Gameplay or not, why should we accept that games are made worse if we don't pay extra MTX? When they were planned like that from the start. There was a time when this content was just part of the game's experience, nowadays it's almost non existent.@@R17759

I'm 100% with Jeremy on the microtransactions and conceding cosmetics to fight on a different hill but I also hate all of it. If I have to spend 1 second on contemplating if the microtransactions are exploitative, or useless, or whatever, that's too much time. Frank is saying they aren't core to the game and that's not as bad but I still hate that! If they are core to the game they're screwing you if you don't buy them but if their not core to the game then that means they're mostly trying to get you to buy something useless! I don't know why people are okay with that. People buying stuff because they don't know any better or because they want to skip playing the game are atrocious precedents that's already been set but it will still effect what I'll buy. Those microtransactions wouldn't stop me from playing the game but the fact that it's always online presumably to facilitate the microtransactions and the bad performance issues are enough to keep me away from it for now. Such a bummer as I loved the first game and was pretty excited for this one. Glad to hear the gameplay hasn't lost its charm though. On a different note I've been playing Morrowind as an MMO on a public TES3MP server since the fat session and it's so good! People should join Nerevarine Prophecies and play that instead! I can help with gear if you hit me up on their discord.

What does it matter if other people want to buy time saver things? It’s a single player game so nobody else’s experience will be affected. Nobody “likes” microtransactions but they are almost always easy to ignore.
