Pretty sure that guy that was the expert was David goldberg a winner of forged in fire
The pulwar is a munitions grade version wielded by regular warriors, there is nothing special about it (I own a similar one). The seller got paid too much (you could get a similar pulwar from ebay for as low as 150 USD inclusive of posting and then clean the rust off). It would be valuable if the blade was made of rare Persian wootz steel or intricate pattern welded steel but it doesn't seem to be so (as shown after restoration). It would also be valuable if the hilt had gold or silver inlay, intricate chiseling or latticework or if the pommel was of the rarer turban-shape. An intact scabbard would also push the price up. The 1,500 USD restoration cost is totally absurd and it ruined the sword - the restorer added or cut deeper grooves into the hilt grip and added a new tang button all of which are in poor taste and deceptive (it is also possible the original hilt has been replaced with a different one making this a 'married' sword). Moreover it has been overly cleaned making it look entirely new, with all "the great history" (in the words of Rick) obliterated or altered. Serious or advanced antique sword collectors would stay away from this sword as it is a 'jazzed up' sword and only a fool would buy this for more than 300 USD at most. The most expensive Afghan pulwars are those with blades made by Assad Allah of Isfahan (a renowned 17th century master sword smith from Persia) and they usually sell in the 2,000 - 3,000 USD range (much more if sold by Christie's or Bonham's which could go as high as 5,000 USD depending on quality) especially if they have provenance, e.g. belonged to a known Afghan historical figure like Ayub Khan or used in a famous event like the destruction of General Elphinstone's army in Kabul. They would have a gold cartouche on the base of the blade which is a signature of the maker. The 5,000 USD price tag is sheer delusional as the blade is not an Assad Allah blade (no cartouche) or even a wootz blade (no watered pattern visible). Rick totally got suckered on this one by the expert he consulted (especially if he indeed paid 1,500 USD in restoration cost).

At what point does a restoration turn into a completely new product ?
@Trapster99
4 жыл бұрын
When the restorer adds a significant amount to the item or takes away something important from the item. This restoration did neither. It only brought the sword back to what it would have looked like newly created.

Good choice on the hat Rick, I’ve got a lighted beanie hat with the same color plaid pattern, and at 60 years old, I enjoy it a lot!
I would definitely have a couple beers with Spence. Story time!
"I like thet hat"... LOOOOOL
The first pawn stars repost of 2020
The title is very misleading, it says Moorish Pulwar sword, the sword is a Pulwar from Afghanistan, used by the Pashtun people, the moors are from North Africa (Morocco). Why does the title say moorish Pulwar.
I thought it'd fetch more with the scabbard if it could be included. But hey, I'm not a sword expert. Best call my buddy over - "Mr. End piece"
Cool sword but that it's survived for over three hundred years and traveled around the world to arrive in a pawn shop in Vegas makes it even cooler.
Ancient swords like that in most middle east countries i am sure they will never sold those, because they hold a big history in the past so it is like a family heirloom.
Lol I didn’t go blind during the second half lol
Let me call sum one that knows sum thing 😎🥃
I hate when they make jokes and Rick tries to correct them
Love from AFG
The shouldn't repost videos they've already posted before.
1:5...So the "end piece"(pommel) keeps the sword from sliding out of the hand, and the curve of the sword as well?🤦🏽♂️
This sword video you posted about a month ago already
Don’t let him fool you man! That a nice hat 🧢.
He says there's not alot of money to be made yet now that It's restored he's ready to sell it for $5000. I'm pretty sure Rick got the better end of this deal.😁
At 3:01 Rick really wants to say how dare you ask for more after using the service I provided with the expert
Rick is always seen reading books...but still needs expert on every little item...what he reads then? A Cosmo

Its not a new episode right?
I actually liked the hat idk what he talking about
Ricks expert is an expert of Zelda game ...
Looks like a wire wheel/polish job with some craft painting done within the lines $1500 restoration wow im in the wrong business
The guy pays $15 for the sword, add $1500 for restoration, then sell for $5000 will leave a profit of $3485. The seller didn't think it through.
How old is this video? Why are they re-publishing this short video?
Lol poor Rick haha.. hat looks nice buddy dont listen to Corry.
This is a repost, why post it again
Cashier at McDonald's: ok sir that will 10.50 how would u like to pay Rick : ok listen at 10.50 there's no money to be made let's do 50 cents and call it a deal
What is that sword made of? Steel or iron?
I don't get it. $500 + $1,500 for restoration = $2,000 and it will be worth $5,000. Pay the guy his $500 Rick!!
I like Rick's hat. Leave him alone kid. Hahaha
It'll be worth $5,000 after Rick pays $1,500 to restore it. So Rick makes $3,200 and pays his "friend" $300. Great guy.
I like the hat too.
I’m from Afghanistan 🇦🇫

As soon as he said Afghanistan all I thought was the price just went way up.
