I saw Pavel Steidl in concert about ten years ago and I remember he gave a surprising but also enjoyable concert by doing two things: playing on a 19th century Russian guitar (which has a rather different sound to the usual classical guitar) & spontaneously breaking into song as he played old baroque pieces!

I had the privilege of seeing Pavel play live in Australia a year or so back. I just love how expressive he is with his face and whole body when he plays. You can see how much he feel its. He is also technical amazing as this video demonstrates. A true treasure.

yes, Hendrix himself had played a part of the US anthem in a live performance, don't remember time/place but I am 100% sure about that because when I heard it in this composition I felt surprised about how the composer connected those things in his brain :P (pardon my english it is New Year's Eve and I am 90% drunk at the moment)

skatastolako Hendrix recorded his own deranged psychedelic arrangement of 'The Star Spangled Banner' (aka "The USA Anthem") and has performed it live at most of his shows since. His most iconic performance was at Woodstock as seen in the film, 'Woodstock' - where he performed it in its entirety.

This is a masterpiece! The Mongolian throat singing really comes out much clearer and sings above the dramatic arpeggiated section when performed live. I'd really recommend seeing this live (and performed by Pavel!) if at all possible!

Interesting - it depicts how Hendrix might have practiced/warmed-up/worked-out new material. An embellishment on this would be to use an electric guitar, a wah-wah pedal, and an amp. Further embellishments would be to add a drummer and a bass player. The final touch would be period clothing... and maybe some 'incense and peppermints'...

Jimi was an open minded musician, although he had a clear preference for blues, he enjoyed other styles, an example of this was his encounter with Robert Fripp of King Crimson, which was a banda with a very wide musical style and Hendrix admired them

Pavel is a brilliant performer but I really don't know where Domeniconi wanted to go with this. As a tribute to Hendrix, it has no melody, no timing or groove. I was quite disappointed in this. As a piece of avant-garde music, it fails to involve or even strike the listener to contemplate. Bit of a waste of 14 minutes really.
