So who's paying for the new coal power plants, after the old ones crumble due to being too old? Under Liberals two coal plants shut down and another was bribed to be kept open after it's use by date. Wouldn't building new stations increase our power bills as well?

Jim Chalmers coming out with the camera on show with his family in tow like some celebrity was absolutely pathetic !! People are paying out of their own saving to support their family members who are just gripping on with unaffordable housing rentals and food prices and having to live with parents because everything is unattainable and impossible !!!!! Thanks, Paul Murry, for breaking it all down for us to see what really is going on from the liars in the lodge !! I'm more than angry with this current labour party. For goodness, people vote them out !!!

It makes you wonder how they think this is deflationary by paying our bills for us. Paying our bill at the current price of electricity doesn't mean the price of electricity has fallen it just means someone else paid the bill for us. So the inflation is still there. Such a weird budget.

He also thinks we don't understand basic arithmetic. $300 saved on power bills is $300 you can spend somewhere else regardless of what electricity prices are doing or whether prices are going up or down.

@letmeexplain1816 Yes, I have heard a few with a conscience donate their increases to charity. There are many perks to being politician in addition to salary. They always justify by saying they are paid less than if they work in the private sector. Last year: "Based on the determination, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's salary will increase from $564,356 to $586,930, and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton's salary will increase from $401,561 to $417,623. MPs will have a base pay of $225,742, up from $217,060 - though they can receive additional pay depending on whether they hold a ministry or shadow ministry, chair a committee, or act as speakers or party whips. Politicians are also entitled to travel allowances, electorate allowances, provision of a vehicle or an allowance in lieu of a vehicle, and internet and phone services at their home."

I didn't even notice the government subsidy I got last year for my power bill because the power company jacked up my costs for electricity by 28%. When they give relief in one sector in cost of living, its giving license for the provider of such service and resources to add to the cost. Notice fuel has gone up 20% conservatively, certain foods like meat & milk up 40% just to name a few things people have and use regularly. Civilian's dont get a thing but people are just uneducated and dont realise it and buy into this garbage. RBA has only one thing they can do. Higher inflation = rate rise Potential unemployment increase = rate rise Increased mortgage stress to try lower spending and increasing debt levels = rate rise Wife of an RBA board member leaves them = rate rise Was raining last Tuesday = rate rise Its a sad joke.......

The energy rebate thingy and the increase in rent assistance is a slap in the face for those who live in their car so they can afford to eat. These are the people REALLY doing it tough, not ur middle class who are having difficulties paying their mortgage! (Not saying they have it easy either).
