Saw Luciano live 5 times in my life. On the last occasion I was sitting on stage directly behind him. Only seats left. For his first encore he told the audience he had to sing to the people behind him. I asked for Una Furtiva and as he nodded to his pianist my request was granted. Pavarotti singing my request from 5 feet away. If I had died when he finished my life would have ended on a high note.

I’m eighty and am tearing up, my dad had a lovely voice and sang all those beautiful songs.

I’m so sad he is no longer here with us but oh! how blessed I feel to have heard him at all. He is a life enhancing experience. How wonderful that we have You Tube and Maestro Pavarotti is at our fingertips. As Keats said: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.” In this crazy world of 2020 with political unrest in the US, an economic catastrophe, food lines, unemployment, a dangerous man as president who refuses to concede to the new president, the fear of civil war and the raging Covid pandemic, Luciano Pavarotti is a balm to the soul. ❤️

He not only sings each song, he LIVES each song each time. His emotional capacity is so rich and deep, joined with his vocal perfection...there can never be a better experience than to hear him sing. Thank God we have so many videos and recordings of this talent of the ages! Viva, Maestro!

I've heard Placido Domingo, I've heard Andrea Boccelli, I've heard Jose Carreras, and all have exceptional voices and deliver a song well. But, Luciano had something special. Not only do I hear the music, I FEEL the music. Even though I don't understand all the words, I BELIEVE him when he sings. I'm just like the lady at the end of this video...overflowing with emotion.

Ho appena ascoltato Kaufmann che è un bel po' carente. Pavarotti la canta meglio ma non lo trovo comunque eccezionale non in base a quanto è stato idolatrato durante e dopo la carriera artistica

salvatore pazzola grandissimo interprete..anche se in questa romanza dal vivo nel 1967 al regio di Parma Corelli Nella Romanza Lucean le Stelle ti fa vnire la pelle d oca..lo ascolti bene in un certo passaggio una nota di ben 17 secondi con un diminuendo da far venire la pelle d oca...irragiungibile

I can never understand why some of the comments on this page are always engaging in some type of competition. Who's better? Pavarotti, Placido? They are great tenors, they have different voices, they have different octave and range. What I'm trying to say is that they are all great singers, it's a matter of personal choice of which song or which aria you prefer one singer to the other. Either way, you can't go wrong. Listen to them and enjoy it. Don't get involved in the frivalty of who is better or who can outdo who, that's not what opera singing is about.
