I am grateful for the Beatles and especially grateful that Paul gave us so much for so many years with hopefully more to come. Long life! Paul and Ringo. RIP John and George, you are missed but always loved.

This must be very hard for Mr McCartney to watch although he has moved on to other heights and successes. Nothing can replace his life as he envisioned it with Linda and the Kids forever at his side.

Paul did everything genius. WROTE the songs. I put PM #1 Bach #2 Beethoven #3. Then he sung these masterpieces with that amazing voice(s), he's my favorite for rock, pop, love songs, adult contemp., everything. He played top 3 bass and all the other instruments. And great production, he changed and conquered the whole world with Sgt. Peppers. Amazing, *greatest ever* and so many giant stars are saying the same thing.

I recall Premier drums being the preferred kit among British drummers during the 60s. Is this perhaps due to the fact that other majors were not marketing heavily in Britain?

No more Jane. No more living in London. No more John as song writing partner. No more George and Ringo. No more George Martin producing. Every influence ALL GONE. LINDA takes the place of all of them. Well......

+Don Diego Vega I know, can you believe it? Linda took everyone's place in Paul's life, as Yoko Ono had taken everyone's place in John's. Paul stayed far more grounded than John, though. John Lennon had the best wife in Cynthia, and Cynthia is the one who gets dumped. Go figure. Yoko and Linda M. were a couple of gold diggers, but Cynthia knew John before his wealth and fame. She was so worthy, but got treated as worthless.

+Noelle Jordan What a Stupid statement you have made..Gold diggers you say? It's quite sick how people just can't understand people grow up, they change, If Linda was who Paul chose to be his wife, that's his business, he stayed married to her until her death, So they both must have loved one another, She was also part of Wings which was a good group, Also Lennon married Yoko and was with her too until his untimely death more than sure they would still be together as well, Some of you people need to stop living in the Past of what you think it should be, It was their lives NOT yours! Get the Fuck over it!

+robert glenn No offense intended, but "thought provoking"? Vega's post seems to blame Linda for the break up of The Beatles which is just as shallow an analysis as the same analysis that Yoko broke up The Beatles. Both of these grade-school analyses ignore the fact that John, Paul, George and Ringo were grown men who were savvy enough to have navigated the intense waters of global celebrity for the entire decade of the 60's but we're to believe they were unable to make their own decisions about what they wanted their lives to be and whether they felt there was a reason to continue together. They wanted their own lives and there were a host of other business realities they were dealing with as well. If you want to know how John felt about those who blamed the break up of The Beatles on Yoko, there's a great interview he gave to Playboy magazine a little before his death where he calls out those armchair analysts for what they are, in no uncertain terms.

***** Thought provoking doesn't connote belief. It was just a "first of"...something to think about. However, I agree with you....the Beatles had had enough by the summer of 66 and were fledging so to speak. They didn't need women and especially managers and producers to guide them any longer.

+NURSE Kathy, What was so sweet about Linda? I can't believe the adulation that has grown up around this woman. She struck me as an absolute SNOOT. In interviews, with her very uppity accent (where did THAT come from?) she always acted as if it were absolutely no big deal to her that she was married to Paul. This is after she set her sights on him, chased him all over, and only got herself knocked up in an order to land him. Her comments such as, "No, Paul was never my favorite," and "No, I don't tell the kids your Daddy was a Beatle," etc., were enough to make me want to slap her. It's a wonder Paul didn't. The son now acts the exact same way as her towards his father.Paul, on the other hand, always sung her praises. You say she was "sweet." I would be "sweet" too, if instead of having to break my ass trying to survive and eke out an existence in this world, all I had to think about was smoking pot and getting laid. This jewish American princess of a groupie apparently spread her legs apart for everyone and their brother. I would be "sweet" too, if my Daddy had millions upon millions of dollars, and all I had to think about was smoking pot and getting laid. So please, give me a break.Paul wouldn't have looked at her twice if it weren't for her Daddy's money and connections.

All four Beatles engaged in constant revisionism about so much there's very little you can believe. McCartney practically had a nervous breakdown and wouldn't leave his farm. And their early solo albums are largely Beatles leftovers and works in progress that weren't finished.

I think that you are right, the greatest band of all time but truly they were lost by 70/all the freshness macca describes in the book "many years from now" was clearly gone.I think their success ate them up, studio band never works..too much indulgence allowed

Fraid not. Paul and George's first albums had a handful of leftover songs but 98% after that were all new material. Wild Life, Ram and Red Rose were all new material as was band on the run venus and mars etc. all new material.
