Paul Ryan-The Day That Anastasia Romanoff Died 1976

Paul Ryan-The Day That Anastasia Romanoff Died....Words & Music Paul Ryan....For those who don't know about Anastasia-She was Grand Duchess Anastasia
of the last sovereign of Imperial Russia-who at 17 was murdered with her family on July 17-1918 by forces of the Bolshevik secret police..
Twelve o'clock they came to take you
Came to wake you for your final dream
Yellow ribbon-coat of satin
Soaked in red-you play your final scene
But they would not take your smile
And they could not close your eyes
Oh sweet Anastasia Ronanoff there's nothing more to fear
Anastasia-sleep my child
Ah you had the magic to drive them wild
Anastasia-do not cry
The lights went out the day you died
And i always cried
The day that Anastasia Romanoff died
Twisting on an empty spiral
Ending in the twilight of your years
Eyes that sparkle like a thousand jewels
They close on fools that had no tears
But they could not take your smile
And they would not close your eyes
Sweet Anastasia Romanoff there's nothing more to fear
Anastasia-sleep my child
Ah you had the magic to drive them wild
Anastasia-do not cry
The lights went out the day you died
And i always cried
The day that Anastasia Romanoff died
Anastasia-sleep my child
Ah you had the magic to drive them wild
Anastasia-do not cry
The lights went out the day you died
And i always cried
The day that Anastasia Romanoff died.

what a beautiful and so sad song-especally coz it really happened. And Paul is a genius. His music is comparable to classic music. Not made for the mainstream but for the listener who know to appreciate these masterpieces of music.

Gabi Schuetz I can only agree with you! Paul was, and still is, far ahead of his time, the way of his music...still a shame he never got the appreciation he deserved from the public.

Tani you know ,yes-Pauls music is extraordinarily good and I think that excellent kind of music he made not for the mainstream and for earning money- I think he did it for expressing himself.what sad that he already had to go :( He and Barry are the very best.

Gabi Schuetz Paul poured all his heart into his songs and you can still feel it today, so many years later. (Mit viel Herzblut, as we would say in German ;-) ) The songs he touched turned gold. But! No need to be sad about him not being in the charts, having fame... I think, in the end, the most important thing is to keep him alive in our hearts! ♥️
