The son tried to be clever and sent his buddy to try and sell it, so he wouldn't get the heat but it backfired, because Rick wasn't willing to buy it and fans still got angry. Now that he still has the ring, he can say what ever about this episode.

That ring was a replica. Yes. You can buy them, even on Amazon. And it was also very poorly engraved like it had been done in someone's garage with a Dremel tool. Any run of the mill jeweler would tell you this thing is fake. And the idea that Rick didn't catch this makes think either Pawn Stars is totally fake, or Rick was just waiting to call the kid's bluff with an authenticator.

The reality is they usually buy cars at auctions for close to nothing then sale them for 10 times what they paid. Same concept goes here. Even though the ring is replica it still cost a good chunk. When I posted this comment, they had the same identical ring without the shoddy engraving on Amazon for like $180. Now Amazon no longer carries them.

To be fair, all of Rick’s sport rings are from bench warmers and front office staff so they will sit in his showroom for a while, plus the ring looks fake, they don’t call him the Spotter for nothing

Whether or not it's a legitimate sport is redundant when thinking in terms of it's value. There are fewer WWE hall of fame rings issued each year than Super Bowl rings and an equal, arguably even larger collectors market for anything related to it than most professional sports memorabilia in general. Offering him $4000 for it was an insult, I'm glad he walked away. A die hard wrestling fan with cash to spare would easily pay three times that amount or more, especially for the ring issued to Paul Bearer. Anything related to the Undertaker would sell in an instant and it doesn't get much closer to the Undertaker himself than Paul Bearer.

It's fake. Paul Bearer's sons were both alive when this came out, and they said they don't know him. Paul's remaining son, has his dad's HOF ring.

Mr Brown and the WWE got along famously.

A lot of the ones that have rings, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Stone Cold ect; were more popular than most of the athletes of their era. John Cena is the only celebrity to do over 300 visits with the Make a wish Foundation. I'm not going to say that Hulk Hogan is more famous than Michael Jordon or whatever, but he's probably more famous than Jack Haley.
