Reading Patrick Stewart's Memoirs, he mentions filming this scene. Apparently Ricky Gervais couldn't stop laughing at all, and Stephen Merchant had to stand in for him for much of it. Especially the way Patrick pronounced "knickers" really cracked Ricky up. Patrick writes "the two hours I spent with those guys, though, were one of the most fun times I have ever experienced in show business"
"Instantly." I lost it.
Anybody else have to come back and rewatch this scene now n then?
Extras was so, so incredibly good. I swear theres never been a better show.

What a champ. Seriously. You gotta respect an actor who can take the mickey out of themselves like that.
That little eye twitch as he realizes that Gervais doesn't watch Star Trek is a subtle bit of comedy gold.
"I'm writing a screenplay, and I find the whole process absolutely exhilarating." What I love is that there's an underlying meaning to that line that you can't appreciate until you've watched the whole scene through once -- in other words, the exact reason he finds the process "exhilarating." (shudder)
I'd pay good money to see that movie :-)
Patrick Stewart must of helped write game of thrones hahahah
Love how he immediately goes to talking about himself! Great caricature!
I love the "On the grass." line.. Wow, that's subtle and amazing.
"...and I ride off...on the grass....."! Brilliant. Brilliant line delivery from one the finest actors in the history of the art! Oh my goodness it's just such a wonderfully written and performed bit!
I've seen this scene 50 times and I still laugh at Patrick Stewart!
My favorite part of all this, after all these years, is when Patrick Stewart says he looks in the REAR VIEW MIRROR on a HELICOPTER haha
The way that "no" is delivered is sheer brilliance. Stewart is the examplar of class.
I love how Patrick's eyebrows raise when Ricky says "well there could be".
Never seen extras. But know I'm convinced it's worth a shot.
Every second of Patrick's Stewart's performance here is simply brilliant!
In a perfect world, Patrick Stewart would be in all film and TV productions. He should be granted honorary center square status for life.
I have watched this countless times over the course of a year or two and every time, a new part becomes my favorite. Currently it is at 3:02. "Yeah, because they've been in the camp for so long". It's just perfect, the way he's justified the actions of the women to make it more plausible and arousing for himself. Sorry to over analyze this, but it's really deep comedy and I think deeper reflection only strengthens the appreciation. And then Gervais' finisher, " can happen". Brilliant.

This was a brilliant show, and this scene was my top favorite. Well done. Thank you for the upload.
I wasn't a huge fan of Extras, although I can see why it was so popular and why so many people enjoyed it, one thing I loved about the show was seeing actors who you wouldn't really associate with comedy, play charactertures of themselves, giving away it seems their weird habits, beliefs and mannerisms to great comic effect. It's great writing to see icons such as Ian mckellen, Kate Winslet, Patrick Stewart and many others play these roles.
This is one of the best comedic scenes ever preserved on film.
His delivery is absolutely FLAWLESS! This is comedy gem!
This is the best show, just gold level writing. Some ofvthe best laughs ive ever had watching a tv.

Brilliant, still cracks me up seeing Patrick Stewart sending himself up like that. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting.
OMG this was one of the funniest series I'd ever seen being a film crew for the last 20 some odd years. These are the discussions among the camera crew. haha.
I have to say, Patrick Stewart is one of the coolest actors ever. He's an amazing actor that doesn't take himself seriously. He can go from Shakespeare to voicing Avery Bullock on American Dad.
This is exactly how Game of Thrones was pitched to HBO execs.
I would listen to Patrick Stewart's ideas all day long. They all sound brilliant, especially the part with the girls in the helicopter.
Never watched this show but I don't think I have ever loved Patrick Stewart quite as much as I do right now. That was absolutely brilliant.
I can't believe how well Patrick Stewart plays it. Just the looks in his eyes when he is asking about nudity. Subtle but expressive. I laugh every time.
"Is there any nudity in it?" The most important question of all.
Why have I never seen this. 10/10 would cry from laughter again
