Paul Stanley of KISS CAUGHT AGAIN Lip Syncing - No one still believes me

Hey guys - I was watching footage from KISS recent show in Minneapolis, Minnesota from March 4th and I saw the obvious examples of lip syncing by Paul. AGAIN with the lip syncing.

First off, I AM a KISS fan. I have been a KISS fan since I was 7 in 1977. BUT, I am not blinded by their BS either, and i am NOT a KISS Sheep who follow them blindly. You can argue that you know about microphones, and compression, and sight/verses sound delays....I have taken all of this into account. I have been in bands, recorded bands, mixed sound, and even worked in the motion picture industry. I know what i see, not only in the clips in this video, but in clips in other videos too. I could keep making these types of videos with all the clips i have seen, but I have chose to quot beating that dead horse. The ONLY issue I have with the whole lip syncing/backing tracks debate with KISS is all the shit that Gene and Paul talked about other bands in the past years for doing the same thing and not coming clean and admitting they are doing the same. It's the principal of the matter, but they never will come clean, the egos are too large at this point. I'll always love KISS and support them, but NOT BLINDLY. Thanks for all your comments and thanks for watching. Respect everyone's opinions, even if they do not respect mine or treat me with the same respect. I have other KISS videos that are less controversial as this one, feel free to subscribe and check them out.

Song is a an instrument, just as much as guitar, as if you replace one whole instrument with prerecorded parts, but CLAIM they are being done live, than that's more than "a little help". The problem is they keep claiming it's all live. If they said "the vocals will be prerecorded since Paul can't sing anymore but this is the only way we could do it", there wouldn't be as many complaints and accusations like these would not be necessary.

I agree that he is using 'assistance'. Good word. I don't know why they could not have come out in the first place and said something like "Look, we are Kiss. Everyone knows that we are old, and most fans know that Paul Stanley had an operation on his vocal cords only recently. Despite this, we want to go out and do a final tour for our fans. Fans should understand that occasionally we may be using 'assistance', however, that still does not mean that it will not be a great show. So come on out and lets Rock and Roll all night." This would have made it perfect for me. Paul would not have to struggle so much, (honestly sometimes I am so embarrassed for him, it must be mortifying) and we could hear a good show, and all of this would be a non issue.

Leave em alone, there's a reason they're calling this the end of the road tour. Paul has rocked the world with a high C pitch or above for 50 years with barely a break. The guys are old, they know they're done, let's enjoy the final years not bashing them for the performances of today but remember how they set the world on fire with their dedication to music and their fans. Whether Paul has to lip sync or not doesn't change the fact that he was imho the best male vocalist to ever sing into a microphone. Let em be, don't ruin their accomplishments with pettiness. They gave us some of the best music ever written, and for that, I will always be thankful.

Being a singer myself, I have to come out in favor of Paul. He us not a young man anymore and these long tours can wreak havoc on strong, young vocal chords. It could very well be that IF Paul was truly lip synching, he may have had a sore throat, or he may have had trouble reaching different notes. Paul has stated repeatedly that he wants to make sure the fans get the best show he can give them. So I think, if he is occasionally lip synching, he is doing so to try to keep the fans happy and thoroughly entertained in the best way he can do that! Don't throw stones at a man who works as hard as Paul does, night after night, year after year, until you have spent a year onstage in his platform boots and makeup, singing and shouting as he does to give his very best to his fans!

There are a lot of bands that do it. I was in a signed band in the early 90's that ran a background tape and one night the timing was off. You just can't duplicate the layered background vocals without doing it. Nothing more embarrassing than that. Good thing it was still in the era where smoke machines were used so i don't think anyone saw it. However, there are super talented bands like Kings X that do not do that sort of thing and occasionally the vocal might be off key, but at least you know it is real.

And,the mic could be prepared to have the capacity of picking up sounds, not directionally,by request of its owner. Stanley has a loud voice, don´t forget that. Also,it is a live voice. I mean,it was recorded in a concert. No advantage using such strategy.

Yes I totally disagree with you okay at this point in their career who cares honestly, so many "Fans" are out there putting down Paul ... yes his voice over the years years has not been what it used to be but like Paul has said: you want to hear what I sounded like on Alive listen to Alive you want to hear what I sounded like on Crazy Nights Listen to Crazy Nights. I am very proud and honored to be a KISS fan, I've been since I'm 9 years old and I never jumped off the KISS bandwagon. Paul has given us great vocals, great songs and KISS has given us the best shows Ever! And for people to be out there now doing all this video and bad-mouthing, to me you guys aren't fans I don't care what you say okay, I've seen them twice so far on this tour yeah they're using some kind of backing tracks and who gives a shit,,, I'm seeing my favorite band that I first saw in 1979 and I'm still seeing them 40 years later. To me you guys are like the people who just stand back and video other people doing harm to someone, you're not contributing at all to the fact that KISS is still around, still touring and they're going to be here for another three years and hopefully it won't be the end but if it is and they hang up their boots I get on my knees and bow to them they deserve everything that they've achieved in their career, no band has even come close to what they have achieved.

That's what buying the albums is for. Everything must come to an end sooner or later, even the good things. Let it go, just like they should've a long time ago.

When the video shows Eric hitting the snare, the sound we get at that very specific time is the bass drum. The 2nd 1 AGAIN listen to the beat and use that rhythm and watch his hands strumming to that same beat on the guitar. I play guitar and have great eyes and ears when it comes to live and lip synced music. And the 3rd he is NOT lip syncing.

Very insulting to the record buyer who sees Ace Peter on the cover and now they stoop to an all time low by "Suckering the Fans" that put them up on that stage. Hey bro! I feel you on skipping the KISS show due to the lip syncing, but depending on how close you are to Cleveland you may want to reconsider going to the show after all with your son. My best memories of KISS were from the 70's-80's...the records, posters, TV specials, the lunchbox, etc. In 1990 my brother Ken and I went to the Ohio Center in Columbus, OH to see them during the 'Hot In The Shade' tour. I didn't like that album at all but we loved KISS, so we got nosebleed seats and were excited to be there together. At the time the local FM station was running a contest to win front row seats, long story short I ended winning a pair by making the best banner that night, and my brother and I got to see KISS from the front row!! I was 16, he was 14, and with us being musicians we were in absolute heaven. I've been furious about the hypocrisy that Paul and Gene have displayed over the years towards bands running tracks and now with the use of them within KISS for most of the shows on this tour so far. I was absolutely NOT going to attend this tour for that reason alone. Well...My brother sadly passed away suddenly on Feb 18th and he has a son who is 14. I've been devastated to say the least but I've been trying to find things to do together with him to create long lasting positive memories. He's a fan of KISS also, I have Sunday off, so he and I are heading up to Cleveland for the show this Sunday. There are a lot of seats left for face value prices (I paid less than $40 per tix), whereas in Columbus everything via TM was a 'Verified Resale' tix with nothing avail for under $100. Paul is DEFINITELY running vocal tracks at points throughout the show to help him (also lip syncing certain parts as well), but the band is live as well as Gene's vocal. If nothing else this will mark my nephew's first big rock concert, and I'm hoping the road trip and concert is something that will create a positive memory for us both during our grieving process.

actually, dude explained this already. When you are getting a sound with your mouth TWO INCHES from a dynamic microphone that is directional, and you move your lips away from that spot by say FOUR INCHES, yes, you are going to get a drop in volume and a NOTICEABLE drop in volume because they cannot use that much compression live or the mic will squeal from feedback. In a studio, with ONLY VOCALS being recorded you can move around some IF you are not RIGHT UP ON THE MIC to begin with. It's percentages. If you are recording about 8 inches from a good condensor mic set to cardioid, you can move your head a little left and right or forward and back. No problem. LIVE? You just cannot get the same sound moving away from a mic. Sorry.

@@d3a0s Well, everyone has a right to their opinions. And I've been doing audio for almost 50 years and I have actually used a microphone and recorded myself unimaginable times and I know that live, if you move your mouth away from the mic by 300%, the volume WILL drop noticeably and if it doesn't in a live vid, then that certainly is an indicator that it's lip sync but sometimes the vid/audio may be out of sync a little to begin with so you have to be sure it's lined up so you're not being fooled by that problem. Tons of live vids are lip sync cuz you can see the singer move the mic away but the sound is still there exactly the same volume. Dead giveaway... TY!

Paul is lypsincing almost all the entire setlist all the shows from middle's 2018. I love Kiss and Paul. But he lost his voice from 2011. After the Sonic Boom tour... Is very easy to notice when is it on o off. Example: Detroit Rock City, he sings only the first verse and the half of the last...

This is not news any more. Everyone knows he’s miming at least parts of the songs. His voice was absolutely shredded on the few shows they did last year. No doubt a big reason they decided retire from touring. I stil hear nothing but positive reviews from people who have actually gone to the shows. So i say just enjoy the show for what it is. Gene sings live, instruments are live, show is impressive,so just enjoy. Or not

But Gene said this about lip syncing... “I have a problem when you charge $100 to see a live show and the artist uses backing tracks,” Simmons says. “It’s like the ingredients in food, if the first ingredient on the label is sugar that’s at least honest. It should be on every ticket -- you’re paying $100, 30 to 50 per cent of the show is (on) backing tracks and they’ll sing sometimes, sometimes they’ll lip synch. At least be honest. It’s not about backing tracks, it’s about dishonesty." ~ Gene Simmons

Hand up, right here... person who actually goes to shows. Saw them last night in fact and it was f-ing fantastic. I get so sick of all this toxic "I'm a KISS fan but..." and talking about all the crappy youtube videos they've seen. My first KISS concert I was only 14 years old, and I have seen them on every single tour they've gone on since. My now 17 year old son was with me last night, it was his 4th or 5th KISS concert. His first one he was 8 and I have a video posted on here where you can see him rocking out to Let Me Go Rock & Roll. I live in Pennsylvania and they don't always come real close to me, but I find a way. Last one was in State College, PA... 3+ hour drive. Before that was somewhere in Virginia. Last night was in Philadelphia, over 4 hours to get there, damn near $30 in toll roads, cost $30 to park. Had a f-ing blast and would do it again in a second. I'm a KISS fan, but, I never miss a show.

Thanks for the videos, man. Gotta tell you, though, the audio and video don't seem to be quite in sync in any of the three clips. I saw KISS in KC in February, made video of half a dozen songs, and if there was any lip-syncing, I didn't catch it: based on the videos I shot, if Paul was lip-syncing it was accompanied by guitar-syncing, crowd noise syncing, and flaming explosion syncing. :)

If you notice in beginning that drums don’t sync up as monitors on stage and front of house sound is off a bit like a time delay which may be due to it looking like lip sync. Or maybe not but it’s not that far off and one can clearly see drums don’t match up exact but he’s playing live on drums.

Trying to judge anything by these video clips is a waste of time because if you are a drummer or guitar player you can clearly see the audio is trailing the video by about a second. Its obvious on the cymbal crash at 2:49. You see the hit, then hear it half to one second later. Same when he’s making strums and chord changes on the guitar. Sync your video, then restate your case. There will be nothing to talk about.

I don't care if the show is Playback or lip sync. I do not mind. I've seen Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and many others lip-synch. But Kiss has been doing incredible shows for 30 years. If in order to say goodbye to them, and thank them for their legacy, we have to watch them with playback, I don't care. The End of the Road show is incredible. It was worth it? It was worth every damn second and every damn penny. Thanks Kiss.

Of course he lip syncs sometimes, the guy is almost 100 years old. His voice (as with everyone’s voice), is going. That’s just the way nature works. Everyone goes through it as they age. With Kiss, I don’t really care if he lip syncs or not, I’m not there for his voice, I’m there for the SHOW!!! Not that I’d go to one of these shows, because it’s NOT Kiss. It the gene and Paul show with 2 paid lackeys dressed up in Ace and Peter makeup.
