He's legit a combination of clemens and Verlander. The dude has special stuff. Guys like him only come around, maybe once every two or three DECADES.
Everybody who’s saying he’ll be injured hasn’t followed the guys career. Your witnessing the real deal
This kid is either going to be out of the league after a few years due to injuries like Mark Prior and Stephen Strasburg or be the next Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan.

I can't believe how many people slept on him in Fantasy baseball. I have him on all 3 of my teams. 😂😂
I'd be interested to hear Pedro Martinez on his pitching mechanic.
Wow... just wow... So excited about this kid
Great control with speed. Impressive.
He’s a leg pitcher. Less risk of arm injuries.
I never thought I'd see a pitcher for the Pirates this good. I hope they don't trade him. The Pirates tend to trade their best players and they sometimes end up in a world series for another team. The fans could use a break from that.

Que movimiento tan espectacular tiene la recta de este muchacho miren como rompe esa recta a 100 millas
I watched this game and the cubs who have a decent hitting team were just fanning on his fast balls … dominating stuff…he’s going to be fun to watch 👍
He seems to effortlessly throw serious gas and that splitter is just sick. Love it!
What's really impressive about this kid is not only is his stuff nasty, but he mixes his pitches well and keeps hitters guessing, very impressive. Only thing im worried about is just like DeGrom, Strider and lots of these other hard throwers injuries might unfortunately catch up to him, I hope not.
Nolan Ryan is back
@user-os6ps1ls3s
20 күн бұрын
Let’s hope he has the health of the great Ryan
His pitching motion seems nice & easy, doesn’t look like he is straining to throw hard. A lot of movement on all his pitches, very very impressive. Hope a talent like this has a long and healthy career!
⛈️⚡🌩️⚡ he remind me a young mighty Roger - the rocket - Clemens 👀👀👀 the sound of the baseball when hit the catcher mitts is his awesome 🔥🔥 .
A very fluid motion... looks pretty hitch-free... arm angle also looks to maximize lateral torso torque, especially with that near side-arm slot. That movement is SICK... I wonder what his spin rate is on his pitches...
I see a lot of ppl talking about him blowing out his arm because of throwing such high heat. But hes not a pure heat pitcher. He HAS that heat and uses it, but most of his pitches he throws are offspeed. He does that because with such a fast fastball, they have to either sit and wait on the fastball or hope its the right offspeed pitch you think hes going to throw. If he throws the opposite, goodluck adjusting to it because you wont.
@sledgehammer5033
20 күн бұрын
injuries are just about velocity, spin is also important. he throws his slider fast and with a lot of movement, that's just as bad
@brandonlm0125
20 күн бұрын
Another point they miss is that he’s massive! 92mph to him is having a catch. When he throws 100+ he’s not throwing everything he has. He throws 100 consistently with ease and they think he’s just running on fumes and determination. Hes the outlier, not the norm.

7 strike outs here in Los Angeles is a free jumbo jack everyday the Dodgers get 7 Ks. We get lots a free jumbo jacks lol! Congrats to Mr. Skenes. I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt a Dodger in the future
The movement on his 100mph pitches is crazy.
If it weren't for that battle with Busch and some...questionable umpiring, he could have easily gone 7 innings today instead of 6. Fantastic stuff!
Paul Skene reminds me of Matt Harvey came into the league throwing extremely hard lots of hype
Bro, i watched him while he was at LSU. Bro is f'n daaaangerous. His pitch speed/ball placement is ridiculous. He's built different. I'm surprised he didn't start as soon as he was drafted.
The splitter or splinker at 94-96 is a pure weapon. Wow does it move late. Hitters won’t be ready if he has fastball command
Skenes and Sasaki, 2 of the best young pitchers in the world. Can't wait for Sasaki to get in to the big leagues.
This dude is a STUD!

Yeah, they level up everyone, eventually...hitters gonna hit!
This guy definitely has the stuff to be one of the best in the game. Needs to mix in more off speed to complement the velo and he better figure out how to keep it down in the zone. It’s going to be interesting to see how he adapts once hitters start to figure him out.
Every pitch he has is absolutely filthy
He is pitching great. Also the more the seethe better they will get at hitting him.
he's the real deal
That splinker pitch is absolute filth. 95-96 mph with a short quick drop. Looks damn near unhittable.
good gods above how does he throw pitches that fast with that much movement?!
The Gland Man has got the juice! 💯
Him striking people out and laughing at them is great. Skenes is great for baseball. Tossing a 100 plus and knowing it isn't fair and laughing at your struggling opposition is next level!

When you constantly have top 5 picks it’s safe to assume that every now and then they will draft a Cole, Glasnow or Skenes, but saying that they always get high caliber pitchers is far from the truth.
@chriscline7905

Cause we always stink so end up with top draft picks and even manage to mess that up alot like Daniel Moskos cause we didn't want to pay so drafted down in the top of the first round. Hopefully Bob will roll out the red carpet for Paul but my mind tells me otherwise
He looks like he short arms his pitch. Doesn't extend his arm. Hope he stays healthy
And he goes home to Livvy Dunne
I saw a young "Strasburg" again as I thought. Keep healthy for a long career.
what pitch is thrown at 10:19 for a ball? that thing is all over the place. would be neat if he could throw it far out to the right then just clip the inside corner for a K

@Hvaclife83
20 күн бұрын
Skenes is the one that made up the name for that pitch. So technically it is a splinker.
I think the velo is just natural for him
Cant believe they pulled him and the reliever immediately threw a hit. Idc if its 45 to 0 with 120 pitches in the 7th, you dont pull a pitcher on a no hitter.
@haydenrogers241
20 күн бұрын
It’s his second start and the Pirates are gonna need him if they hope to make this a season. It is a bit odd, but they are definitely keeping on a pretty strict pitch count. They are thinking long term and this kid will have more than his fair share of opportunities for history if he keeps pitching like this.
@morange492
20 күн бұрын
It's hard because I agree but also you don't want to stress his arm too much and risk blowing out his arm on his like 2nd or 3rd start haha
@saraschu2735

The Pirates also pulled Max Kranick when he was throwing a no hitter through 5 innings against St Louis a few years back if I recall correctly. Probably trying to be mindful of the pitch count. They let Keller throw a complete game last week because it was under his max pitch count. Historically they've kept Skenes under 60 pitches or so per appearance. Not surprised they pulled him

えっぐいてー!!!
He will quickly make a great player on another team.
I’ve only done this on MLB the show…on rookie difficulty…
The teams don’t have a lot of data on him yet. He will be good but eventually film study will allow hitters to learn his patterns and giveaways
I really wish MLB managers would let pitchers pitch complete games. It’s taken one of the most exciting parts of the game away. If Nolan Ryan could handle 300 innings a season, and pitch into his 40’s, these pitchers can handle at least 8. Especially with the training and diet they get these days.
There are forces at work in this video lol
5th battery foul tip was the first contact
Im sorry Splinker is just too funny a name for a pitch 😂
Man this kid reminds me of Roge4r Clemens, but he is so unique in the way his arm doesn't give away his pitches at all. It almost looks like a slider sometime when he throws that sinker, but he holds in a way ive never seen.. Kids Special. When he is in that zone, he is unhittable at only 22 thats crazy
It hurts my arm just watching him throw so fast constantly on this pitch clock.
We’re going to need a better catcher if we’re gonna be able to utilize his movement
Skeens is awesome really hope pirates can keep him smh

He's great, but I'm concerned that his pitching style is putting strain on his elbow.💪
