We thought Ouncetopia will be built from hay in a shed, but Big Ounce saw the bigger picture: He beat cancer to build a whole ranch for Uncle Ben and even built a new house for him (all by himself) and brought Ouncetopia to everyone's heart.

I sobbed throughout the last part of the video when I realized who he was talking about. But I agree, Big Ounce lived better than any prairie dog can even hope to live. He’ll be Yahoo-ing his way to the rainbow bridge with Remington and the others, playing happily young again and pain-free. ❤

I live in Saskatchewan where prairie dogs are everywhere (including my backyard/under my shed) so I searched prairie dogs on YT on what to feed them, any videos about them, and that's how I first found this channel. If it wasn't for Big Ounce I wouldn't be here. RIP little guy.

We all hope it is not big ounce but all of the sign point to it is. Big ounce did have really bad cancer about 9 months ago and was very much expected to die but he defeated all odds and did live. He was also quite an old Prairie dog and this is pretty much the only video where big ounce is not in :( Uncle Ben also liked one of the comment that was a rest in peace big ounce comment.

Thank you and your animals for all the videos and the happiness shared through them. We are saddened by the news and we are thinking of you all.

We love you, Big Ounce! So sorry, Mr. Uncle Ben. His contributions to society and valiant service to humanity will be remembered forever. ❤

Big ounce was an inspiration to us all. And not just because of his multiple tours if duty and godlike construction abilities. In his darkest hour, when multiple doctors said he was going to die, he pulled through and made a miraculous recovery. He may have been small, but his bravery in the face of death is beyond most of us. Rest in peace little one, I have no doubt that a creature as prodigious as big ounce has a place in Valhalla.

Didn't think I'd ever have this level of attachement to a prairie dog thousands of miles away. RIP lil man

I've been suffering from really bad depression. This has been one of the most difficult years of my life. Your videos NEVER fail to make me smile. When I watch them, it pulls my head out of that dark place. I really admire you. Thank you Ben for sharing so much with us. Rest in peace, Big Ounce. Love you.

Me too. I feel silly crying over a Prarie Dog I have never met but then again I also don't cuz that little guy brightened up my day more times than I can count. Seeing Ben's heart hurt got me too. Biggerton was his best good friend.

Thanks for always making us smile with Big Ounce. It's sad he never got to have children. He was the poster of this channel and anyone can agree that when we saw him, we all got happy. He was the first animal many of us fell in love with and this honestly makes me cry. Rest in peace Big Ounce, You're yahooing with Jesus now. We all need to pray for Uncle Ben, I can only imagine the heart break, he truly was one of his best friends.

I heard he has become friends with Chris Cornell, and he "Yahoo's" through the chorus of I Am The Highway. I cannot confirm this, but I'm hoping to in a few years.

I remember when Big Ounce sailed from europe and came to america, meeting the natives and creating america to what it is today. RIP Big Ounce

If there are no Prairie Dogs in heaven, then I want to go where they went. I've been watching these with my daughter for a while and it all started because of a "yahoo" from Bigerton himself. Shortly after that video she insisted on her nickname becoming Big Ounce. Now she will carry his name and his passion with her. She wanted me to say you do an amazing job with your work and the rescue is a beautiful place. Oh and she wanted to give you a big "Yahoo" in honor of Big Ounce and to hopefully help cheer you up.

After fighting in WW1 and WW2, and throughout Iraq, Patrick's injuries finally caught up to him. Let us fellow veterans pray for Mr. Bateman. 🙏🙌

Big ounce had to finish the construction projects before he left us! RIP to the biggest ounce

I'll never forget the time he single handedly fought off 15 grizzly bears in the Alaskan wilderness and dragged me out while both my femurs had compound fractures. This man saved my life and my soul with his selfless and caring act of heroism. Rest in peace, Big Ounce. You are missed and cherished.

You have such a great way of giving your animals the spotlight to show off their unique and lovable personalities, it truly is an amazing cast of characters you've showcased on your channel. I have so many words I could write about every one of them, so many laughs and tears I've shed over the course of watching your videos, and I always feel bittersweet by the loss of one, or the release or transfer of another. I've been watching for a little over a year but this has been my favorite project to follow closely, and it's because of your passion and love for the beautiful animals nature has given us. In many ways, I look up to you because of your and infallible work ethic - every video on your channel is a testament to the dedication you have for your work and these precious animals. My current house was actually built by Big Ounce's construction company and I can't praise him enough. His employees were all hard-working, polite, and generally great to be around. And the house was incredibly well built, it's been 17 years and it's still standing strong. Not to mention his charities in the area. Our whole community will miss him greatly.
